Shamelessly posting in aibu, I know I'm not being unreasonable to ask but PLEASE tell me what finally helped you get pregnant?

Ovulation tests. I had been tracking my cycle with different apps but turned out I wasn’t actually ovulating when they were telling me I was.

EffinMagicFairy · 18/05/2026 21:51

Chiropractor, 4 years trying for DC2, pregnant within 6 weeks of chiropractic treatment, apparently my pelvis was out of alignment. Prior to that IVF for DC1 after trying for 6 years.

SparklyGlitterballs · 18/05/2026 21:52

Took years to get pregnant the first time and had an early miscarriage. Had tests and was told it was highly unlikely we'd get pregnant naturally again due to DH awful sperm count and mobility. I went on a diet and lost a stone or so to get healthier. Had IVF which didn't work. Three years had passed by now and I was stressing about affording drugs for another go at IVF when I read that after sex you should put a pillow under your hips to raise them in the air and bring yourself to orgasm. When you orgasm, the head of the cervix dips and thus after sex it will dip into the accumulated sperm. Tried it a few times and it worked for us. DD was 27 this year.

duckingclueless · 18/05/2026 22:01

I had a smear test. I’m sure it opened things up. Worked for someone else after I told them.

Missreginafalange · 18/05/2026 22:01

Hate to be that person and part of the relax brigade, but giving up trying to conceive and considering ourselves lucky with the healthy 2 we had as it was making me more and more desperately sad each month. Chucked all the ovulation sticks away and deleted all the apps, pregnant 2 months later and I was 41

MasterGland · 18/05/2026 22:09

Possibly from taking daily creatine. Which I started taking for perimenopause, not to try to get pregnant. Since found out that there is some research suggesting it may improve egg quality. Or, could just be complete coincidence.

Clomid! He’s 17 now!

I hate hate hate this answer but, having been trying for over two years, went on holiday with the thought that maybe we ought to stop trying and embrace being a family of 3.

came back pregnant.

sorry. The “relax and stop thinking about it” brigade are/were so annoying. We had also made tentative plans for a big holiday the next year. Never happened

had previously spent over a year trying for DC1.

and we skip over the accidental conception of DC3 later

I hope you get where you need to be xxx

Similar story for my pregnancy with DD1 after several very early losses and a couple of ectopics. Had genuinely given up, and day before IVF cycle meant to start, discovered I was pregnant.

SmallandSpanish · 18/05/2026 22:16

Knowing I was scheduled for ivf. Cliched but as soon as I let go of the responsibility to conceive, it happened naturally. It’s hard to create that sense of relief yourself though, so I won’t be the twit that says ‘just relax’. Good luck x

Robotic excision of stage 4 deep infiltrating endometriosis (which I didn’t realise I had). Finally got pregnant on the second cycle after my period came back, on the wrong side of 40!

LillyLeaf · 18/05/2026 22:18

IVF, 3 pregnancies, 1 child.

Nogimachi · 18/05/2026 22:18

Both times - we’d given up and thought we might never have children / we might not have any more children respectively and it happened.

Starburst360 · 18/05/2026 22:19

Pre seed lube

Sage396 · 18/05/2026 22:21

Guaifenesin. I gather there's no real evidence for it and of course I've no way of knowing, but we were trying for over a year, then I read about Guaifenesin, and fell pregnant two months in a row while taking it (first was a chemical, but now I'm 28 weeks pregnant).

Ponderingwindow · 18/05/2026 22:24

An aggressive uterine surgery that was predicted to halve my fertility, followed by a rigorous and frustrating sex schedule prescribed by our reproductive endocrinologist.

we sometimes also credit the increasingly insane lingerie I used to help my husband maintain his duties despite fatigue.

Spaghettioverload · 18/05/2026 22:26

An app, ovulation tests, doing the deed at the right times - even tho that was five or six days out of seven, keeping hips raised afterwards. Got pregnant first month of trying each time! We were very lucky. We wouldn’t have been able to keep that up long term but felt it was worth giving it our all to begin with.

Disturbia81 · 18/05/2026 22:26

Struggled for a few years and then I got to 20 stone and got pregnant easily, biology doesn’t make sense sometimes

azuresky50 · 18/05/2026 22:28

Conceive+ gel did the job for us. We tried for months with nothing then used it during my ovulation days and boom.. pregnant. Apparently the gel creates a very friendly environment for sperm to survive. Hope it will work for you x

The purple ovulation test by Clearblue (not the pink one it was inaccurate for me). I swear by this test. My daughter wouldn't be here without this. Got pregnant month 2 of trying age 40.

inmyera · 18/05/2026 22:33

I had a very high pressure job, ended up having 3 weeks off sick with stress and got pregnant in those 3 weeks 🙈 after years of trying. so agree with the relax theory!

WimbyAce · 18/05/2026 22:33

I think I spent most of my 30s trying for babies! Prob tried everything under the sun! I do believe acupuncture helped, get a decent one though that specialises in fertility.

ec5881 · 18/05/2026 22:37

Quit my job with pain in the arse line manager, that guy caused me so much stress. Found another and they were awesome. Got pregnant as soon as I dumped that line manager. Also big nights out with lots of booze.

AliTheMinx · 18/05/2026 22:40

I was obsessively doing ovulation tests, and used a sperm gel and kept my legs in the air afterwards for about 15 minutes!!! We were trying for a baby after 2 miscarriages and these were the 2 things I did differently. I had a real sense that it was successful - I can't quite describe it... DS is now 14!

NarnianQueen · 18/05/2026 22:41

sunshineandshowers21 · 18/05/2026 21:45

i’m not advocating this, and it’s purely anecdotal. but i know three women who struggled to get pregnant who started mounjaro, and were all pregnant within six months. including my sister in law. it took four years to have their first, three months of mounjaro and she was pregnant.

This is interesting - do you think it’s something in the chemicals or is it just that they had lost a bit of weight and were a bit healthier?

TheGoodOnesAreAllGone · 18/05/2026 22:44

After a year of trying with no success, went on holiday and came back pregnant. I had a pretty stressful job at the time so presume that was the issue
