To ask for suncream recommendations because I am sick to death of covering every inch of my body?

I am 99% sure my mother has lied to me about my father and she actually procreated with Casper the friendly Ghost.

I am so pale that I am translucent in places. I turn pink within seconds in the sun. Yesterday I was out for probably a grand total of an hour in a vest and im still pink. I used SPF50.

Ironically I love the sun and I am a heat seeker. I cannot stand wearing long trousers and tops all day, especially when I’m active in the sun. Ideally it’ll be a mist that I can spray over my shoulders while out and about to keep coverage up, but I think at this point I need an industrial strength one. Any recommendations?!

Outdoor shops will have moisture wicking fabrics for their active wear. I wear it all the time when hiking. And cooling UV sleeves. These are cooling items that will allow you to cover up at the times you don't mind that. You can get some nice co-ordinated sporty looking outfits in these places but functionality is more important.

I’m sorry but I’m not going on holiday to Nice and Monaco and wearing activewear everyday

As you're so pale and burn easily, I don't understand why you're so determined to expose your back to the burning sun.

Because I want to look nice? I want to wear nice clothing not frumpy long tops

Activewear doesn’t have to be leggings and such. Loads of people wear Halara dresses (some with built in shorts) to Florida. They are still strappy and backless but it’s the material that is important as it genuinely does keep you cooler.

These but you can get cheaper knock off ones too:

Or with shoulders covered:

Do you really think people who live in Brisbane, Madrid, Rome and Rio de Janeiro “don’t look nice” in hot weather?

It is entirely possible to look nice (and in no way frumpy) without going half naked.

When you get to the Cote d'Azur, I can guarantee you that you will be THAT tourist going around in skimpy clothing in intense heat. The rest of the local population will be so stylish in their long cool dresses, long loose light fabric trousers, covered arms (light cover up or shirt), designer sunnies and massive gorgeous hats. They know how to do it! Exposed skin is a no no except on the beach. Trust me.

You do not have to wear industrial type wicking clothing to look "nice".

But look, it's your choice. Find a sunscreen that works and have a great time.

Your burnt back will not look nice I can assure you.

I use calypso once a day after morning shower, slather it on liberally and let it dry in and wait about 10/15 mins before getting dressed.
I top up during the day with a spray dry oil. Im
lucky that I can contort myself to get the majority of my back myself but I’ve never burnt any but that I might’ve missed.
I do wear strappy vest tops and shorts when I’m out and about and nip into a toilet to reapply so no one has to witness the performance of me trying to get to the middle of my back

In Nice and Monaco nobody local will be walking around in spaghetti strap tops which are hard to apply suncream. Keep strapless or thin for days when you’re not outside 9hrs in 35+ heat. Wear those in evening

Nohody is saying whip out the ski thermals head to toe and boil. But look online as summer clothing for Southern France, and you will see almost everyone will be covering back, shoulders and top of legs if possible to reduce how much skin is exposed.

if you find it hard to reach back or shoulders then wear a top that covers at least those, ideally like a nice blouse that covers more to elbow. And then you can for skirt or shorts if you can put sun cream on legs easier.

I went to the Cote d’Azure a couple of years ago and was like a fucking furnace the whole time.

Neither will athletic clothes on the streets of Monaco!

I lived in a country 35+ degrees. Noone wanders round in backless strappy tops in the heat of the sun. If you are as pale as you say you are and burn so easily its just absolute madness. You can get cool tops and short dresses that cover your back and shoulders.

P20 is the best sunscreen. You can get factor 50 l, its sweat and waterproof and you dont need to reapply through the day.

Mad dogs and Englishmen...

You are not listening at all. I think Benidorm might suit you better TBH. You won't stick out like a sore thumb there in the heat with your minimal clothing.

Hot long sleeved tops and ankle length skirts/trousers will absolutely be hotter than minimal clothing with a breeze

We're not talking woolly jumpers, here. I have a light cotton long-sleeved top that I have had for years and love. It's not huge and shapeless and it absolutely IS cooler than a strappy top.

I know this because with me it's not so much burning, I can't do heat. Not sure how many people need to tell you it's cooler to wear loose fitting long sleeves before you'll believe us.

I get that you don't want to cover up your body after amazing weight loss, be we aren't suggesting you go out in a Burqua, you know.

How about a light unbuttoned shirt? You'd still be showing off your figure, get some breeze blowing through, but your shoulders would be covered.
I've done that before when wearing a top with a nice design I wanted to show.

KatiePricesKnickers · Yesterday 18:37

In all honesty, legs out is one thing, but bare head, shoulders and arms is nearly impossible there, the sun burns into you.
I couldn’t even wear sandles during the day, it was more comfortable in trainers.

Pinkflamingo10 · Yesterday 18:43

I’m from a long line of gingers.
I love la Roche Possay 50 and Eucerin 50 cream.
i also wear light linen to cover chest shoulders and back when I can. Rash vest in the water. Wide brimmed sunhat where possible.
uv umbrella /parasol

I just think it’ll be too hot for that, plus it’s then an extra thing to pack

As people keep telling you, it's hotter to have the sun directly on your body. Honestly, we aren't making this up because we want you to be uncomfortable.

I know it sounds counterintuitive, but it is true. Ask the question in Google, it comes up with multiple sites including Gov.UK telling you that.
