'Afghan men 'fled UK in lorry after raping girl'

Mobile phone footage recovered from Safi's phone showed the men in the lorry laughing and gesticulating, which Hetherington said suggested they thought they "got away with it".

When they were found by French police in Calais on 3 December, they were returned to the UK.
Hetherington said the trio had no travel documents or identification and had given false names to French authorities.
After their real names were checked on police systems, they were arrested on suspicion of rape.
Sali, of St Werburghs, denies one count of human trafficking and two charges of rape.
Habibkheil, of Lockleaze, denies one count of human trafficking and one charge of rape.
Ahmadzai, of Redcliffe, denies one charge of rape and one charge of assault by penetration.
The 16-year-old also denied one charge of rape.
The trial continues.'

A jury is told three defendants left the country in a "deeply unusual" way after the alleged rape.

Muhammed Al Shaker Al Tamimi attempted to claim asylum in Ireland, but he was subsequently convicted and sentenced to life in prison for the murder of his eight-year-old daughter, Malika, and the attempted murder of her mother. 1, 2]
Background and Immigration Status
UK Conviction: Al Tamimi had previously lived in the United Kingdom, where he was convicted of attempted rape and served a prison sentence. 1]
Move to Ireland: Upon his release from prison in the UK, he traveled directly to Ireland, where he attempted to claim asylum. 1, 2]
The Crime: Just days after arriving back in the lives of his family in New Ross, Co. Wexford, he committed a violent knife attack on December 1, 2024

He had applied for asylum, passed the finger print test, allowed to live in the public while application is processed. He left a uk prison, came to Ireland claimed he was running from the Middle East.

That the EU and the UK aren't sharing information properly is really bad. There has been focus on how that harms the UK, but it also harms EU countries as well
.I agree we need to more vetting but in order for that be effective we need more access to theinformation held by EU countries and vice versa. This was last year so I think they are still trying to fix it. But you would think it would be in the EUs interest as well. https://www.lbc.co.uk/article/starmers-eu-criminal-migrant-5Hjd6K5_2/

Starmer’s bid to boost border security blocked by EU over criminal and migrant data access | LBC

Sir Keir Starmer's efforts to enhance border security were thwarted after the European Union declined the UK's request for access to crucial databases used to track criminals and migrants.

(if the EU and the UK aren't sharing fingerprint data which they weren't when Tamimi went to Ireland as we had left the EU) then the fingerprint test presumably won't have shown his UK status or convictions there.

The Sudanese man entered via Dublin. EU sharing didn’t stop it.

Still evading. Do you want to see the same violence perpetrated in Sudan here then?

Can you be clear on that

Are you okay with the British perpetrating the levels of violence they did in Iraq? Was that okay because it wasn’t on your doorstep?

No, thankfully a million people marched against it in London; even if the government did not pay heed.

Skybluepinky · 11/06/2026 10:37

Ridiculous that in some areas there are hotels full of asylum seekers who are here because they would be killed in their own country as they are child sex offenders, meaning our police forces are having to try and keep an eye on them (no extra police officers for this).

I thought you’d evade. Hard one isn’t it, I’m sure you don’t really want the same violence here as Sudan.

Of course not, no one would, apart from a few posts on mn you really don’t want what Sudanese women and girls are going through, and men and boys. It’s more of what happened in Belfast and worse.

Not even the most dedicated Owen Jones types want that everywhere here.

I also don’t want what Iraqi women and girls were put through at the hands of British men. See what the common denominator is there? Men.

Nor the rapist deported from Italy who was murdered by another resident from the accommodation in Dublin, he’d been deported from Italy to Nigeria and then flew to Ireland to claim asylum, living in government accommodation so they’re not checking with any other European countries either.
There is no EU sharing.

Agree. It’s not happening. Similar crimes are happening throughout the EU.

How do you think those poor women and girls are treated at the hands of the Iraqi men? Or Afghanistan men, since the British men were in there too. Men are shits, but it’s generally frowned upon in the west.

Isn't there a party we can all vote for which suggests - to begin with - all asylum applicants no longer be hosted on British soul whilst waiting for their applications?

You mean like the Tory's Rwanda plan that Starmer scrapped before it got going?

Except, there were people who seemed completely fine with female care workers and women with small children having their homes burned by an angry mob. If it wasn't for the actions of a pastor someone could have died yesterday. Someone still might. Likewise when a Sikh woman was mistaken for a Muslim and raped, the response from some was that it was wrong because Sikhs aren't a problem.
That doesn't excuse the crimes of Iraqi or Sudanese or Afgnanostani men. But my worry is while VAWG might be "frowned upon in the West" people seem increasingly happy to make exceptions. And anyone trying to push back on that is labelled far left or it's implied they don't care about foreign rapists.

Is it frowned upon in the West? What West do you live in? Were those men in Belfast concerned about the women and children residing in the homes they set on fire? Have a word with yourself.

Sudan, Afghanistan, Iran none are all much worse for women and girls.

Ik people like Owen Jones will push out messaging that we should atone and take more violence back but why would you want that?

Actual horrific violence, it’s not an mn post with some words, it’s really horrific stuff. You can be in a safer country and not want more violence to equalise things.

Men like Owen Jones would last two minutes there and b) they are not women. It’s not their safety to give away.

It was Stephen Yaxley Lennon who said it first and it was picked up on by others. He didn't actually say that it would have been ok if it was a Muslim woman though. Just: it's really bad. We don't have a problem with Sikhs. That was before he was kicking up trouble against Sikhs of course.

It was implying rape was generally frowned upon.
I was referring to western society, not the violent pocket known as Belfast.
Why would you think I’d support those thugs on the street in that picket of NI? Was it my username? Hmm.

Even thinking along those lines is absolutely disgusting. Humanity is falling apart.

MaturingCheeseball · 11/06/2026 11:03

Sudan has a Foreign Office “do not travel” advisory. Funnily enough I’ve failed to spot one for my local town, even though it is what might be termed “rough”.

Police checks as I said. It’s better than zero checks don’t you think?

Which country sees more attacks such as the one in Belfast? The U.K. or Sudan?

Which country UK or Sudan? UK is not a country - which one?

England's crime rate is 6800/100,000
Sudan's crime rate is 221/100,000

So England's crime rate is higher.

What are these police checks you talk about?

So a rapist can be allowed in on police checks and that is ok for them because they were checked and he never said "I am a rapist" so that works well for you does it?

Not a great checking system when we let in so many rapists with these 'checks'....
