'Afghan men 'fled UK in lorry after raping girl'

Mobile phone footage recovered from Safi's phone showed the men in the lorry laughing and gesticulating, which Hetherington said suggested they thought they "got away with it".

When they were found by French police in Calais on 3 December, they were returned to the UK.
Hetherington said the trio had no travel documents or identification and had given false names to French authorities.
After their real names were checked on police systems, they were arrested on suspicion of rape.
Sali, of St Werburghs, denies one count of human trafficking and two charges of rape.
Habibkheil, of Lockleaze, denies one count of human trafficking and one charge of rape.
Ahmadzai, of Redcliffe, denies one charge of rape and one charge of assault by penetration.
The 16-year-old also denied one charge of rape.
The trial continues.'

Afghan men accused of fleeing UK after raping girl in Bristol

A jury is told three defendants left the country in a "deeply unusual" way after the alleged rape.

Sigh. We live in a patriarchal society. VAWG is horrendous. We do not need more unvetted unknown men, from countries where women are by default 2nd class citizens, entering the country. Again - it's not rocket science.

And please - do not attempt to compare the way men treat women in eg. Iran / Afghanistan / Iraq (etc) to the UK.

So you are happy with letting in unvetted abusers and rapists on visas though - 42 million per year....why?

And yes they are just the same, saying being raped by a British man is not as bad as being raped by an Afghani is disgusting. Why defend British rapists saying they should not be compared to Afghani rapists?

BelieveInCher · 11/06/2026 09:33

I absolutely will compare it, because the ideology is no different - it’s the manifestation that changes according to circumstances.

And women are second class citizens right here in the UK. A man is more likely to be jailed for stealing a car than he is for raping a woman. So you can sigh all you want, I refuse to use women’s pain and suffering to justify racism. Men are, and will always be, the problem. Regardless of ethnicity or nationality.

Sigh. Yes we all know men are an issue. We don't need more unvetted unknown men in the UK. Admit it - you'll feel better.

But what checks are done?

So my rapist could get checks and walk into another country 'vetted' and rape...

Because checks do not show he is a rapist...

And he will be doing....

So what protection do checks bring if they do not show who is a rapist or an abuser and they are let into the country?

Police checks as I said. It’s better than zero checks don’t you think?

Which country sees more attacks such as the one in Belfast? The U.K. or Sudan?

That is not what I was saying at all. Comprehension is not your strong point OR you're being wilfully ignorant. Or perhaps a bit of both. Either way you are not posting in good faith. So goodbye from me.

Why do you keep sighing? It’s interesting that you keep repeating yourself without actually contributing to the discussion. This is not Twitter and you’re not at a riot you know, you can’t just keep yelling into the ether.

PinkandPerky · 11/06/2026 09:43

It's not the first time that the victim, Stephen Ogilvie, has been horrifically attacked I just found out.

This poor chap was abducted, drugged and tortured by homegrown thugs 25 years ago.
This has made me feel so, so sad for the man. How can attempted murder happen twice to the same man who everyone described as harmless and caring?

The government are letting vulnerable people down all over the place all the time.

All violent men need managing much more stringently by authorities. They know who they are - just like they know who half the people rioting in Belfast are. They just do the bare miminum and the British public pay the price.

Do you think violence happens at the same rate in Sudan as the U.K.?

So a bit of rape and murder is okay as long as the menfolk don’t go too far? What percentage of women and girls in this country is it acceptable to use as collateral in your opinion?

liamharha · 11/06/2026 09:49

Yes ,but it won't we will just be told us wanting it dealt with means we are far right . It's a vicious circle that's going to go in and in until the next general election unfortunately. Theb we will either end up living in Polanski's alternative reality utopia ot Farages nazi Germany ,the UK is doomed. I'd just love afir government with common sense .

I’ll answer after you do. Is the violence more or less in Sudan compared with the U.K.?

Well seeing as the UK regularly sends scores of its men abroad to brutalise entire countries for spurious reasons I would be reticent to compare “rates” of violence between one country and another, as once again, it seems it’s a-okay when white men are doing it.

How many Iraqis were killed in the “war” again? 1 million wasn’t it? And that’s a conservative estimate. How many women and children do you think that was? Killed at the hands of British men who sailed, flew and drove over to Iraq on a campaign of terror. Did the Iraqis get to vet those men? Did they get to riot? What are your thoughts on all those British men rocking up in their ships and tanks?

Some of these have reported cases against them, they’re not even weeding out the ones who have been arrested within Europe and deported from previous countries.

@BelieveInCher - so what’s the plan then? Let in every man in the world because, in your opinion, British men are worse? All British men? Do you have a father? Brothers? I’m assuming you have no sons or indeed daughters from your posts.

You are suffering, I’m afraid, from what is called Suicidal Empathy. I suggest you take a nice holiday to Sudan or Somalia, indeed Afghanistan too, and report back on how it went down for a lone woman compared to travelling round the UK.

The plan should always be to tackle misogyny. It’s pretty simple really. Stop with the whataboutery about country X or ethnicity Y and tackle misogyny.

And what on earth does me having a father/brothers/children have to do with anything? What’s your point there? Do you hold your relatives to a different standard when it comes to committing rape and abuse?

Always with the whataboutery. So many women cannot face the fact that “their” men are just as misogynistic as “those men over there”.

MaturingCheeseball · 11/06/2026 10:18

We were. Then we left the EU and information sharing became harder. Then Labour started trying to do more return deals with France etc and more information sharing as part of the "smash the gangs" plan but I don't know how effective that is.
I'm not sure when the men came into the country or how they came into the country so it's hard to know if this would have made a difference. They could have come on a boat and been going through the application process. They could have completed it. They could also have been part of a resettlement scheme. I agree we need better checks.

Well technically if you mean equalised within the context of the actual harm perpetrated by Sudanese nationals versus British nationals the world over then I’m afraid we have the Sudanese beat on that. But of course, as long as it’s not being done to you or on your doorstep then it doesn’t matter does it?

Can you be clear on that
