Earliest time to cut the grass tomorrow??

I’m on a new build estate, so lots of people living around me. I need to cut the grass tomorrow but want to do it as early as possible to avoid the heat - health conditions make it too difficult once it warms up. Obviously I don’t want to be a dick though 🤦‍♀️

What’s the consensus? 9am???

Personally, I would wait until 10am to make any garden noise midweek or weekend. Although we had an old neighbour who would wake us up pressure washing his van loudly on a weekend before 9am. It used to drive me mad.

Absolutely no earlier than 10am and I would suggest 11am is far more reasonable.

I think most people would agree that someone who doesn’t get up until 11am is a ‘late riser’. Would you be willing to make no noise in your garden post 8pm for the sake of those who are early to bed and early risers?

10am .

You always get the night owls on these kind of threads who insist anything before 12pm is antisocial (but don't seem to realise that means they should make no noise after 6pm in return because of baby bedtimes). Realistically, 8am is perfectly legal but most people will wait till 9am. Surely most people sleep in the front bedroom though and so won't be affected by someone mowing the lawn before they get up? Personally I don't find garden noise annoying.

Not a single poster has suggested not before midday on this thread

Strong majority is saying 10am

This is a new build estate still in development, so Monday to Friday the site traffic and noise starts at 8.

Sunday is the sacrosanct day that we all seem to try and respect.

We bought on a new build the construction noise was relentless until competed. Even when they were working inside it was the van doors and chatter.

If it was a neighbour I'd be happy with after 8am weekdays and 9am weekends for any garden noise.

I personally would go an hour later so closer to 10am at weekends if I could around my plans for the day. I personally hate gardening noise after 6om. It's the end of my day and I want to chill.

Does building work happen on a Sunday?

No, nothing on a Sunday and rarely on a Saturday actually.

I have to say, the builders have been very considerate throughout. Through the week, there is noise but it’s not as relentless as some people experience.

10 am. Sunday might be the only opportunity some people get to.have a lie in.

It’s a minefield isn’t it? A lot of young kids are in bed for 7, but I don’t think many people would say that no one should make any noise after 7pm in case it woke babies/kids up. Yet people generally agree that adults shouldn’t be woken in the morning.
We’re early to bed and early risers due to a disabled child. In the summer our neighbours regularly have guests round in their garden and they keep us awake until midnight ish, yet it would be frowned upon for my disabled child to play in the garden and potentially wake them at 7am.
Realistically, neighbour noise is just a fact of life.

We have our very loud TV on this Sunday like many others (up against the party wall) due to the noise they made last night. Sick fed up of it. We will just keep going, making sure they don't get a restful lie in. If they stopped at midnight that would be brilliant but they don't, they keep it going until 2am. The 5yo has been sent overnight to a relatives house so that they can get their precious "lie in". Ha, it won't be a peaceful one.

Well, in a shocking conclusion to this great debate… my neighbour beat me to it and was out just before 9am 😂

I did a more respectable 9.30… which in hindsight just meant that the overall, combined noise went on for a lot longer but that can’t be helped.

I wimped out of the decision in the end and did it yesterday evening just in case it rained.
So glad to have got it done.

Now you know for next time that 9am is ok round your way - unless everyone has complained about it of course!

@user1476613140 you should have gone the whole hog, got the lawnmower out. Hoovered near any adjoining rooms and maybe had a water fight in the garden or got the pressure washer out.
