If you are Reform are you ok with this repulsive man potentially becoming an MP and representing women in parliament?

Robert Kenyon, the “cheeky local chappie” who is standing for Reform in Makerfield is on record as making some shockingly sexist comments and statements. Reform are standing by him.

Can I ask the women on here who are Reform voters if they are ok with the him remaining a candidate given what I cite below. Btw I am absolutely not, but I’m not and never will be a Reform voter for a variety of reasons.

  1. Retweeting a post about performing a (graphic description) of a sexual act on Carol Voderman.
  2. He has attacked women as being promiscuous and accused them of taking any decision to have an abortion lightly. He wrote, “reproductive rights, women's rights, they can dress it up all they want.
  3. They're deciding to kill a baby inside the womb. What they mean is they want to shag anyone they want. And if they get caught, they get a second chance and treat it as a secondary, last form of contraception.”

Either you think this is ok (don’t understand how anyone let alone a woman could be ok with it) or presumably you’ll be contacting Tice and Farage etc to drop him.

Interested in your thoughts.

Is there such a thing as a credible Reform candidate? And with 2 weeks until the by election is getting another candidate a feasible option? I absolutely agree with you that Kenyon is awful.

Burnham has said he may call a general election as thinks he can get a bigger mandate than Starmer. Are you absolutely sure that if he did, Labour would get back in?

I’d say no to both! I hold no truck with Reform at all. And personally I doubt anyone who stood for them would imho be a credible person. And if Burnham calls an early election I think he’d find himself losing badly… at best it would be a May situation where he massively reduced the majority.

It's worth looking up that councillor too . She has quite a long history of campaigning about various things. A lot of it centred on her own devout Christianity.

She is a rabid racist who supposedly devout Catholic beliefs go against every last bit of hate she spews about people who aren't the same colour as her. She was previously employed by Wigan Council until she was sacked for her behaviour. Becoming a local councillor was only her petty attempt to get back at them.

Piggywaspushed · 01/06/2026 06:54

Yes, I was trying to be 'neutral' ... she is indeed those things.

Yet again, the property initially lied about by Kenyon was taken over, repaired and opened as a community hub with food back and a small prayer room. It is open to all faiths.
I know there is a food bank there, along with several others in the town run by various community groups. I have no idea of ANY of the opening times or days, or how you get to use them as I have been fortunate to never have to need one.
And again, what is your issue with this derelict building being taken over and used for good? Does it matter to you so much what faith these people are?

Yet again (to use your phrase), the building is a mosque, as per their own website;
https://www.wiganrashidamasjid.co.uk/about

Advertising Standards or Trading Standards may be interested if the building is not actually a mosque. The owners have obviously received large donations for a mosque - in one campaign video they claim the new mosque will accommodate up to 1,000 worshippers. They are also offering services which will no doubt require a fee; Nikah Ceremony - Arrange an Islamic marriage ceremony at the mosque.

What do you mean Kenyon 'initially lied' - it is not obvious to me that he has lied.

I know there is a food bank there

How do you know?

And again, what is your issue with this derelict building being taken over and used for good?
It is open to all faiths

If I had one criticism it would be the Youth Programs - which do not sound very inclusive and open to all faiths;

Youth Programs
Engaging activities, mentorship, sports events, and educational programs designed specifically for young Muslims.

Does it matter to you so much what faith these people are?

I could ask you the same question - why are you so desperate for this building not to be a mosque?

Duvetdayneeded · 01/06/2026 18:17

Could we build Christian churches in Islamic countries do you think?

Piggywaspushed · 01/06/2026 18:19

There are several in Palestine and many in Turkey.

Anyway, we are a muti cultural multi faith society which already has many churches, mosques, synagogues, temples, gurdwaras so I am not clear on your point.

Could we fuck.

I had Christian friends in Saudi who used to worship secretly in a private house until someone tipped off the religious police who beat the shit out of them all.

this is not a fluffy gentle love everyone faith. Don’t make that ignorant mistake. The punishment for leaving it is death. Hence the terrified silence around it. Among other reasons.

Well someone went and stuck a cathedral in the middle of Rabat in 1930, and no one seems to have told them to take it down yet.

True. But it’s mainly for foreign Christians allowed to use it and the Moroccan government forbids conversion from Islam to Christianity so it’s not quite the freewheeling reciprocal arrangement its presence implies.

Nor may Christians there have civil marriages, funerals or build new churches.

Piggywaspushed · 01/06/2026 19:18

I don't see the relevance to this thread really.

Clearly some angry nutcases though. AI is suggesting the foiled terrorist attack against an unnamed religious site in Rabat in the first link is a cathedral, although I cannot verify (2025). The second link refers to an attack on a church adjoining a cathedral in Cairo (2016). The third link refers to attacks on churches across Egypt on Palm Sunday(2017):

I can't find any suggestion it was the cathedral either. The references are all to 'a religious site'. The person arrested had links to ISIS and tafkir ideology, which is more suggestive that a mosque would have been their target.
As you say though, angry nutcase. So not really pertinent to whether or not Christian buildings are lawfully permitted in a Muslim country.

I don't think that's fair - I had at least three or four posters directing multiple posts to me denying the building in Kenyon's video was a mosque or had ever been a church.

He's saying in a post on X that the former St Mary's Church is now a Mosque.
It is not, it's a food bank with a Muslim prayer room.

You replied and ran with it trying to proof that Kenyon wasn't lying or implying something that was not true.

Why?

It's a food bank with a prayer room.

Strangely, they forgot to mention their main purpose as a food bank in About Us on their website;

Wigan Rashida Masjid aims to be a cornerstone of the Muslim community in Wigan. Our mosque serves as a place of worship, education, spiritual development, and community gathering for people from all backgrounds.

Perhaps Advertising Standards will be interested in why they put out a promotional video asking for donations for a mosque - accommodating up to 1,000 worshippers and asking for £200,000.
