DH commenting on my daily jam

Hanjusy · 25/05/2026 22:20

I have two slices of toast with jam on every day..DH has commented that I’ll be knackering my teeth if I keep this up in the long term.

Mumsnetters, am I the only one to do this!?

Edited to add my DH is a good man and only looking out for me; before anyone suggests I line my quackers up!

I thought this was a traffic thread.

I hoped it was about music.

I read the title in my head in Lucinda Light’s voice

Me too!
Love this thread

@Hanjusy totally nicking "line my quackers up"

Our husband, who art in Judgement

GloomyWednesday · 25/05/2026 23:39

You absolute twats. I’ve already cleaned my teeth and switched downstairs off but I really want some toast and marmalade/jam.

I’m (black)currently stood scarecrow like, waiting for my fake tan to dry in a kind of crucifixion pose so will have to embrace the prayer of breakfast martyrs instead.

Fillybuster · 25/05/2026 23:39

Totally lost it at “pump up the jam”

Give us this day our daily bread, and jam….and preserve us…

TheRealMagic · 25/05/2026 22:24

Totally thought he was criticising you having a little dance and boogie each day, so came on to angrily say he was a total twat. Less outraged now I know it's the food, but still think he should let you be.

I thought this too. I often have a little dance round the kitchen, even get the dog to join in!

Jam situation, as long as you are cleaning your teeth twice a day a little jam won't hurt. Enjoy your sweet treat.

Yes. Let's get into the jam nitty gritty.

Is her jam hot?

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 25/05/2026 23:47

Is your husband J H Kellogg? Does he think that rich, spicy or flavoured foods also stimulate "immoral" urges, like happiness for instance?

Tell him to put down the meusli and go outside to touch some grass.

As we forgive those who breakfast against us

And lead us not into caffeination, but deliver us from stevia….

😂😂😂😂

I would say toast with jam is better than a sugary cereal, because the cereal sticks in the divots in your molars, but jam not so much.

And forgive us our croissants

As we forgive those who criticise our eating them with jam.

Flomingho · Yesterday 03:30

No harm in it. I have marmalade on my toast in the morning. As long as the other things you have throughout the day are balanced and you look after your teeth, it's all fine.

Bikergran · Yesterday 04:54

@Hanjusy do you thoroughly clean your teeth AFTER your breakfast? If you don't, you should, or he'll be right.

I'm being a pedant now but you're supposed to brush your teeth before breakfast as food alters the pH in your mouth making your teeth more susceptible to damage if you brush after eating.

Fraughtmum · Yesterday 06:29

I've just finished a jar of gooseberry jam from Leith farmers market. Bloody gorgeous. Moving on to bilberry.

AmazingGreatAunt · Yesterday 06:50

As long as your bread and jam are home-made and you are using real butter, I see nothing wrong with that. It is what my OH would eat as he maintains that breakfast must be sweet.

I’m so impressed with PP for the prayer thread.

Are gooseberry and blackcurrant jams still fashionable? I love both !

Fashionable? Gawd! I hadn’t realised the fashion police had started dictating our jam choices.
this is concerning. Is apricot still “cool”?
