Is my bathroom wall art ‘tacky’

Please settle a light hearted disagreement…Hubster says the new photo/poster I’ve put up in the downstairs loo will be considered ‘tacky’ by any visitors.

It’s the Mona Lisa but she’s holding her nose - you can see it on Google.

YABU - I agree with your Hubster
YANBU - it’s harmless

OP posts:

Its funny and tacky. My dad had one of the Mona Lisa smoking a joint in his bathroom, and idk why as he was very heavily against weed.

WhatcakeshalIbaketoday · 11/06/2026 19:43

My hubster is hubbo and I’m wifey woo woo.

Alright, sorry for cringing anyone out. 😆

Justbreathagain · 11/06/2026 19:44

I like it and I don't consider it tacky. It's funny. It you her lots round the house like this then yes it could be tacky. But just this especially in a posh type eot bathroom would be very funny

Justbreathagain · 11/06/2026 19:45

Bumbelinaaa · 11/06/2026 19:24

By suggesting the OP might be “commenting on the woman’s anatomy”, do you mean the picture could insinuate that someone’s vagina smells? Because that’s quite a leap!

I do personally think it’s tacky, however I’m sure some people come to my house and think the same 🤷🏻‍♀️

This is your home, so crack on if you like it! I don’t think any reasonable person could take issue with you displaying it.

Pun intended ?

BlackCat14 · 11/06/2026 19:45

YABU for not bothering to link the picture.

YABU for saying “hubster.”

YANBU for the wall art. If that’s your humour/style then go for it, downstairs loos are perfect for pictures like that.

literallyevery · 11/06/2026 19:46

Naaa it’s fine, it’s a bit of a laugh. Who cares? YOLO (yes I said that to be tacky)

This is hilarious.

ObliviousCoalmine · 11/06/2026 19:47

It is tacky, but I’m not clicking anything that aligns me with someone called “hubster”.

Lifeomars · 11/06/2026 19:49

That's the first time I've encountered "hubster" and it is even tackier than "hubby" and as for the wall art...

Thebigonesgetaway · 11/06/2026 19:51

im not sure it’s very funny, as it’s quite obvious, expected. if that makes sense.

I think these things can work, but in th4 right context. my home is quite large and is listed, it’s from the 1600s. And I tend to go for elegant muted colours,, and have lots of antique artwork, and I have this buried in amongst some old paintings.. It always makes people do a double take, peer at it and laugh as it’s unexpected and not obvious.

so it’s not stand alone, it’s just kind of sitting in amongst some genuine antique paintings,

I think the issue with yours is it’s just a bit of an obvious joke.

youplonkerrodney · 11/06/2026 19:52

LOL well it’s a bit tacky but I find people who take themselves and their decor too seriously far more eye-rolling than a bit of choice tat, so I say go for it!

OrdinaryMoment · 11/06/2026 19:52

Very tacky indeed IMO, but it’s your house.

ClayPotaLot · 11/06/2026 19:54

I do think it's a bit tacky, but I'm not averse to small doses of tacky in the right context from time to time. I think loos are a great place for it. Much prefer a loo with a bit of character, even if it's tacky character, than a boring plain one.

Wre · 11/06/2026 19:56

Haven’t seen it but I think you both need to like the decor. I like quirky art but I don’t like temu crap.

Hubster and manly jobs make me crossed eyed.

The first answer is bizarre! What is the poster on about re anatomy? Help me to understand!

RaininSummer · 11/06/2026 19:56

Not my taste at all. Kid humour.

Well I prefer the OPs art then. Don't see why you would think your art is more subtle and sophisticated- it's just boring.

MyCrushWithEyeliner · 11/06/2026 19:57

Not keen on AI ‘art’, it looks naff.

I didn't find that one remotely funny. Is the joke the use of the "F" word? I hate that word. It's vulgar and not remotely funny.

Horses7 · 11/06/2026 19:58

It’s pretty tacky to call your husband hubster tbh!
I don’t know anyone who has anything remotely like your Mona Lisa print (TTL) and I’ve got friends of all ages and backgrounds.
I prefer to call her Monsta Lista btw.

GooseCreekandtheRiver · 11/06/2026 20:00

I like it. It shows you don’t take yourself too seriously.

LettuceAndCarrots · 11/06/2026 20:02

I think it's tacky and wouldn't want it in my toilet, but aso harmless.

Lifeomars · 11/06/2026 20:03

About a thousand years ago, when I was a child on a family holiday, I was highly amused by a sign I saw in a souvenir shop and have never forgotten it. At age 10, I thought it was the height of wit. It was a ceramic plaque with a picture of a toilet on it and bore these words:

"Keep me clean and serve me well and what I see I'll never tell"

Impressive stealth brag!

It's tacky but funny and it's in the right place, so I love it! if I didn't know you too well, I would take it as a sign that you don't take life and decor too seriously, which I would really love if the rest of your house is perfectly styled. But then I desperately want that poster of the dragon holding out a toilet roll, that says, "Your butt napkins, my lady" but we already have tasteful stuff in the downstairs loo that DH (sorry!) insists is staying.

Edited

I do like 'butt napkins'.

In our household, we usually refer to them as either cleft folios or ablution scrolls.
