I’m in my 20’s, mum is in her 60’s.

I’ve asked her if she wants to go on a girls trip at the end of the year. 4 nights in a city in Europe (we’ve not chosen yet).

Would you do this? I don’t know if It seems a little odd to do or if it’s totally normal.

Sounds lovely.

Should’ve done options - YABU - it’s weird

YANBU - totally normal thing to do

Totally normal! I guess if you had a bad or not close relationship then you wouldn’t but that’s the same for any people!

enjoy!

MissAmbrosia · 13/05/2026 13:56

I'd love it if my dd asked me to go away with her.

Lifesyoungdream · 13/05/2026 13:57

Yes my daughter and I would do it. Not sure why you would think it was odd.

BetterOffNow · 13/05/2026 13:57

I go away with my adult daughter every year, it's brilliant! She keeps me young and I'm more likely to do exciting stuff when I'm with her. Highly recommend it!

We’re really close. I’m just not sure if we’re in that stage where I should be going and doing it alone (totally happy to travel alone!), but I think it would be lovely and she seems quite keen

It completely normal, I go with my mum. My adult daughter goes with me. I work in travel and book loads of other mums and daughters too.

budgiegirl · 13/05/2026 14:01

but I think it would be lovely and she seems quite keen

Then that's all you need to know.

fluffiphlox · 13/05/2026 14:02

I used to go with my mum. Why is it odd?

jackstini · 13/05/2026 14:02

I’m 53 and went away for a few days with dd 19 - was lovely

Also just done a family break - mum, aunts, sister - 3 in 70s, 2 in 50s. Fab time!

Imanautumn · 13/05/2026 14:03

Absolutely!

wndqstn · 13/05/2026 14:03

I go away with my mum at least once a year! I’m in my early 30s, have kids (they come with us, husbands - her and mine- stay home). Before kids we’d just go away the 2 of us

Westun · 13/05/2026 14:10

Looking back some of the best holidays I’ve had was when I was early - mid 20s and went away a few times with my mum and aunt. It was in the space when she didn’t have to parent me (or be a grandparent) and we had a lot of good fun. We’ve had holidays since but with my own children in tow we still had a great time but with responsibilities the dynamics were different.

redskyAtNigh · 13/05/2026 14:12

If you both get on well and both want to then go for it.

I would find it a bit odd if, as a person in your 20s, you did everything with your mum, but one short break amongst (presumably) other things is totally normal!

Wampwhad · 13/05/2026 14:13

Just at the end of 2 weeks away with mine after meeting up with her on her travels. It’s been amazing!

zurigo · 13/05/2026 14:14

If you get on really well, then why not?

Oohanothername · 13/05/2026 14:14

Well... I'm mid to late 40s and I would absolutely NOT go away with my mum (early 70s) because we aren't close in that way, or close at all, really.

But I have a late teens daughter and we would (and do) go away together 100%, and will continue to do so, I hope. My favourite time is the time with her, we're close and like the same things.

So it depends

Jackiepumpkinhead · 13/05/2026 14:15

I holiday with my mum every year, at least once a year. It’s great.

MaturingCheeseball · 13/05/2026 14:15

For the dd it’s an all-inclusive holiday 🤪😭

Allmarbleslost · 13/05/2026 14:16

I would never in a million years do this with my mum but I very much hope that my daughters will want to do it with me!

Savvysix1984 · 13/05/2026 14:18

Totally normal!

Peonies12 · 13/05/2026 14:18

yes i've done this! it's a lovely thing to do!

Jellybunny98 · 13/05/2026 14:18

Normal to me! My sister & I have always done a holiday with our mum each year, now I have children and she is coming with all of us. We have a lovely close relationship and we all enjoy it!

Maddy70 · 13/05/2026 14:18

I go with my daughter frequently
