Earliest time to cut the grass tomorrow??

TakingThePeanutsCarol · 30/05/2026 17:16

I’m on a new build estate, so lots of people living around me. I need to cut the grass tomorrow but want to do it as early as possible to avoid the heat - health conditions make it too difficult once it warms up. Obviously I don’t want to be a dick though 🤦‍♀️

What’s the consensus? 9am???

Auroraloves · 30/05/2026 18:51

I’d say 10am

CoudyWithAChanceOfCustard · 30/05/2026 18:53

I’d say 9am would be ‘ok’…but 10am on a Sunday would be better. I’m an early riser myself so it wouldn’t bother me at all, but let’s give people grace…it’s Sunday, it might be their only chance of a lie in!

youalright · 30/05/2026 18:56

9am absolute earliest. 10 would be better

8am

I would hate you to be my neighbour

PotteringAlonggotkickedoutandhadtoreregister · 30/05/2026 18:58

Do it tonight!

Next door might be annoying but other neighbours have to put up with their late noise and your early mornings. I wouldn’t start before 10.

I only have one set of neighbours, the annoying ones who keep my kids awake until midnight!

ShetlandishMum · 30/05/2026 18:59

Sunday? 10 am.

Summer26 · 30/05/2026 19:04

I would say 9am is fine OP with the caveat that I one lived in a terribly naice area, where after my DH cut the grass at 9.45am on a Sunday we received a letter from my neighbours advising 10am was the earliest allowable time. This was actually true, a local law.

10

but where is going to be hot tomorrow?

I'm in Essex and even we are forecast to have it cool down tomorrow - I'm desperate for my flight to cool down so I'm very pleased but also confused because it doesn't look as if the temperature is coming down much tonight.

Edited

Your flight? 🛫

Nope, still hot tomorrow for me

It really isn’t.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 30/05/2026 19:14

9

Witchonenowbob · 30/05/2026 19:14

9am although I’d not be bothered by you doing in at 6am, but some would.

TakingThePeanutsCarol · 30/05/2026 19:16

Ha, I love the range of comments on this.

The 7am/8am crowd - you’re sociopaths 😂😂

To those saying do it tonight - not possible unfortunately. I literally have a window tomorrow morning to get it done.

To those saying it’s not hot tomorrow - who knows, maybe it will cool down. But the crux of question could still stand on any hot or cold day… what is the earliest acceptable time on a Sunday morning?

I think 9.30/10.00 seems to be acceptable by the majority??

9 is courteous
10 is kind
8 is merciless
7 is the devil

Agree with this but don’t think anywhere in the uk is particularly hot tomorrow and I’m in one of the warmer areas. You might not be UK though.

ruethewhirl · 30/05/2026 19:19

9’s pretty standard imo, and I’m speaking as someone with a sleep disorder.

Will be interesting to see how long before the ‘Oh, but surely most people are up by 6?’ brigade rocks up, though…

DamsonBramble · 30/05/2026 19:19

I usually do it in the evening to avoid heat and not wake people up who want a weekend lie in

bolognazey · 30/05/2026 19:22

On a Sunday .. 10am.

Bjorkdidit · 30/05/2026 19:25

Won't it be wet in the morning? So will be all cloggy.

But I can't believe people do no mow May. Ours would be knee high and impossible to cut with a domestic mower if left that long at this time of year.

youalright · 30/05/2026 19:27

So what time is acceptable in the evening to cut grass until i think 7.30pm

Lulu1919 · 30/05/2026 19:29

9 at the earliest -or leave it till 5 pm

GreatThingsAwait · 30/05/2026 19:33

I’d say 10 on a normal Sunday but if it’s still going to be sweltering tomorrow then I think a little earlier is ok

10am.

My horrible neighbour was chainsawing at 8.15 am this morning.

Mine loves shouting into his phone while on his driveway, and then pressure washing - every weekend - from 7:30. 😤

Angelou79 · 30/05/2026 19:38

10am!

BelleEpoque27 · 30/05/2026 19:42

9am is fine. People can't really expect silence at the weekend in normal waking hours - you might annoy someone but there will always be someone trying to nap/shift workers.

My neighbour used to have a radar for when I was trying to get my son down for his afternoon nap as a toddler. I couldn't possibly say anything, but I did rage internally!

Hedjwitch · 30/05/2026 19:43

10 at the weekend
