DH commenting on my daily jam

I have two slices of toast with jam on every day..DH has commented that I’ll be knackering my teeth if I keep this up in the long term.

Mumsnetters, am I the only one to do this!?

Edited to add my DH is a good man and only looking out for me; before anyone suggests I line my quackers up!

Are gooseberry and blackcurrant jams still fashionable? I love both !

Yes! It's my favourite too. My grandma recently went to Tiptree Fruit Farms on a tour there with my aunty. They make tipton jams there and at the end you can buy so many flavours. She bought 3 blackcurrant ones back for me. She grows a damson tree in her garden and makes her own damson jam. That is heaven on home baked bread. Oooo what a craving i've given myself now....

Your DH may be a good man, but he's also a total weirdo! Jam is a wonderful thing and should be consumed as often as possible in massive quantities.

I want goosegog jam now.

If you come to France on holiday, don't go for Bonne Maman, get Léonce Blanc 70% jam instead. It's incredible.

I'm being a pedant now but you're supposed to brush your teeth before breakfast as food alters the pH in your mouth making your teeth more susceptible to damage if you brush after eating.

Not if you leave it 45 minutes apparently.

Megan? Is that you?

💀 (😂😂😂)

Don't think he's at all concerned about your teeth to be honest. He's just one of those controlling men who doesn't want a fat wife.

Everyone knows that cavities are caused by bacteria and these don't multiply within minutes. If you brush your teeth 2x a day you remove the bacteria and can eat whatever you like.

Yes, you're right you're supposed to leave it half an hour before and half an hour after you've eaten before you consider re-brushing your teeth so not to damage your teeth.

Do people usually brush their teeth after eating though? I just brush mine morning and night, and spend the rest of the day eating biscuits at my leisure.

I've just finished a jar of gooseberry jam from Leith farmers market. Bloody gorgeous. Moving on to bilberry.

I’m a jam connoisseur and you’ve got me salivating at the thought of bilberry jam… 🤤

Usual anti man bollocks. Go and spoil another thread.

This thread is MN at its best 😂😂😂😂😂.

Still crying at “Alpen”

Pedallleur · Yesterday 08:20

Spreading the humour thin now. I can't believe it's not better.

That Meghan’s got an H in it.

I beg your pardon? We’ll have none of that here, this is a family friendly thread. 🫣

Fraughtmum · Yesterday 08:22

As well as gooseberry and bilberry, I have greengage jam. Also nice in rice pudding

justasking111 · Yesterday 08:23

We've made crabapple jam. That's nice. OH and years ago quince.

I rotate my breakfast toast spread. Rose's lemon and lime marmalade, mandarin marmalade and strawberry jam at the moment. I do brush my teeth afterwards. No dental treatment needed for years.

Enjoy.

PS I want blackcurrant jam now 😁

M&S do a good blackcurrant jam. I’m a Rose’s lemon&lime marmalade fan too and alternate my jam with that, honey or marmite. No DH to comment, oh joy!

AnchorWHAT · Yesterday 08:27

Buy the sugar free ones and then he's not got anything to pick at.

Mamansparkles · Yesterday 08:30

Reading this with my breakfast (sourdough toast, real butter and homemade blackcurrant jam) and crying with laughter. DH asked what the fuss was. Thankfully he is also partaking of the blackcurrant jam.
Thanks everyone for brightening up my morning!

Turnitoffnonagain · Yesterday 08:31

Enjoy your jam, OP.
Don't let him dictate what you can eat.
It's a slippery slope.

(There is no finer breakfast spread than Tiptree Tawny marmalade).

Katemax82 · Yesterday 08:34

Tell him to piss up a rope. My husband went through phases of having 4 slices of toast and marmalade every morning. Did I comment?? No I bought extra marmalade

This made me lol 😂

billycat321 · Yesterday 08:46

Had jam or marmalade on toast for breakfast for years
Just made enough of both to last me a year
Damsons, gooseberries, blackcurrants and more from my own garden
Love experimenting with different flavours, kiwi fruit and apple, mango and pineapple.
As for damaging my teeth, still got all my gnashers at 84!
