AIBU to think Mumsnetters are miserable?

Mumsnetters are miserable aren't they?

Anytime anybody shows any sign they are doing well for themselves, they are pounced upon?

Ask for a luxury hotel recommendation and you are insensitive in a COL.

Ask for ideas for a new wardrobe and you hate the planet whilst at the same time support child slavery.

Ask for ideas on a holiday home and you are scum of the earth who are stopping locals buying.

These are real life examples I have seen this week.

They aren't this miserable in real life are they?

I don't know - you're a Mumsnetter, are you miserable?

Those examples have nothing to do with whether Mumsnetters are miserable or not.

AlexaStopAlexaNo · 22/05/2026 14:55

I think a lot of brits are like this in general tbf.

didntlikeanyofthesuggestions · 22/05/2026 14:56

You are correct. I haven't smiled in three years except when I saw a child fall into a stream.

YourShyLion · 22/05/2026 14:56

I agree 100%. It can be only hoped that it's a place where their unpleasantness and jealously is aired and they don't carry it into their every days lives 😄

Reminds me of The Old Gits on Harry Enfield!

That's not true, I laughed at a 3yr old who dropped his ice cream today.

I lived in another country for a while and after about a week I noticed that people didn’t grumble on and on about things.

Cakeandslippers · 22/05/2026 14:58

Yes! I think a lot of the opinions on here are quite skewed to the negative. Not all though - aibu is the worst, some of the other boards are very lovely. I suspect the answers that some people give on here are very different to what they'd say if they were asked the question in person.

SamuraiSally · 22/05/2026 14:59

To be fair, it's not always about being miserable it's about looking outside our own little bubble and thinking about the impact that choices we make have on the world around us.

AlgaeDreams · 22/05/2026 15:00

I only get my laughs from re-runs of You've Been Framed these days.

They can't be this negative in real life, can they?

Imagine going into work on a Monday and Sharon is showing her holidays snaps.

"Sharon you old bint, you are an evil witch who doesn't care about the environment."

im proper jolly me

Sooveritall · 22/05/2026 15:03

The tight friend thread is quite funny 🤣

Bananarep · 22/05/2026 15:03

The MNers I worry about are the ones on multiple threads - all of the time - and on the same topic….

ErlingHaalandsManBun · 22/05/2026 15:04

Mumsnet is full of negativity, judgement, people who complain, take offence at the slightest of things and take life WAY too seriously.

That's why I come on here. There is always an entertaining thread or two to brighten my day 😂😁

That's true, I suppose if everybody was reasonable it would be very dull.
