AIBU to think Mumsnetters are miserable?

Mumsnetters are miserable aren't they?

Anytime anybody shows any sign they are doing well for themselves, they are pounced upon?

Ask for a luxury hotel recommendation and you are insensitive in a COL.

Ask for ideas for a new wardrobe and you hate the planet whilst at the same time support child slavery.

Ask for ideas on a holiday home and you are scum of the earth who are stopping locals buying.

These are real life examples I have seen this week.

They aren't this miserable in real life are they?

There are people here who like to put others down and be mean just for the sake of it. They would never dare say these things in real life.

Totally agree.

It's all the massive salads they eat, it's hard to keep smiling when you have constant diarrhoea.

I agree OP. I’m so so careful in any replies I post now because if someone can take it the wrong way then they will. It does put me off mumsnet & I’ve often thought about closing my account.
My favourite thread is always the premium bonds one - people are genuinely pleased when others win prizes & it tends to be a lovely, happy thread.

I tried to post something positive yesterday, and got absolutely mauled!

I only get my laughs from re-runs of You've Been Framed these days.

There are full episodes of Beadles About on youtube to enjoy too!

The roof tile one is great.

I would say I watch Only Fools And Horses to cheer myself up, but I remember a thread on here from last year where a poster said they found Del Boy's abuse of Rodney upsetting.

@ErlingHaalandsManBun

Agreed. It must be absolutely exhausting to live in such a state of vitriol about everything.

Made me laugh this morning that even on the RATW telly thread which is usually pretty good natured, there were wails of "but it's not faaaaiiiirr" about the team that (very sensibly) discarded their backpacks for the final push to the finish line. The fact that the other teams chose to run uphill in deep snow whilst still carrying theirs is nothing to do with fairness - just basic common sense.

VickyEadie · 22/05/2026 15:14

didntlikeanyofthesuggestions · 22/05/2026 14:56

You are correct. I haven't smiled in three years except when I saw a child fall into a stream.

🤣

It absolutely IS common sense though and they are not the only ones who have done that. I think they do it most years. Why the fuck would you run with your backpack on. Shedding it and legging it is obviously the best course of action when racing 😂Wonder if those people complaining contacted OFCOM 🤔😆

To be fair, it was justified.

It really wasn't, hence why much of their abuse has been deleted!

It's definitely happened in previous series'. I don't think I can have been the only one shouting "drop your bloody backpacks" at everyone at the bottom of that hill.

Nightlifes · 22/05/2026 15:21

I would be miserable if I had kids or man in my life, thats just living hell tbh.

YourShyLion · 22/05/2026 15:23

SomedayIllBeSaturdayNight · 22/05/2026 15:06

I agree. Particularly with reference to the second homes thread.

Oh for goodness sake, get a grip, a life and leave her alone 🙄 🥱

ErlingHaalandsManBun · 22/05/2026 15:04

Mumsnet is full of negativity, judgement, people who complain, take offence at the slightest of things and take life WAY too seriously.

That's why I come on here. There is always an entertaining thread or two to brighten my day 😂😁

Yep- THIS. I see so many superior attitudes and people scolding others for doing xyz (perfectly normal things that most people do).

You arent fooling anyone - we know you aren't perfect so why pretend you are- it makes me chuckle. Also, it makes me so grateful for my lovely normal real life friends who arent total dicks

But it's like if you say "that's a nice dress" the answer will be "oh it's old / its got pockets / only primark" it's just being a bit British.

PMSL 😀

I think you're right to a certain extent, OP. I will say that I have been guilty of 'pulling' a poster up about something that may seem trivial to others. I'd do it in real life though so it doesn't count.

It is much easier for people to say shitty things when not face to face 🤷‍♀️

So it seems! 😄

It's certainly rattled a few cages that's for sure, there's even been a whole other thread created on the back of the one before which is bonkers.

Not to worry, you enjoy your new place, If you ever want to adopt an adult with a husband and three children, give me a shout and I'll pack my case 😂

FeliciaFancybottom · 22/05/2026 15:30

Is this you being a little ray of sunshine?

Sorry I am going to rephrase my answer.
Yes you can make it last, but it wont be a lot of fun.
Sympathies OP

Yes! God forbid you actually enjoy celebrating your upcoming wedding or friends wedding, even worse if you're celebrating a pregnancy or a birthday over the age of about 5.
Post an average looking dress in style and beauty and it will be ripped to shreds while posters helpfully offer up horrible looking high fashion that looks like your grannies curtains!

So because I don't think there is any need for someone to own more than one home I need to get a life?
Why? Because my opinion is different from yours?
