Link to spreadsheet of Labour MPS calling for resignation - https://x.com/GuidoFawkes/status/2053925699824574889

Streeting has to make his move now, Starmer will never be this weak and he has the chance to go now.

Burnham might be more likely to win, but he is not in, and where exactly is a safe seat by election they could parachute him in for? (nowhere)

So - Streeting will never have a better chance of being PM, he pulls the trigger NOW or he never pulls it at all.

I did say on Thursday that I thought it would be Friday or Monday.... Tuesday is a pretty good guess.

This is a quiet Bat People moment... That Speech... not worth remembering...

Has anyone posted this yet (from today)?

[the] parliamentary committee tasked with reviewing files relating to Peter Mandelson’s appointment as US ambassador has revealed that the government is withholding his vetting file despite not having the authority to do so.

In an extraordinary intervention, the intelligence and security committee (ISC) has criticised the government over its handling of the release of Mandelson-related papers and in effect accused ministers failing to comply with parliament’s will.

What do you mean by the ‘shooting war with Russia’ and by ‘way bigger triggers’ - triggers for what? When do you think the economic meltdown is going to come? I’d say we’re already in one, and have been since 2020, as I don’t think our economy has recovered since.

TopPocketFind · 15/05/2026 21:34

"Shooting war with Russia"

What do you mean with that @SingleSexSpacesInSchools ?

SingleSexSpacesInSchools · 15/05/2026 21:41

There is a very high predicted possibility (compared to 1995-2010 ish) of a shooting war between Russia and a NATO state before 2030. We are already in a non shooting war. US troop withdrawals not to mention defence underspending has made Russia more likely to take overt steps.

Thanks so much for posting this!
I had not yet seen it.
It is disgusting! Definitively, we need to keep demanding clarity on the Mandelson affairs, keep asking, keep pushing for all the truth to come out.
Starmer is using all powers he has to keep it under wraps. He fired a civil servant, without proper procedure, just thrown out, he wipped MPs to block a public enquiry into it and now what.... blocking access to information....
Come on! He could just plant a neon sign on it and be done with it!

I said it was foolish to quote someone else’s odds back to me - as I was asking for the commenters odds. Not the bookies odds.

i still am.

dunno who would be upset by that

And by way bigger triggers I mean more likely to trigger significant political change and possibly another GE early.

as for economic issues

  • UK government borrowing costs are surging, with gilt yields at levels not seen since 2008, making debt and mortgages more expensive. (reuters.com)
  • Britain has almost no fiscal headroom left, meaning another shock likely means tax rises, spending cuts or both. (obr.uk)
  • The UK remains dangerously exposed to gas prices because homes and industry still heavily depend on gas, leaving the country vulnerable to future energy spikes. (resolutionfoundation.org)
  • Weak growth and poor productivity mean the economy is struggling to generate enough wealth to sustain current levels of public spending.
  • Rising welfare, NHS and defence costs are all hitting at once while the tax base stagnates.

the borrowing costs are already quite a lot higher than when we binned Liz Truss for making it happen.

so. If it gets worse. And it will. It’s going to fall apart.

Why would a government facing economic crisis want to call a general election early?! 🤔

Does that mean much if it’s Reuters?

SingleSexSpacesInSchools · 15/05/2026 21:51

Notably I didn’t mention the AI apocalypse because I think that is incredibly overstated that’s not going to kill us but there was a very good chance. The AI bubble will kill us because the amount of venture capital that has gone into companies and systems that will never turn a profit is staggering.

for example the SMP 500 is staggeringly over valued.

all of our pensions are tied up in this.

it’s about to pop.

It’s not a personal attack. I said it makes it look lazy. That is not personal.

Also, you said a couple of pages ago that you are ‘vigorous and spirited in debate, as I think it should be’ and ‘Talking is important. We should keep doing a lot more of it.’

Yet whenever anyone criticises something you do on here - which they are perfectly entitled to do - you say it’s a personal attack. It’s not.

Calling the use of Chat GPT lazy is very different to insulting someone.
