Would you go on holiday with your adult daughter?

I’m in my 20’s, mum is in her 60’s.

I’ve asked her if she wants to go on a girls trip at the end of the year. 4 nights in a city in Europe (we’ve not chosen yet).

Would you do this? I don’t know if It seems a little odd to do or if it’s totally normal.

I would 100% do this, and have. My late mum and I went on several trips together and they generated lovely memories.

blankcanvas3 · 13/05/2026 16:13

Totally normal, I’m older than you and I go away with my stepmum all the time

FullofChocolate · 13/05/2026 16:21

i think it’s absolutely lovely… and I’m very envious if I’m being honest… I have a very very difficult relationship with my mother and would have given my right arm to be able to do something like this.. so I hope you go on the trip and have a wonderful time 🙂

MrsKeats · 13/05/2026 16:22

I do this with my daughters all the time.

Harry12345 · 13/05/2026 16:22

I did it with my mum now she can’t do it and I miss it so much, enjoy x

Kittyloulou · 13/05/2026 16:23

My daughter is in her 20’s and I’m in my 50’s. We go on European city breaks together. It’s great because she likes to be in charge of the itinerary and I’m just lazy and enjoy whatever she’s come up with. 😊

JoWilkinsonsno1fan · 13/05/2026 16:23

Not weird at all went to a Ibiza for 4 days with my youngest (19yo) last year and to Krakow with the 22yo - I love it, and they say they do too.

AhMh67 · 13/05/2026 16:24

Absolutely I go to America with my daughter every year.we do 3 to 4 mini breaks involving theme parks each year. Just allow rest times in your plannig

Yeah, I’ve been away with my adult daughter. Had lovely breaks.👍

I've done this with my mum before my children were born. We went to Bath, it was so, so lovely.

Queenofheart · 13/05/2026 16:30

I took my son away for a long weekend to Barcelona, his choice, for his 21st, we both had an amazing time, talked non stop, had a fabulous hotel with pool and spa facilities, went on a bike tour, lots of walking, sightseeing, and ate lovely food, it was amazing, we both loved it ... and the fact it was his suggestion when I asked him what he wanted for his 21st made it all the more special for me :)

Padz12 · 13/05/2026 16:30

Depends on your relationship.
I’d go with my Daughters but not with my Mum!

ChateauProvence · 13/05/2026 16:32

Totally normal me and my mum did it every year until my LO was born - once she is a bit older we will probably start again but the 3 of us - have the best time and make lovely memories with your mum

CookieDoughJoe · 13/05/2026 16:33

It’s perfectly normal. I regularly go on holiday with my Mum. I also regularly go away with friends and sometimes by myself. I enjoy all of these but I enjoy going on holiday with my Mother most.

wanderlustdiaries · 13/05/2026 16:33

Thanks everyone! I’d love to make it a yearly thing

@Kittyloulou I’m not lazy but DD1 in particular is very organised on sightseeing! I’m organised on coffee stops!

LittleMy80 · 13/05/2026 16:34

I'm in my 40s and still do this at least once a year with my mum...maybe a few more coffee/wine stops in the last couple of years now she's getting a bit older, but I love spending time with her like this & she's an easy travel buddy.

CaptainMyCaptain · 13/05/2026 16:34

Lifesyoungdream · 13/05/2026 13:57

Yes my daughter and I would do it. Not sure why you would think it was odd.

Same.

LisaD1 · 13/05/2026 16:35

I have an 8 year age gap between my girls and go away with the eldest a cple of times a year, she doesnt live at home (late 20’s) and its a great way to get quality time together. Not weird at all imo, enjoy :)

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 13/05/2026 16:36

I've got three adult daughters and I've been on holiday with all of them, separately and together. We always have the best time - in fact my youngest is talking about heading to Paris again this year and we've raised the idea of whoever is available going on a short break to Austria.

As long as we have our own bedrooms and therefore some space away from one another at times, we love it!

Moonnstarz · 13/05/2026 16:37

Not sure why you think this is odd. I used to go yearly with my mum.

wanderlustdiaries · 13/05/2026 16:40

I just feel like I should be going alone, but I don’t know why I feel that

palestsilver · 13/05/2026 16:41

I go away with my mum (and dad) regularly and I’m 40! I also do trips solo and with friends, it’s nice to have a mix of experiences :)

If you want to go alone then do but this is completely normal and I know loads of people who go away with their mum.

I assume you do day trips with her and so why should this be any different.

Honestly it sounds lovely 💐

Girlwithavibe · 13/05/2026 16:46
