"Race-based pogrom" and "huge act of self-harm by mindless idiots who are actually only damaging their own futures".

Northern Ireland's First Minister Michelle O'Neill says "groups of masked men" were "burning families out of their homes"

One pastor in north Belfast says black people's homes were targeted, while an MP tells the BBC there was a "race-based pogrom"

The PSNI Chief Constable Jon Boutcher says the violent disorder in Belfast was a "huge act of self-harm by mindless idiots who are actually only damaging their own futures".

I agree with all the quotes. Sick of mindless racist thugs and their 'protests', where they look like they are enjoying themselves while they commit violence and set fire to things.

Homes set on fire in Belfast night of violence as MP says people targeted based on skin colour - follow live

On one street, hundreds of masked men carrying bottles and bricks set bins on fire and shouted "foreigners out", our reporter says.

Maybe I'm half Sudanese half Afghan? Maybe minorities make me feel safer because I am one?

If you're a woman, that's not very likely. Or maybe you're unaware of the treatment of women in Afghanistan and Sudan? If so, I suggest you do some reading about it.

Yeah you're right. Unlikely combo. Bad examples. But the point stands.

I know, I’m pointing out that Irish anti immigration sentiment isn’t exclusive to Northern Irish loyalists. Aka it doesn’t just stem from being ‘British and racist’

Irish anti immigration sentiment is an issue for Ireland.

Racist violence in Belfast and across NI is a big expensive problem happening in the UK.

They’re not entirely separate though are they?

Once again, you are acting as if you don't know, using 'Irish' when the thread topic is about Northern Ireland, which is UK. There is no need to drag the discussion off topic into Dublin or 'Irish anti immigration sentiment'.
'Ireland' and 'Irish' aren't synonymous with Northern Ireland.

Loyalists themselves would be the ones to argue that actually they are very separate.

They're both racism.🤷‍♀️

However, the racism and racist violence we're talking about here is all about the UK. Our citizens, our homes, our businesses, our children. I know there's a tendency for English people to believe we're not really part of the UK but that is factually incorrect.

Racism in Ireland is not lead by NI loyalists. Ireland doesn't have NI loyalists. Just as racism in Germany and Italy is not lead by NI loyalists. They dont have NI loyalists either.

A peaceful march urging immigration reform
is racist?

English people know Northern Ireland is part of the UK, but the situation there is so complex it can only really be understood by people who grew up there or have lived there a long time. It’s not the kind of thing you can get to grips with by reading articles.

There was a man from Belfast on LBC earlier saying the loyalists aren’t Irish, they should be deported back to Scotland and England.

It’s all incredibly confusing to people who have watched from afar.

If it’s confusing to you then perhaps engage with the conversation in a way that doesn’t have you repeatedly trying to correct or argue with people over points you clearly don’t understand.

Plenty of times.
Most recently “I know, I’m pointing out that Irish anti immigration sentiment isn’t exclusive to Northern Irish loyalists.”
Of course Irish anti immigration sentiment isn't exclusive to NI loyalist, because loyalists by definition are not Irish they are British.
They are two different counties with different immigration laws and policy, what are you comparing? The fact that you call them Irish in the first place shows how much you know.

It’s civil unrest

They want societal and political change to make their streets safer.

People are tipping over the edge and do not know how to force changes because their government is placing people from violent cultures with mental health issues from their experiences who go round raping young girls and women, murdering random people and attempting to behead victims in the street making people naturally feel uncomfortable.

Young men do not want to stand back because they have an enemy inside their fortress they want to protect. It’s as basic as that so they’re in a state of frenzy. Blind red rage uncontrollable frenzy.

Walking through a swarm of male illegal immigrants heading your way as they leave their hostel or place of worship as they stare and smirk at you is not pleasant. It is very ominous, uncomfortable and scary.

I have no idea how this is going to play out but tensions are bubbling over the surface countrywide and it’s increasing not subsiding.

Yes you get undesirable yobs behaving disgracefully to locals they live amongst who use the unrest for their own purposes so they need to keep their loutish behaviour in check and realise they also torment innocent people on their own doorstep. That needs to stop because they themselves create fear. But that’s not civil unrest that’s antisocial behaviour. Combining these is a problem as we are witnessing

Interesting that it happened in one of the least diverse areas of the UK.

Not really - one of the least diverse but also one of the least tolerant and the most armed.

It's all very depressing. The BBC report that in other developments:

  • 27 people have been made homeless "because people went door-to-door to try and target foreign nationals", a UK minister has said
  • A two-month-old baby was among those rescued during Tuesday's violence, the Police Service of Northern Ireland's chief constable said
  • Police say social media users "highlighting properties" by posting addresses online or through apps are "putting lives at risk" and may be committing a crime
  • Two police officers were injured as they tackled the violence in Belfast on Tuesday night
  • Two men have been been charged - a 42-year-old was charged with riot, attempted criminal damage and assault, and a 39-year-old man was charged with riot
  • There were also three arrests as two police officers and three members of the public were injured in Glasgow after the unrest spread to Scotland
  • Lord Mayor of Belfast, Sinn Féin's Róis-Máire Donnelly, said she had received death threats
  • The Stormont Executive held an emergency online meeting
  • Several hundred people took part in an anti-immigration rally in Dublin city centre
  • The chief executives of Northern Ireland's health trusts say the current unrest is having a profound impact on services, which are already under enormous strain

If you know anything about these people it’s not civil unrest, it’s thuggish behaviour and a show that they put on every single summer regardless of the reason. Loyalist riot all summer long.
They couldn’t give a shit that a man was attacked and they certainly don’t give a shit about anyone being raped, what a mad thing to assert. Their very own political leader is currently on trial for raping two children and they couldn’t care less, they have nothing to say about it.

It would make a difference to how safe people feel and how safe they are.

If they all vanished a year ago instead of tomorrow a fair few people would still be alive/not the victim of rape/attack wouldn't they?

I expect most British people would gladly pay double what we pay to keep these people to keep them out.

That's a pretty big goalpost move you done there.

Alottatopspin · 11/06/2026 08:48

Loyalist paramilitaries and wannabes have been stocking racial tensions over the last few years. It’s an absolute disgrace.
Want to protest? Then walk up to Stormont and protest. This going house to house looking for non whites is nothing but racism.
there are about 2.5k asylum seekers in NI being supported out of a population of almost 2
million people.
which means most of the ‘foreigners’ are just people getting in with their day to day lives, working, and those people are less than 0.1% of the population over all.
These hoods think the world owes them a living. And it’s all being stoked up on Social Media by men claiming they’re protecting women.
Haven't seen any rioting over all the domestic violence cases the last few years, or over the rapist politician or over the poor heavily pregnant who’s was murdered last year by a white man.
Fucking racists - that’s all they are.

Still waiting to see them protesting Donaldson if they’re so concerned about protecting girls!
