How do you propose billionaires solve Afghanistan?

worriedmumofgirls · 18/05/2026 22:26

Grim, but how is this the problem of billionaires?

Octavia64 · 18/05/2026 22:34

The taliban refuse to co-operate with any un agencies and have banned most charities from operating in the country.

they have also put stringent restrictions on healthcare for women and babies including that women healthcare professsionals are no longer allowed to work at all.

It was clear from the beginning that these restrictions would lead to deaths that were completely preventable however it is taliban policy and they currently run the country.

it’s not got much to do with money.

Donations of food?

The news report was shocking. Men selling their daughters for food or health care. It was awful to watch them cry and beg for help.😥

The report suggests that aid from overseas has been cut to them

Didn't say it did. Sharing it wouldn't kill them. How much does 1 person need.

OP, I am on your side.

Billionaires' wealth is only possible based on the labour of others, which they extract like parasites thru dividends, rent, etc.

I intend to donate and if everyone who had a little extra available could help.

Their stories were pitiful. The talliban should rot in hell, if hell exists.

Tot in hell? Maybe limbo, if Catholic theology is right, and they are unbaptised

Billionaires have vast wealth, its pretty sick the huge amounts they have, whilst people die from hunger.

I've filed this under "things that are indescribably awful but there's fuck all I can do about them".

I keep my world small now for my own sanity.

I've amended it thanks.

The story really moved me, the poor children being sold.

Of course it’s to do with money

Martymcfly24 · 18/05/2026 22:46

Yanbu, no such thing as an ethical billionaire.

The situation is just horrifying and there doesn't seem to be an reprieve in sight

I know - I don’t have children and my heart was breaking - that father with the girl with appendicitis having to sell her future

it sure puts my not so small problems into perspective - we don’t know we are born in the west

HellsBells13 · 18/05/2026 22:47

Why should we in the west fight the Taliban

Purgatory

Why should we in the west fight the Taliban

Because it’s a humanitarian crisis

and we are beneficiaries of the exploitation of developing world

We shouldn't.

Im talking about starving people, not the Taliban

Purgatory

No

Purgatory is a shitty version of heaven for believers who will eventually end up in heaven, who have sinned too much to go there immediately

Limbo is in hell, but it is the nicest part of hell and just a little drab and miserable, not fire and torture, for disbelievers who are disbelievers of no fault of their own. For example, unbaptised babies, uncontacted Amazonian tribes, and non chosen but noble people who died before the incarnation such as Aristotle, Socrates, etc
