Ashley Cain comments about women

Hardliner · 17/06/2026 10:11

He's not particularly on my radar, but I just read this and felt floored all over again about how some men feel about women.

I know the comments were years ago, but this kind of vile misogyny doesn't exist in a vacuum.

What a crappy start to the day.

BBC presenter Ashley Cain called women ‘slags’, ‘sluts’ and ‘bitches’

Exclusive: Cain has been lauded by corporation for his appeal to young men despite history of abusive and misogynistic remarks

Just seems the stereotype of mysoginist GB news right wing reform man. Farage, Middleton, Cain, Clarkson.

Nothing new, nothing nuanced. Old white Men trying to oppress women and other minorities.

Lmfao why can't you judge this sexist prick on his own low merits without trotting out the lazy right man tropes.

LuckyHazelFox · 17/06/2026 20:12

In fact, @LoftyPlumLion you're the one who's coming across as bigoted by reducing your lazy stereotype to white men. Have you heard of Kanye West?

aperolspritzbasicbitch · 17/06/2026 20:14

Also, there’s the fact that Ashley himself is not a ‘white man’

Tableforjoan · 17/06/2026 20:18

eugh I remember him from ex on the beach and then his poor baby girl bless her tiny heart.

Milked her little life for all he could and moved on fast.

VaxMerstappen · 17/06/2026 20:22

Ex footballer, what do you expect? Not exactly the most intelligent and respectful men around, are they?

Mookie81 · 17/06/2026 20:23

He's always been a scumbag. Milked his daughter's illness and death, used the go fund me in her name for a knees up instead of a decent funeral, asked her mother to have another baby while already having 2 other women pregnant, the list goes on. The manky beard is the cherry on the top. He's beyond gross.
DEI pick for the BBC, plus off the back of his loss. Absolutely cannot stand the man.

RonaldMcDonaldTrump · 17/06/2026 20:24

I'm surprised it's only just come out, there are threads pages and pages long about him (and his ex) on Tattle. They exposed him years ago. Not only is he a vile misogynist, there are also serious unanswered questions about how the millions of pounds that were fundraised for the Azaylia Foundation have been spent. The guy was driving around in super cars less than a year after her death. Hopefully the foundation will be looked into now

LuckyHazelFox · 17/06/2026 20:26

Talk of miking his own daughter's death? Walk a mile in his shoes before you say that. Seriously.

Pansykavalier · 17/06/2026 20:28

Are you serious - how can you lump footballers in with this piece of filth….. And those comparing him to Andrew Tate, Kanye West and other misogynist sexual predators and rapists need to actually read the article.

Ashley Cain is on a whole different level. So vile it is difficult to comprehend. And they BBC of all organisations chose him as someone who can connect with young men. As if these were not already exposed to all kinds of horrible and vile shit online.

I despair. Whoever dropped the ball at the BBC needs to have the book thrown at them.

Pretty sure even walking in his shoes would give you an STI.

JacketPotatoFoodOfTheGods · 17/06/2026 20:29

what a disgusting, ignorant, arsehole. Has he been sacked yet?

What a vile thing to say. Call him for what you want but he still lost his child.

NeedAnyHelpWithThatPaperBag · 17/06/2026 20:34

The desperation to be seen as "in the know" can lead to some toxic bedfellows.

Pieceofpurplesky · 17/06/2026 20:38

Please don't bring his daughter in to this. Whatever he has done she is innocent of this and the charity has raised money and awareness for childhood cancer.

Because so many people within football - players, commentators and fans, have been proven countless times to be utterly vile misogynists? Like racism and homophobia, it's endemic within football culture.

His daughter is a shining star.

However there are big questions over the spending of the money raised for both parents possibly personal usage.

He exploited her until her last breath.

no one can argue that.

and that’s on him.

TheChosenTwo · 17/06/2026 21:05

What a revolting gobshite.

Pistachiocake · 17/06/2026 21:08

happysunr1se · 17/06/2026 18:20

I don't know who this guy is but OMG his beard is really bad, so so manky and his mouth inside that matted thatch looks like the clenched butt hole of a sheep that's been living lost on a moor for 10 years

I guess you're making the point he shouldn't say judgmental things about how women look, because it's not up to him to comment on their looks?
But there are a lot of women who unironically say nasty things about men.
Both are wrong. I feel sorry for both men and women who can't be friendly and respectful with the opposite sex.

Raised money for children with cancer, and then spent it on shit designer shoes and cars and teeth

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 17/06/2026 21:14

Yay!!! Another misogynist and abuser of women working at the beeb. So glad we pay the licence fee to keep these people employed 🙄

BBC executives perceived Cain as someone who could appeal to younger male audiences, particularly on Instagram and YouTube. In a press release to announce season one of Into the Danger Zone, Ricky Cooper, a BBC commissioning editor, described Cain as someone who “connects with young men in a truly exceptional way”. In an event for the Royal Television Society in 2025, another BBC commissioning editor, Nasfim Haque, said: “Ashley is what BBC Three is about – a new talent giving us a new perspective.”

Had the BBC conducted even a basic internet search of Cain’s background, executives are likely to have discovered Cain’s extensive history of offensive social media postings, as well as the 2015 report in the Daily Star alleging that he had posted sexually explicit footage of a woman without her consent.

I'm not a BBC basher, in fact I value a lot of what they do, but this is just appalling.

AC’s utter disgust about women is … words fail me. I would like to know how he is actually perceived by men - what proportion identify with his outrageous views.

I've never heard of him, but tbh you can see he's a dick from that photo alone so any dickish comments he makes aren't really much of a surprise.

ok i concede there are people who sit outside the venn diagram I mentioned who share those views, does'nt invalidate the venn diagram though
