Is my bathroom wall art ‘tacky’

Please settle a light hearted disagreement…Hubster says the new photo/poster I’ve put up in the downstairs loo will be considered ‘tacky’ by any visitors.

It’s the Mona Lisa but she’s holding her nose - you can see it on Google.

YABU - I agree with your Hubster
YANBU - it’s harmless

Really tacky and naff. Also ‘hubster’ 🤢 I bet you say ‘picky bits’ and ‘hollibobs’.

Kelzzinsouth · 11/06/2026 18:50

I refuse to use the sickly ‘D’ reference!

Hubster is a million times worse. I'm cringing.

Then just put husband.

Love a good fuck. Literally and metaphorically

Yes, I just stumbled on you having one upthread.

Vaxtable · 11/06/2026 21:06

YABU. I’m team husband

YABVVU to call him hubster

rolloverbeethoven · 11/06/2026 21:10

I haven't voted because it doesn't matter what other people think, as long as the people living in the house are happy with it. Although it seems like your husband might not be...

chocoluv · 11/06/2026 21:11

I personally wouldn’t have it but I think you can have what you want in your home and neither of you should care what anyone else thinks.

However, if one of you doesn’t want something then they trump the one that does IMO.

ParmaVioletTea · 11/06/2026 21:12

Tacky.

And you call your husband “Hubster”- eugh.

MsAmerica · 11/06/2026 21:14

What limited options you offer us!

It's both harmless AND tacky.

Okiedokie123 · 11/06/2026 21:15

I think it is tacky. But it’s also harmless.
And hubster……. Is far more “sickly” than dh.

Growlybear83 · 11/06/2026 21:15

I suppose some people might find it tacky but I think it’s quite funny and most of our friends have a sense of humour so would be amused.

He’s accepted it’s staying..he gets little say in decor options, not that he’s usually interested. He gets to decide on the more manly decisions around DIY etc.

🙄

offtodreamland · 11/06/2026 21:32

Not my style, but I doubt anyone would be offended. Some will laugh and some will question your taste. It does seem the kind of thing that both of you should agree on, if you share the home. I'd be very displeased if DH knew I hated something but put it up on display anyway, especially in such a shared room as the bathroom.

Pandasarethebest · 11/06/2026 21:32

I think there are worse things.

We have animals on toilet and in bath framed.

Downstairs we have 'even in a rush don't forget to flush'. Not that they read that!

I just remember from childhood a restuarant that had pigs on toilets eating spaghetti bolognese. It made me howl as a child. Ive mainly grown up but....

I completely agree.

Reallyneedsaholiday · 11/06/2026 21:49

It’s not to my own taste but I know plenty of people that would find it amusing. My (now ex) would have been one of them. It’s ok to disagree with your “hubster” over it, but I’d see it a bit baby names. Needs two to say “yes” to any decor/ art in a shared space. If you have your own room, then decorate it however you choose, but he also lives there.

ClairDeLaLune · 11/06/2026 21:51

Tacky af.

AnnieApples · 11/06/2026 21:55

I would never use ‘DH’ in a month of Sundays, but ‘hubster’ is actually more nauseating. AND it has no fewer letters than ‘husband’, so what’s the point?

weareallcats · 11/06/2026 21:59

I quite enjoy kitsch and tongue in cheek tacky - can be very cool if done well. I’m on the fence.

fluffiphlox · 11/06/2026 22:02

Sounds utterly naff to me.

MyDandyUmberDuck · 11/06/2026 22:04

To be honest when I clicked the link I presumed it was a yes. Now I’ve read it it’s a definite yes.

Just had look OP.
She looks as though she has forgotten her hanky and is blowing her nose with her fingers. Pretty gross. I wouldn't like that poster in my home at all.

Edited

Before the advent of handkerchiefs in Europe (Richard II introduced them in England and was considered effete) that's how you blew your nose. No, I don't know what you did with the snot.

LadyRoughDiamond · 11/06/2026 22:12

Yes. Yes it is.

AnonymityAnonymity · 11/06/2026 22:14

Thanks for that @Grammarnut !

I studied social history in the very , very, distant past but that information passed me by. Thankfully.

Happyjoe · 11/06/2026 22:16

It's fine, the world would be very boring if we all liked the same thing. I don't think I could poop though, with her eyes following me !
