Apparently Nicola has just announced her new pronouns- him/not me.

(Sorry if this has already been posted a million times.)

I mean, your husband gives his employer, a political party, a £100k “loan” to aid cash flow.

You, as leader of said party, your husbands employer, see nothing wrong here that warrants you to look a little more closely at what exactly you are signing off on?

FFS. And we are supposed to believe she is a victim here?

Exactly.

The biggest % you can EVER have is 100%. But I am interested in what 1000% is. Can you explain it?

Thanks to @MrsHattie and @Zebrah for their replies which have saved me saying much the same.

But suffice to say I really really really really really really really really really really totally agree. See what I did there 10 x totally (100%) agreeing = 1000%.

I am sure people who have lived in countries with hyperinflation would have loved 100% to be the biggest percentage you can ever have but alas maths says otherwise.

I do think so, yes.

And fwiw, I don't see huge amounts of 'venom'. We are discussing the leader of a political party who had responsibilty for signing off on accounts that we now know were being embezzled from. She also attacked anyone asking questions or raising concerns.

Those of us who have spent years being slurred and dismissed and sneered at by this woman and those in her circle also are often angry. I would say often understandably so. We've been called every name under the sun, attacked, smeared, vilified, sacked, shunned and threatened. For many years we were treated as though we were beyond the pale. Why? Because we didn't want men in women's rape centres, prisons, hostels, changing rooms, etc.

And the woman who styled herself as a gracious and stunning progressive turns out to have been covering for an absurd and tawdry programme of theft. Her hubris and arrogance are ridiculous. People get angry at hypocrisy.

Personally, I'm just finding it depressing that the whole history of Scottish politics over the past decade or so comes down to grubby venality. It ought to have been obvious, really - anyone making the vicious attacks that Sturgeon and her cronies made generally is doing so as a defensive measure, and most of the time the reasons are not very special, but common or garden grubbing for power, money, and fame.

Still. It's unedifying, depressing, and grim that our lovely country has been so badly served by these people.

I am a former SNP member. The only 'venom' that I'm aware of is the venom towards those who didn't toe the party line and were driven out. (I'm not important enough to have been driven out; I left of my own accord.)

My husband and I keep separate finances. As I said my in laws also have a long drive to the side of their house which I never go down. So I theory my husband could easily purchase a motor home and store it there and I would be none the wise. How are you supposed to know your husband has bought something if they don’t tell you and you don’t see it and they don’t use it in front of you?

You're supposed to know that the accounts for the party that you lead are in order.

The correct response when those accounts are queried is not to warn people off from discussing them. That's not incompetence - that's suspicious, bullying behaviour.

Jedentag · 01/06/2026 17:34

I cant believe some people have fallen for it.

What giving a woman a nickname that portrays her as a physically challenged man who is known as a comedian isn't misogynistic?

I agree that the nickname is misogynistic. However, it's more layered than that - Jimmy Krankie is a schoolboy character* actually portrayed by an older woman.

The meme was also applied to Ruth Davidson a few times, but it failed to stick.

*Jimmy Clitheroe rip-off, IMO. JC was portrayed by a physically challenged man.

Initial explanation was that it was for campaigning in 2021 Scottish Parliament election (with Covid restrictions still in place). I think the idea was that it would be self contained and allow the team to work as a group while minimising other contact.

I assumed it was possible that it was purchased genuinely with the intention of using it as a campaign vehicle, and then not used because things changed. But that he then didn’t give it back or had it sold to makes funds available to the party perhaps implies he was hoping to just keep it.

I think that is what muddied the waters. Potentially acquired legitimately, but later actions become embezzlement.

edit - sorry, cross posted with a bunch of others 🙂

Edited

That’s helpful thank you, although I’m more confused now.

So Murrell went out and bought a campaign bus without informing the SNP treasurer who then found out by looking at the party accounts at a later date. No meeting to discuss or sign off for a capital purchase.

He then parked it at his mums house where Nicola ‘doesn’t consciously recall’ seeing it but it was on the accounts by this time and someone decided it was no longer needed but it was known about by at least the treasurer but still no one had mentioned its existence to Nicola even though it was bought as a campaign bus for an election and she was party leader.

Have I understood this correctly?

All these threads laced with vitriol directed at Nicola are just proving the point that women in politics are subjected to a degree of hatred never directed at male politicians.

It's truly embarrassing the number of posters on a site which is supposed to be primarily for women and supportive of women are so obviously enjoying putting the boot into another woman.

I'm not 'putting rhe boot into another woman'. I'm highlighting that rhe way rhe SNP was run made it possible for this to happen. NS was leader of SNP. Pm was CEO. NS was signing off accounts. She was denying all concerns re accounts, even as Auditors were being denied access and resigning. NS is no friend to women anyway, just ask Joanna Cherry or any women's rights group in Scotland.

You either agree or you don’t, there are no “layers” to misogyny or xenophobia.

Differentforgirls · 01/06/2026 17:58

Ok. I’ll go and try to figure out what 1000% is. It’s like trying g to catch smoke. It’s simple arithmetic btw.

Of course it's misogynistic.

All misogyny is bad. The "Krankie" example is even worse than many realise. The misogynistic abuse within the Krankie epithet/meme is layered: it is abusive on many levels.

Differentforgirls · 01/06/2026 18:02

MrsHattie · 01/06/2026 14:19

1000% is 10 times as much, because 100% is a whole. So 1000% of 10 would be 10 x 10.

If you had a £200 pepper grinder for example, then 1000% of that cost would be £2000.

🤐

Hyperinflation. Which, ironically, is exactly what would happen if Scotland gained independence. Such a shame some of the Nats just refuse to see the reality of it.

I think this is a great idea. There seems to be such a tangled web of lies and deceit that it seems ludicrous to expect an honest report to come out of this.

While I’m sure there are many good and honest people that could be involved in an inquiry, it seems like quite a long shot to hope they would be allowed to do their job unimpeded.

I would also like to know what information Peter Murrell wants to prevent being made public that is so bad he’d plead guilty so quickly.

It IS a good idea, yes.
Police Scotland are not 'the keystone cops' (I live here, do I presume I'm allowed to comment?) But it's interesting rhat this comes to Court just after the Scottish election isn't it?
A small cabal of politicians, lawyers, those at rhe top of various professions. Knew each other. Stayed in line. 'Wheesht for Indy'.

The public uproar over Isla Bryson, double rapist, being placed in a women's prison.

By the SPS in line with UK legislation brought in by the Justice Secretary ( Kenny McAskill) with approval from the FM (Alex Salmond).
