British behaviour in holiday hotel

We are staying at a good all inclusive resort (yes, I know all inclusive is not high end, but this is about as good a one as you can get). I am just shocked and ashamed at fellow british people at breakfast time. Letting their kids make a huge mess by allowing them to get their own food. Huge amounts of wasted food. Multiple untouched plates left on tables. Total disregard for others barging round, blocking walkways etc. When did this become ok?? AIBU with expectations? Bear in mind this is not a cheap rubbish tui-blue type place. I dread to think what they are like!

We went to a Tui Blue last year. The hotel & grounds were immaculate, the food was amazing and there was none of this behaviour. The clientele was mostly German. It's the only one we've been to so I can't compare to others.

@StephensLass1977 but that is a different set of circumstances. A hotel, that is supposed to be a decent one, would threaten to evict them. The OP puts down TUI, TUI has no messing about, you are out.

Same. I would prefer a week in a caravan in the rain than an AI. If that makes me a snob, I’m fine with this.

If I have been skiing I would know full well I'm talking bollock (singular)? If I have gone on a holiday with proportionally far less Brits than the other nationalities you mentioned?

I haven't been skiing due to an old injury.

How do you know you didn't stick out with your Danish relatives? Why do you think it matters? The OP was referring to general behaviour.

I will not even entertain a hotel that has an AI option as a consequence of having two ruined by Brits Abroad.

So so true. Both nationalities with such a high proportion of tourists seemingly oblivious to how obnoxious they are.

The lack of Brits skiing is the whole point that believe me, certain nationalities dominated the demographic of skiers and they were obnoxious, entitled and rude but I don't think all people from those countries are obnoxious and rude as I'm not a massive xenophobe!

How do I know I'm not a despised Brit- what an odd question. I know I have self control, am quiet but also I am not a prejudice person and don't see borders so I don't come across as obnoxious. Where are you from that is so cold to your fellow human. That has ingrained your prejudices?

Where are you from that makes you think all people hate the English or tjat they are culturally the same as Americans? Honestly, I haven't found that at all in Northern Europe

Lol you are very naive. Do a quick Google search on British tourists and American tourists. There are loads of posts on travel forums about British tourists and American tourists being loud and obnoxious

Where are you from as honestly your whole prejudice vibes towards the Brits or English are just not as widely felt a you feel. Some people manage to have enough critical awareness about themselves and their certainties that they realise that are often wrong or deluded.

You advised me to read all evidence online to prove that Brits along with Americans are culturally the same 😐 and that they were hated by the whole world. IME which sounds I haven't found that to be the case both due to having family not from here, from my own holidays and working with many Europeans and further afield. I don't believe everything I read on the internet though.

But it's not true it's just devisive rubbish that I don't think is a good thing, why do you think it is good to be devisive and prejudice?

What we HAVE done is talk about our own experiences of travelling.

This depends on what annoys you most I think. If you can’t stand people overloading plates, kids poking at food and replacing it, avoid the buffet! I don’t like listening to kids (and their parents) shouting at each other all day (and do l notice this more in British and Americans as it’s harder to tune out) so I choose adult only holidays. If you think “Brits Abroad” is a nightmare choose a hotel that has mainly German reviews on Tripadvisor. If you can’t tolerate any annoying people get a remote AirBnB. Holidays cost a fortune so why choose something without checking if it’s to your taste? Some people on this thread are taking this very personally tho

Op is British and she is complaining about the behaviour of the fellow British tourists on he holiday. Can she not do that?

It depends if you believe everything you read on the internet..like I stated- I don't. And I try to take people as I find them not fall for devisive propaganda and worse spread it around.

Maybe the brits abroad could also improve their behaviour?
