Why does David Beckham need to be seen everywhere?

Like the Chelsea flower show, collaborating with Alan Titchmarsh ffs

He's just absolutely and utterly desperate for attention

I dont think he'll care much what you think. I think hes lovely.

All the David Beckham fans are triggered. Why would I care what he thinks of me, strange response.

Why more so than anyone else selling stuff? He’s pretty mild surely putting his face to adidas and lays crisps compared to the business people pushing pay day loans, vapes, alcohol, you tube or apple products, no?

I'm sorry but he may have been a good footballer but his attitude on the football pitch was disgusting.
He is a known cheat and womaniser.
He had a hissy fit when he was passed over on the honours list and so revealed that all his so called charity work was about his social ambitions rather than any good he might do.
And he really really is so love with himself it's a total then off.
And the endless coverage in the media of him and his entitled but boring family would be laughable if wasn't so tedious.

Need I go on? I think you will have realised I can't stand the man. But you are right in that there are lots of obnoxious people who are the face of advertising campaigns. Fortunately I don't know enough about them to be quite as annoyed by them as I am by Beckenham.

Buscobel · Today 12:06

Whether you like him or loathe him, the fact is that he was part of a group that had input into a garden for the Chelsea Flower Show, on behalf of the King’s Foundation. Clearly, the hard work of design and planting was done by Frances Tophill, with input from the others, Alan Titchmarsh in particular. Nevertheless, there was input from King Charles and from David Beckham.

You don’t have to be a fan to see that there was collaboration; the majority of the effort being from the people who are professional horticulturalists.

SpringHasSprungTheGrassIsRiz · Today 12:09

Fully agree that he is gunning for National Treasure status. I'm sure I read somewhere that he basically paid/lobbied for his honour.

Turnitoffnonagain · Today 12:12

He's into gardening and bee keeping apparently, and mates with the King.
I don't mind him. Preferable to the likes of the no talent reality TV lot.

BatchCookBabe · Today 12:12

Ablondiebutagoody · Today 09:36

Stay off social media. I haven't seen him for donkeys years.

Same. I hardly see him really. He (and Victoria) were around WAY more 20-30 years ago. I got sick of seeing them then!

YABU @JacknDiane

Tablesandchairs23 · Today 12:13

Because the Beckham are publicity seeking knobs.

Tollington · Today 12:14

He has to stay in the public eye as he’s now a retired footballer. His sponsors wouldn’t want him if he hid out in the Cotswolds all the time

RaraRachael · Today 12:14

What exactly is "Brand Beckham".
I'm old and from pre influencer days

I don't think he is "mates" with the King, he is involved with the King's trust that is like saying Ant and Dec are mates with the King because they are involved with the King's trust.

HoskinsChoice · Today 12:35

Whataflippincircus · Today 09:34

Yes but why Beckham? What’s he got to do with gardening?

He's actually a very keen gardener. Grows his own veg. He's just getting involved in stuff that interests him whilst promoting a charity. What's wrong with that?

Turnitoffnonagain · Today 12:39

@Lomonald Lighten up. You're not the thread police.

The Beckhams have been around for 30 years 😂

ruffler45 · Today 12:43

Isn't he paid very generoulsly to be an "Ambassador" for a lot of organisations?

Which I think means being in the right place at the right time to have his photograph taken with the right people for the right magazines/paparazzi/web pages.

LeedsLoiner · Today 12:46

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · Today 09:53

And with King Charles, too.
Desperate for attention/adulation, I suppose, but I for one am heartily sick of the sight of him.

But enough about the Royal Family, what about Beckham ?

AiAiAi · Today 12:47

It's Sir David Beckham!

Please try and be courteous and use his proper title.

HRTQueen · Today 12:54

Brand Beckham

He and his family are a commodity that is central to his and Victoria's life

As his son informed us ...

Yes I'm aware of that but how are the Beckhams a brand.
He was a footballer, she was a singer.

CurlewKate · Today 13:06

He’s got plenty of time and LOADS of money- he’s just doing whatever he likes. And why not?

TheTortiePuffinNeedsHerBreakfast · Today 13:07

Loads of celebs were at the Chelsea Flower Show yesterday, most of whom have nothing to do with gardening. 🤷‍♂️

MontyDonsBlueSuit · Today 13:11

I’m sick of seeing his over-botoxed face this week. He doesn’t seem to have had much to do with the garden other than requesting they include a beehive but he gets all the headlines and Frances who is actually talented and worked hard on it gets mentioned last behind him and Titchmarsh (who clearly saw how Beckham’s arse kissing the King worked and is angling for his own knighthood.)

The King’s Foundation seem to invite any old influencer to their events these days, they’re all over Instagram. I’m not sure how that does anything positive or useful but I suppose they’re trying to draw a younger crowd.

Brand Beckham is as old as them.

Kitestring · Today 09:47

He is the biggest pick me. Paid off for him though. Remember when Sophie EB wore a T-shirt with bored of the Beckhams on the front. That was a whole generation away, the ennui must be strong now, plus now we have the whole brood to contend with now. They have more staying power than athletes foot.

🤣

BerryTwister · Today 13:37

I assume he just likes to keep busy. He might be a billionaire, but he's only 51, so not ready to retire yet.

And he'll have been asked to come to all these events. He doesn't just turn up uninvited.

At least DB had an actual talent. Not like the vacuous "influencers" and Reality TV stars who pop up everywhere, despite having no skills beyond liking the sound of their own voices.
