If you are Reform are you ok with this repulsive man potentially becoming an MP and representing women in parliament?

Robert Kenyon, the “cheeky local chappie” who is standing for Reform in Makerfield is on record as making some shockingly sexist comments and statements. Reform are standing by him.

Can I ask the women on here who are Reform voters if they are ok with the him remaining a candidate given what I cite below. Btw I am absolutely not, but I’m not and never will be a Reform voter for a variety of reasons.

  1. Retweeting a post about performing a (graphic description) of a sexual act on Carol Voderman.
  2. He has attacked women as being promiscuous and accused them of taking any decision to have an abortion lightly. He wrote, “reproductive rights, women's rights, they can dress it up all they want.
  3. They're deciding to kill a baby inside the womb. What they mean is they want to shag anyone they want. And if they get caught, they get a second chance and treat it as a secondary, last form of contraception.”

Either you think this is ok (don’t understand how anyone let alone a woman could be ok with it) or presumably you’ll be contacting Tice and Farage etc to drop him.

Interested in your thoughts.

He’s awful .. and Farage et al are awful for defending him. This excuse that he’s just an “ordinary northern bloke” spitting out the views of “ordinary northern blokes” is grossly offensive. As a working class northern, from a working class areas, with lots of middle-aged, white, male friends, not one of them has such opinions.

As for “it was before he was in politics” .. what does that matter? Do Reform like a liar as politician (they are his views, he just can’t say them now he’s a politician), it doesn’t matter.

As for those who defend him because “other people are just as bad” .. it’s just pathetic, it’s not a race to the bottom.

He's vile.

If I was in Makerfield I'd be voting for Andy Burnham - who will make a fantastic prime minister.

Why will Andy Burnham be any better than Keir Starmer? What will he bring to government that Keir doesn’t? I don’t understand the msm flurry around him.

And you've ignored the rest. OK. Up to you.
And no, he doesn't want it brought down to 22 weeks as far as I know.

Which bit have I ignored? I think you have probably misrepresented what he said. I certainly recall he mentioned 22 weeks in one interview.

What no copy and paste, Clav? Standards are slipping. 😉

I think you best go google, then see it's you who has 'misrepresented'. He did indeed mention 22 weeks, but not about wanting to bring the cut off date to 22 weeks though as far as I understood.

I think you need to quote - it's your claim.

You should see what some of the green candidates say

Oh well, if they all do it, that’s fine then.

TheGreatDownandOut · 27/05/2026 20:02

I think (hope) that lowering legal abortion to 22 weeks would be woefully unpopular in this country. I’m sure I saw someone mentioning a national survey whereby most think it’s about right as it is

There was the Trigger Me Timbers WhatsApp group in the Denton/Tameside area - made up of Labour MPs, councillors and activists;

Complaints were made claiming the messages included racism, anti-Semitism, sexism, hate speech and even death threats towards constituents.

Easier than admitting that you agree with his views.

Your claim - 'Farage himself is against later abortion, no matter the risk to mothers'.

Where does he say that a mother at risk cannot have a late abortion? Unless you are suggesting that all women should grow their babies in a laboratory rather than in the womb?

SusanChurchouse · 27/05/2026 20:26

Oh yes they know what a woman is. Someone to look after children/make the tea/wipe people’s arses while the big important men do the big important things.

Reform are just golf club bores led by a grifter out to get as much money, connections and status as he can.

This “At least he knows what a woman is,” phrase can get in the bin. It’s been coopted in the most cynical way by people who don’t give a flying fuck about women’s safe spaces or their rights.

In the space of 18 months it’s morphed from being a genuine statement of gender critical philosophy to being a dog whistle rallying cry for the sort of people who want to go back to the days when men were allowed to beat their wives.

I'd like to be a fly on the wall during their vetting process. To paraphrase Fr Ted :

Digging the dirt isnt going to work. I dont even live in Makerfield and haven't even heard of it till now. So I'm not bothered about what he's done or hasn't done before he's even elected. But the likes of Angela Rayner dodging tax now that does bother me.

Just to be clear, you are aware that this man thinks, among other things, that women who have abortions are slags, women can’t drive and he said that the man who posted that he wanted to lick and sniff Carole Vordeman’s arsehole was “only saying what everyone else was thinking”?

ForWittyTealOP · 27/05/2026 21:09

I understood he would like to bring the cut-off date down to 22 weeks for normal pregnancies - I think I agree with him. Most of Europe have cut-off dates as low as 12 or 14 weeks.

And, trying to point score is your only concern?

No, the Telegraph ran an article yesterday warning us of Andy Burnham's 'true radical Left-wing views'.

Not accurate. Most European countries still allow abortion for medical.reasons over 12-14 weeks. Most abortions for non medical reasons in the UK take place before 12 weeks.

Of course those comments are disgusting and he should apologise.

Wes Streeting tweeted a disgusting comment about a journalist before he was an MP and all seems to be forgiven after he apologised so I assume that the same would be for Robert Kenyon.

I referred to 'normal pregnancies' in my post - implying that most European countries have 12-14 weeks as the cut-off for elective abortions for non-medical reasons.

What does the law say though?

You would vote for him?

Not according to the Guardian;
