Booked hairdresser for 2pm for a full head of colour (dark brown/black) and a cut and blow dry. I realised at half 12, she’d emailed me at 11am asking if I could come in any earlier. I emailed back and said earliest I could go in was 1, which she said was fine. I’ve been to her before and she’s always been fine.

Get there and she’s incredibly short with me. Seems pissed off that I didn’t come in earlier and she’s been “waiting around all morning” even though I booked a 2pm appointment. Doesn’t offer a tea or coffee or anything and slaps on the colour. Leaves it for 25 minutes, then starts saying she may not have time now to do a full blow dry as she’s busy but could blast it with the hairdryer. I’m annoyed and sense tension but say fine. She then proceeds as she’s washing it to say actually she may not have time at all, and as I’m only going home after can only towel dry it. We weren’t even at my original appointment time yet.

She then cuts it quickly, just the ends and not my usual layers and when I mention it again she says about time. Things are getting tense and I’m getting tearful. (7 months pregnant too). She then wraps my hair in a paper towel and says that I’m finished and I look at her gone out.

She says sorry needs the chair back for next client. I say fine whatever, get up and leave. Issue is I’ve booked through Fresha and they’ve taken the full amount from my card. I emailed the salon once I’ve got out and processed everything and they’re point blank refusing a refund even though I got barely a cut and absolutely no blow dry.

i won’t be going there again but can/would you request a bank charge back? Paid by debit card and it was £85😭 im so upset, money is tight anyway and this was suppose to be a birthday treat.

I presume this was a hairdresser you had never used before? Sounds like Fresha has over-booked her, which is by no means your fault though. After her slapdash approach though, maybe it's best she didn't cut your hair. How is the colour?

She has used the hairdresser before. It’s there in the first paragraph of her OP

Chocolation · 21/05/2026 18:09

Definitely call trading standards and they’ll advise you the best way to proceed as sounds like abreach of contract. I’ve used them a couple of times and they were great and I got a full refund both times.

If the salon are refusing to issue you with a refund or discuss the issue the yes I absolutely would. However I would first send another email to make sure you have the full matter in writing and see if they will resolve the problem so you have a clear paper trail.

This is excellent advice, and I would also try and chargeback in the meantime. What appalling service.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 21/05/2026 18:11

It looks like you need another cut (layers) and maybe colour redone so I’d factor that cost in.

Stanthedog15 · 21/05/2026 18:13

Advertisement is how a hairdresser gets her Clients. So make sure you rate your visa especially if they have a website. Fb or insta.

Plus tell her via messenger that you are disgusted with the service. The rushing. The treatment.

You are allowed to write about her as long as its honest and truthful.
You can tell as many people as you can. Your not likely to get any money back.
It's horrible how you were treated. As for paying in future. Pay cash. Cash is fantastic as you can pay less explaining why.
Also if you find a great hairdresser. Remember to thank and Tip .
Great hairdressers are very wanted. x

WilCh · 21/05/2026 18:16

Contact your bank & let them know you did not get what you had paid for xx

YourRareMember · 21/05/2026 18:17

100%, I would email them again first and let them know that you are going to request a chargeback and see if they change their mind. Did you take pictures as well for the state she left you in? She sounds absolutely vile.

Pessismistic · 21/05/2026 18:18

Op your hairdresser is out of order tell her you want a refund the the blow dry you never got or you will dispute the full amount with your bank. Tell her you have all the proof you need that everything was changed for her benefit and she had you booked in for 2 so if she was too busy that’s her problem she has probably squeezed in a regular but definitely don’t let it go just because she rents the chair she is still liable for the business she conducts in the salon. Even if you didn’t get the chargeback you will cause her grief and then put a bad review on wherever she posts. Good luck she’s been a total bitch all of her own doing.

Yokodoko · 21/05/2026 18:21

Tidalwaver Definitely, what a feckin bitch! Hope you’re ok, good luck with your third trimester 🌷🌷

Agrumpyknitter · 21/05/2026 18:21

Contact the salon owner again and tell her that if you don’t receive a refund you will stand/sit outside the salon with a placard telling everyone who walks past about the bad service you received.

MMAS · 21/05/2026 18:23

So sorry this has happened to you particularly at this time. Not sure Google is up to date as it does say if you contact your Bank you might be entitled via something called Chargeback on a Debit Card which you could try but I would do that today rather than wait. I would also stop using that salon and service unless it is your only option locally. I wonder if it was colouring your hair whilst pregnant that may have caused the problem i.e. she is inexperienced and it would take longer than normal. If that was the case she should have not accepted the appointment and pointed you towards a more experienced person. Debit Cards do not normally provide the same protection as using a Credit Card would.

StMarie4me · 21/05/2026 18:24

I am so glad, when I read things like this, that I do my own with clippers these days.
Really awful OP. I’d be all over the socials!

FreyaW · 21/05/2026 18:31

Awe..how disappointing for you. 😞
Do escallate it.. you didn't get the service you expected and paid for. Trading standards can help..

StormGazing · 21/05/2026 18:37

I’d do a charge back and write a bad review. I’d leave them half for the colouring, and keep half as you didn’t get the cut and blow

TheSkyRaisin · 21/05/2026 18:39

That’s terrible behaviour from the hairdresser.

I do think you need to contact her directly before doing a chargeback. Give her a chance to rectify the situation, as so far you have only complained to the salon, who don’t employ her. Hopefully she will have reflected on what happened and will give you an apology and refund, but if not, absolutely contact your card company.

Good luck Flowers

weenett · 21/05/2026 18:42

Publicly blast them on fb and what ever review site they use. Utter un acceptable for what you paid and completely unprofessional when you had an actual appointment time booked its not up to you to accommodate them so so unprofessional and id publicly blast them for poor service

Zerosleep · 21/05/2026 18:45

I would email her and ask for a refund. If she doesn’t refund, do a chargeback. That’s disgusting behaviour.

TwinklySquid · 21/05/2026 18:46

I would leave a negative review saying you will be doing a chargeback as you didn’t get what you paid for.
Then do a charge back. People like this don’t deserve to be given the benefit of the doubt here. We all have bad days but we don’t take it out on paying customers.

andnowwhatdowedo · 21/05/2026 18:47

What an unpleasant experience. The stylist was way out of order and many of us, like you, would have been bewildered and not found the words to protest at the time.
However, I doubt if you are going to get your money back. Given that you are pregnant and feeling sensitive, it might be more upsetting to pursue this than let it go. Shit happens sometimes, but you have your baby to look forward to which matters more.
ETA you mention doing a chargeback - great if you can, but I'm not sure you'll be able to.

AgeingGreycefully · 21/05/2026 18:49

Like everyone else responding to this, I’m absolutely appalled. Hairdressers live and die on their reputation and this woman has just lost hers. You just need to leave a bad review wherever possible and definitely pursue the charge back.

Why are you having your hair dyed when you are pregnant?

Are you serious

Casperroonie · 21/05/2026 18:56

Why are you having your hair dyed when you are pregnant?

Because she wants to and it's got nothing to do with you?

ClearFruit · 21/05/2026 18:57

FairKoala · 21/05/2026 17:35

Why are you having your hair dyed when you are pregnant?

Oh shush.

tiptoethrutulips · 21/05/2026 19:01

Formally pursue a refund / 50% refund in writing with the salon. Detail the awful experience that was entirely on the hairdresser. If they refuse, THEN pursue a chargeback. You'll need proof you tried to resolve it.

ThatLemonBee · 21/05/2026 19:06

I wouldn’t even pay her part of the service , she deserves nothing at all imo . The job was not done then she cannot a charge . Do a charge back and find a good one
