To ask for suncream recommendations because I am sick to death of covering every inch of my body?

I am 99% sure my mother has lied to me about my father and she actually procreated with Casper the friendly Ghost.

I am so pale that I am translucent in places. I turn pink within seconds in the sun. Yesterday I was out for probably a grand total of an hour in a vest and im still pink. I used SPF50.

Ironically I love the sun and I am a heat seeker. I cannot stand wearing long trousers and tops all day, especially when I’m active in the sun. Ideally it’ll be a mist that I can spray over my shoulders while out and about to keep coverage up, but I think at this point I need an industrial strength one. Any recommendations?!

I’m afraid it’s shade and long clothes at that point OP… but you can be lovely and warm in the shade too…!

I can’t function in hot weather while being covered to every inch. As I explained.

What are you using at the moment?

I reckon you need a mineral sunscreen, but be warned, they make you look even paler!

Anononony · Yesterday 12:17

Have you tried putting it on 30-60 minutes before you go out and topping up just before you leave the house?

DS uses a zinc sunblock when he does watersports. That shit barely even comes off in the shower. You wouldn't want to cover yourself in it but good for particularly vulnerable areas, face, shoulders etc. or for areas that got a bit pink the previous day.

Surf Balm, made in Cornwall, smells like coconut 🤤

I’m very fair skinned. I walked round the Chelsea flower show last Friday in full sun most of the day, it was boiling. I covered my arms and neck area in Ambre Solaire spf 50 at 8am and forgot to do a top up til about 3. Anyway I’ve not even gone red, it was really good.
Also I put Cerave face spf 50 on. I wear it everyday and again it kept me pale, so I’d recommend both those.

Agree a mineral sunscreen if you don't want to cover up. It's a physical sunblock as well as a chemical one.

You can get them in all sorts of colours, day glow green is popular with my DC.

I used the isoskin halo

Yes it is. I need to be able to apply to my back while alone.

Oh yeah, I’ll walk around on holiday bright green!

I find malibu dry oil spray really good. It only goes up to spf 30 but I burn less with that than I do the spf 50 creams. It's not greasy either.

Hello fellow vampire!

I cover up, but use this https://www.superdrug.com/skin/sun-care/sun-protection-sprays/ambre-solaire-super-uv-spf50-over-makeup-face-mist-75ml/p/847978?gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=21718485800&gbraid=0AAAAADp4mz_V-_Lb6jT8NimMGbP8yTWt9&gclid=EAIaIQobChMItZHdh-3WlAMVzaJQBh1ZgRwdEAQYASABEgL_b_D_BwE in the areas that are uncovered like my face neck and ears, and it’s not sticky - and as yet I’ve not been burnt!

P50. Or Soltan Once. Its an operation as you have to put it on and let it dry for 30 minutes at least. And if you are really pale remember that the number is a multipler of how long before you burn. I burn in 1 min (redhead!) So factor 50 buys me less than an hour of sun exposure.
Get some good SPF shorts, tshirt and a hat and you'll be fine.

I don't think that any sunscreen works for pale people. It's just a cream. I'm pale. I avoid the sun at the hottest part of the day. If I have to go out I wear long sleeves and a cap

This works so well on my face! I think the issue with my upper arms/shoulders is that I rarely expose them so they struggle when they are exposed! Same with my thighs

The Altruist. Created by dermatologists, not nasty. They have a spray 50 SPF which is really good.

I’d recommend Lancaster, they have some several different options and it’s the only thing that works for us

My skin tone is know as "Victorian child struck by Cholera unlikely to make it through the winter" shade of pale!
We like to holiday in very hot climates and I've been using Piz Buin Allergy for years. It's so effective for me that unfortunately I come home the same shade as when I went. I believe they have spray or lotion.

Oh I’ll take a look!! I’ll be fake tanning before I go away as I know I just won’t tan, but I’d like to avoid the discomfort of burning

I have a photosensitive condition (Lupus Timidus) so I have to avoid sun exposure as much as humanly possible - but I live in Spain so pretty difficult to do. My dermatologist recommended these 2 products and they have been a life saver. They are easy to use and I can apply easily to my back because they are sprays. Maybe, since you are so sun sensitive, they will help you.

I second this. It’s excellent. Google Altruist BBC and you can listen to a Radio 4 programme about it. I’m very pale and it works.
