Almost 80 MPs have called for Starmer to Resign. Streeting making his move before Burnham has a chance to get in. Leadership election between Starmer, Streeting & Rayner, & a few MPs looking to make a name. Official Tue 12th?

Link to spreadsheet of Labour MPS calling for resignation - https://x.com/GuidoFawkes/status/2053925699824574889

Streeting has to make his move now, Starmer will never be this weak and he has the chance to go now.

Burnham might be more likely to win, but he is not in, and where exactly is a safe seat by election they could parachute him in for? (nowhere)

So - Streeting will never have a better chance of being PM, he pulls the trigger NOW or he never pulls it at all.

I did say on Thursday that I thought it would be Friday or Monday.... Tuesday is a pretty good guess.

This is a quiet Bat People moment... That Speech... not worth remembering...

In 2022 you called for a GE twice? Did you not learn from that experience?

PR, I agree on.

If I had the opportunity to design a new electoral system, it would be one that was based on proportional representation and it would also be one that most likely ran every 12 months and replaced 20% of the MPs with whatever the country thought it should be that time

possibly every 24 months with a 10 year term for each MP, I’m not sure of the details

perhaps a better system would be a House of Commons with a much higher turnover and a House of Lords with a much lower turnover to see how that would work

Again with the needless personal attacks.

you just look petty.

it’s not lazy to use a search engine to find things is it?

sorry you’re not familiar with the benefits of using new tech to find things easily. I am.

if I needed to hide it, I could.

I used to use Copilot and Chat GPT for researching links, just as you have, but prefer to research things myself as they’d often give me incorrect links.

What do you mean by running every 12 or 24 months with a 10-year term for each MP? If MPs get 10-year terms, I don’t get why the electoral system needs to run every 12 or 24 months? And what happens if an MP commits misconduct?

Thefastandthecurious5 · 15/05/2026 21:59

It’s not a personal attack. I said it makes it look lazy. That is not personal.

Also, you said a couple of pages ago that you are ‘vigorous and spirited in debate, as I think it should be’ and ‘Talking is important. We should keep doing a lot more of it.’

Yet whenever anyone criticises something you do on here - which they are perfectly entitled to do - you say it’s a personal attack. It’s not.

Calling the use of Chat GPT lazy is very different to insulting someone.

It’s a personal attack as you Well know you have attacked me for apparently not having a proper job. You have attacked me for being lazy and several other things in this discussion. I called you one thing about being a socialist which I think is a perfectly legitimate insult given how ridiculous socialism is and I then apologised for it because you crawled to me with some direct p.m. asking me how I could be such a terrible person to say socialism is bad.

you don’t seem to be able to accept an apology, one I see you didn’t deserve now, and move on.

You seem to think the rules don’t apply to you. I am trying to have a decent respectful political debate but you’re reducing it to childish attacks like saying using ChatGPT to find links is lazy and I don’t have a proper job. I don’t quite understand where you’re coming from that’s okay good for you, but I’m not gonna engage with you anymore.

keep your head in the sand I don’t think you have the slightest idea what’s coming to you

The problem with quick turnarounds is MPs might prioritise short term wins over larger long term gains

True. Which they do now. Unable to see past a five year term.

unlike appointed lords. They can’t be got rid of so easy. As long as we appoint good ones….

The idea being you re-elect 20% of the available MPs every 12 months if you are running on a five year cycle

That way you get to correct the make-up of the House of Commons closer towards public opinion but without having a massive shake up every five years instead you get a smoother curve of political positions

Yes, I said you didn’t have a proper job, and I asked if you work, because you were posting on this thread every few minutes, so I was genuinely interested in whether you worked or not. I also wanted to needle you, because I felt you were being deliberately rude to a few posters on here who did not share your views.

I did not say you were lazy, and I haven’t said anything else, so I’m not sure what ‘several other things’ you’re referring to.

You called me a ‘shitty Socialist’ and ‘epically thick’. I then PM’ed you to ask why you thought it was okay to call me a ‘shitty Socialist’. Note I did not ask you how, in your words, ‘I could be such a terrible person to say socialism is bad.‘

You are not trying to have a decent, respectful, political debate, because whenever someone disagrees with you, which is quite frequent, you swear at them or insult them. That is clearly shown by the amount of posts you’ve written that MNHQ have deleted.

I’m not sure what you mean by ‘keep your head in the sand I don’t think you have the slightest idea what’s coming to you’. If that’s meant to be a threat, it’s not scaring me, as I’m a well educated, multilingual, comfortably off woman who will do just fine, thank you. It also just shows how hypocritical you are to say that and, in the same breath, that you’re only here for ‘respectful political debate’.

I can only assume you’re being willfully blind.

they don’t always get to choose. Sometimes circumstances force their hand.

The last time that happened was 52 years ago, when Edward Heath called a snap election in 1974 to try and manage the miners’ strike. All our elections since then - including snap elections - have happened because of factors within the government’s control.

In theory, this sounds good, but in practice, I don’t think the government would be able to deliver any meaningful work with this level of MP turnover. I can’t see how any policies would ever get seen through and put into law under this system.

Notably I didn’t mention the AI apocalypse because I think that is incredibly overstated that’s not going to kill us but there was a very good chance. The AI bubble will kill us because the amount of venture capital that has gone into companies and systems that will never turn a profit is staggering.

for example the SMP 500 is staggeringly over valued.

all of our pensions are tied up in this.

it’s about to pop.

Even if our pensions take a hit, it’s not actually an issue unless we’re about to retire in the next 5 or so years. If we’re planning to retire later, there is reasonable expectation that our pensions will recover (as people like Martin Lewis and Robert Peston often say). So I don’t think this is a huge issue.

The OP is a man, by the way - at least according to his post from 12th May at 14:58, where he says this:

this is me https://www.gbnews.com/news/trans-row-brighton-news-father-sue-school
it's pretty much my single policy voting position.
And I am here right now - because I LOVE TALKING POLITICS :D

There is such a tonal shift in the OPs posting style depending on which board they’re on. Outside of FWR, they appear to have serious ‘main character syndrome’ - (that big dick energy has reduced in FWR over time)

Has @SingleSexSpacesInSchools, claimed to be a woman?

It is a strange, often I have a feeling on MN, that I have been communicating with a man, call it my female intuition, and wonder if because it is MN, I just assume PPs are women. Is it just me?

I would love to know what “big dick energy”
specifically, means?

someone who asserts an opinion and advocates for someone / something?

honestly sounds like a really sexist phrase if you ask me (you didn’t). I don’t like being reduced to my genitals.
