It disheartens me when posters don’t read the facts or info the OP mentions in the OP or other posts.

Read the thread before commenting.

Will there be children at the wedding OP ?

Turntheswitch · 21/06/2026 16:22

It’d be more fun if there weren’t quite so many posters nowadays who feel the need to comment without having even read the OPs posts let alone RTFT.

Ah well, hell is other people …Grin

“More fun”?

doubt it!

Read the date the thread was started. Note how many posts are on the thread. Read all the OP's posts. Check if there are hundreds of posts after the OP's last post. Then reply if it still seems like there's a point.

Bloody hell who had time for all that?

The OP can scroll past of the reply is no longer relevant

You never know mostly if it is or not anyway as OPs don’t tend to reply to all posters comments

likelysuspect · 21/06/2026 16:30

Exactly I'll feel free to chunter away and others can feel free to ignore me, laugh at my stupidity or enter into an argument with me that others are already having on the thread.

Up to them.

Turntheswitch · 21/06/2026 16:33

I swear some old skool mumsnetters would like a governing body, a regulatory body, an online mumsnet “jail”

StarPyjamas · 21/06/2026 16:36

I find it amusing on the silly 'How old do I look threads', when the OP has stated their age, and people are still making wildly inaccurate guesses 😂

LobeliaCider · 21/06/2026 16:37

Kindly OP, have you always had such low self-esteem?

Sweetpeasaremadeforbees · 21/06/2026 16:38

I actually think that MN should consider limiting threads to maybe 200 posts to account for the decrease in people's attention spans. Then no-one really has an excuse to post without having read the whole thread.

I'd like an actual jail (not an online one) for posters like the OP who start threads and don't bother coming back.

I’m on the app so can’t see previous replies (let’s ignore the fact I could just go on the website like a normal person) and I’m actually too busy to read all 73 pages (and let’s also ignore the fact that it is entirely my choice to not engage with my settings and adjust them to use fewer pages), but what are their ages?

Cancel the cheque.

Ooh. I like it.

Naughty but nice.

ItIsGreen · 21/06/2026 16:45

OP, I think you've got bigger things to worry about than not liking dogs. Between supporting your neurodivergent DD, navigating a husband who apparently requires specialist post-coital beaker equipment, and dealing with a narcissistic MIL who still has a front door key, I'd say canine enthusiasm is very much a secondary issue. In fact, I'd be more concerned about the key than the beaker, although only just.

As for the MIL, I'd gently suggest that someone who lets herself into your house whenever she fancies is committing rather more significant boundary violations than the microaggressions currently being discussed on page 12. Not that those aren't irritating, but it's hard to focus on unconscious sexism when you're wondering whether your mother-in-law is in the kitchen rearranging your cupboards.
On the practical side, if money and mental load are factors, I'd ignore half the thread telling you to batch-cook seventeen separate meals. Roast a chicken and stretch it for the week: Sunday roast, sandwiches, curry, soup...

Mumsnet certainly is full of bossy types telling others how to live

Reading the OP's posts might take time depending on how many there are. The rest takes seconds.

You can see the OP's posts on the app. You press on the three little dots in the top right of the post and it's one of the options.

Some threads are like 500 posts long before you get to them though, who on earth has the time to read through the whole thread? I try to read OP’s posts first but again, occasionally the OP will have posted about 35 times.

Read the last post the OP made in that case.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 21/06/2026 17:00

What I said in the post she's replying to. It's all in the quote history.

No, I don’t use the app because it’s crap. But that’s the excuse I hear quite a lot.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 21/06/2026 17:03

I think it used to apply. The app is not as bad as it was.

DeeNiall · 21/06/2026 17:08

You can show the OP's posts by selecting See all. If you then select Flip the most recent one will be at the top after the OP itself.
It might mean you don't post something completely irrelevant or unhelpful.
