Ashley Cain comments about women

Hardliner · 17/06/2026 10:11

He's not particularly on my radar, but I just read this and felt floored all over again about how some men feel about women.

I know the comments were years ago, but this kind of vile misogyny doesn't exist in a vacuum.

What a crappy start to the day.

BBC presenter Ashley Cain called women ‘slags’, ‘sluts’ and ‘bitches’

Exclusive: Cain has been lauded by corporation for his appeal to young men despite history of abusive and misogynistic remarks

Completely agree OP. What a vile individual he is. I don't give a shit that the comments were years ago: he made enough of them, very publicly, to try to make excuses now.

NedsAtomicWheelieBin · 17/06/2026 13:00

Employed by the BBC you say? They're never going to learn are they?

FizzyPopLove · 17/06/2026 13:03

I saw this this morning.

I was astonished how much hate he has for women. It’s incredible. And he’s endorsed by the BBC.

How many other men hate women this much?

Is he teaching younger men the same hate?

What is wrong with him that he is so abusive? It’s bizarre.

SilenceInside · 17/06/2026 13:07

He is grim beyond words. The BBC can’t have done any checks at all into him given what’s been publicly available online for over a decade.

tisan · 17/06/2026 15:23

.

pinkyredrose · 17/06/2026 15:27

What a sad, inadequate man.

LuckyHazelFox · 17/06/2026 15:29

The only surprising thing is that the Guardian even covered it.

Evasmissingletter · 17/06/2026 15:32

that’s appalling. He is really misogynistic and abusive. Hope BBC bin him

Pansykavalier · 17/06/2026 17:07

BBC executives perceived Cain as someone who could appeal to younger male audiences, particularly on Instagram and YouTube. In a press release to announce season one of Into the Danger Zone, Ricky Cooper, a BBC commissioning editor, described Cain as someone who “connects with young men in a truly exceptional way”. In an event for the Royal Television Society in 2025, another BBC commissioning editor, Nasfim Haque, said: “Ashley is what BBC Three is about – a new talent giving us a new perspective.”

Had the BBC conducted even a basic internet search of Cain’s background, executives are likely to have discovered Cain’s extensive history of offensive social media postings, as well as the 2015 report in the Daily Star alleging that he had posted sexually explicit footage of a woman without her consent.

I'm not a BBC basher, in fact I value a lot of what they do, but this is just appalling.

AC’s utter disgust about women is … words fail me. I would like to know how he is actually perceived by men - what proportion identify with his outrageous views.

“I don’t support criminality but I do support humanity”: Ashley Cain on his new BBC doc Into the Danger Zone

Making friends with drug dealers, gangsters and poachers for his new BBC documentary series sounds like a risky strategy for Ashley Cain. But the former Coventry City footballer and TV reality star told the RTS Midlands premiere of Into the Danger Zone...

This is the man who posted his terminally unwell child on social media. His behaviour on ex on the beach was deplorable

Itsallsostressful · 17/06/2026 17:58

He was absolutely vile when he did Ex on the Beach years ago. Treated the women disgustingly.

whippersnapper55 · 17/06/2026 18:02

I've never heard of him before but he sounds like an obnoxious little prick 😠

CurlewKate · 17/06/2026 18:07

LuckyHazelFox · 17/06/2026 15:29

The only surprising thing is that the Guardian even covered it.

Why wouldn’t they?

tisan · 17/06/2026 18:09

No, I'm not a BBC basher either, probably the opposite. This has really made me angry. If the BBC didn't do the most basic background checks on this person, - and it appears to be the case that they did not - then they deserve an absolute avalanche of criticism over this.

My prediction is that he'll go, after whatever process, and align himself with the rising right wing misogynistic movements that are gnashing their woman-hating teeth all over the place. He seems the sort that they'll embrace.

LuckyHazelFox · 17/06/2026 18:15

CurlewKate · 17/06/2026 18:07

Why wouldn’t they?

They normally go after the Andrew Tates. I guess coverage is determined by political bias.

aperolspritzbasicbitch · 17/06/2026 18:15

Ewww, he’s vile.

Nothing he does will top his exploitation of his dying child though.

it was the most disgusting attention (and money) seeking display I’ve ever seen.

happysunr1se · 17/06/2026 18:20

I don't know who this guy is but OMG his beard is really bad, so so manky and his mouth inside that matted thatch looks like the clenched butt hole of a sheep that's been living lost on a moor for 10 years

ohyesido · 17/06/2026 18:22

He does resemble a Neanderthal Viking type creature

MovedlikeHarlowinMonteCarlo · 17/06/2026 18:26

He's an awful man. His behaviour on Ex on the Beach was disgusting, his behaviour towards his dying daughter was disgusting, he made money from his "charity" and he's just an all round prick of a man.

cariadlet · 17/06/2026 18:45

I'm another one who hadn't heard of him but those comments are absolutely vile. I do wonder how bad things have to be before the BBC starts taking the vetting of employees' social media seriously - BEFORE the are given a contract.

ClareBear97 · 17/06/2026 18:49

He’s a vile individual. Look how he treated the Mother of his late daughter, talked with her about reuniting and having another child then got someone else pregnant behind her back. Always thought he was vile and I worry what sort of an influence he will be to his sons

CurlewKate · 17/06/2026 19:30

LuckyHazelFox · 17/06/2026 18:15

Fair enough. I don’t know what you mean, but hey…

LoftyPlumLion · 17/06/2026 19:41

Just seems the stereotype of mysoginist GB news right wing reform man. Farage, Middleton, Cain, Clarkson.

Nothing new, nothing nuanced. Old white Men trying to oppress women and other minorities.

neilisbangingoutthetunes · 17/06/2026 19:44

He's a talentless non-entity whose sole claim to fame is broadcasting the death of his daughter in the most public and tasteless way imaginable. Why anyone would expect more from him I don't know.
