Is my bathroom wall art ‘tacky’

Please settle a light hearted disagreement…Hubster says the new photo/poster I’ve put up in the downstairs loo will be considered ‘tacky’ by any visitors.

It’s the Mona Lisa but she’s holding her nose - you can see it on Google.

YABU - I agree with your Hubster
YANBU - it’s harmless

I refuse to use the sickly ‘D’ reference!

The word is "husband". HTH.

bigsoftcocks · 11/06/2026 22:21

hubster is way worse than your naff ‘art’!!

30dayss · 11/06/2026 22:21

It's naff but harmless (the same as is most toilet "art") and it doesn't matter what I think.

Same as "hubster" really. Like my dad thinking he is witty everytime he calls my mum's parents "the outlaws".

MargolyesofBeelzebub · 11/06/2026 22:22

I prefer the one with the clothes peg on her nose, but I would enjoy seeing it my friend's bathroom 😁 I think tacky is the wrong description, I'd say that "Live Laugh Love" bollocks is tacky 😂 this is more crude than anything. But I like it.

"Hubster" though 🤮 😂

Holidaymodeon · 11/06/2026 22:23

Literal toilet humour. With a cultural twist.
If you can’t have a silly picture in the bog then where can you?
iv seen way tackier in people’s bathrooms than an enigmatic muse holding her nose , and da Vinci himself was known for crude and bawdy humour, so carry on, knowing the artist would very likely approve.

Pippapotamus · 11/06/2026 22:23

Its very tacky and I like it! My hairdressers has a similar print which has the mona Lisa having foils done. I think my Dhubster would find your one funny

30dayss · 11/06/2026 22:24

I went to a lady's house and it was full of little signs. Especially her bathroom. The one sign in the bathroom that really made me cringe was on the toilet. It said
Ladies, please remain seated for the whole performance. Men, it's smaller than you think so stand closer.

30dayss · 11/06/2026 22:25

Nothing to see here.

Tacky, but not as bad as 'hubster'

This

TrickyD · 11/06/2026 22:27

Could have been worse. Could have been ‘hubby’.

SolveMyPrombles · 11/06/2026 22:28

Who cares what other people think! Do what you want if it doesn't hurt anyone!

Spookyspaghetti · 11/06/2026 22:30

What you ought to do now is take a photo of yourself dressed and posed like Mona Lisa holding her nose and hang it in the loo looking disapprovingly towards your husband every time he uses the bog.

I refuse to use the sickly ‘D’ reference!

"Hubster" is even more sickly. Why not just use "husband"?

InterestedDad37 · 11/06/2026 22:33

I like it - It'd make me smile 😀

Phonicshaskilledmeoff · 11/06/2026 22:39

I enjoy silly things in bathrooms 🤷‍♀️

shhblackbag · 11/06/2026 22:41

I would find it tacky if I saw it, but it's your house.

Contrarymary30 · 11/06/2026 22:41

I would find it pretty gross . Not funny at all .

Kelzzinsouth · 11/06/2026 22:48

MasterBeth · 11/06/2026 22:18

The word is "husband". HTH.

Shouldn’t that be DHTH?

I thought downstairs loos were for old photos and school certificates?
"Wall art".....no.
"Hubster"...... definitely no.
"Hilarious" pictures somehow referencing bodily functions...... absolutely not, tacky as hell

Stoneycold12 · 11/06/2026 23:19

Slowdownyouredoingfine · 11/06/2026 19:32

No it’s not tacky or chavvy. It’s pop art, very popular… it’s not in the same category as ‘live, laugh, love.’ Or ‘in this house we…’ imo. In a nicely decorated vintage style bathroom it adds a pop of character.

It's absolutely not pop art - here's a quote from a quick search 'The style often used humor and detachment to comment on postwar consumerism and celebrity obsession.'

'Poos are smelly' isn't really that humorous once you're over 8.

NameChangeMay2026 · 11/06/2026 23:22

That's grim.

I would never have that in my house in a month of Sundays.

Moveoverdarlin · 11/06/2026 23:30

Yeah really naff. My 8 year old son would find it funny.

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 11/06/2026 23:30

I’m not a fan myself, but then I’ve got a massive framed Wonder Woman poster in my bathroom so what do I know?

whatacroc · 11/06/2026 23:40

I came to post this too 🤣

I find it funny. But then I'm not snobbish like some posters on here. My kids would love it as well. I am seriously thinking about getting it for our toilet in the hall because it's the stinky one (even if clean because dh poop stinks for hours and ds1 always "forgets" to flush). The bathroom in my room doesn't smell at all and we are 3 to use that to poop- me and my ds- dh is banned from pooping there).

Gosh, imagine someone dictating to you where you can poo on your own home?!
