Streeting has to make his move now, Starmer will never be this weak and he has the chance to go now.

Burnham might be more likely to win, but he is not in, and where exactly is a safe seat by election they could parachute him in for? (nowhere)

So - Streeting will never have a better chance of being PM, he pulls the trigger NOW or he never pulls it at all.

The MP Rupa Huq just denied she signed a letter in support in KS (the letter signed by around 111 MPs). It’ll be interesting to see if anyone else who supposedly signed the letter says anything similar to her. That could mean fewer MPs are prepared to publicly support KS than previously thought.

So. Streeting talks to Starmer this morning, prior to the King's speech.

Fact - if Burnham had been an MP yesterday, the gun would have already been fired. The ONLY reason half of labour MPs are waiting (likely most of the ones who said Starmer don't go) - is because they want Burnham in the ring.

Current prediction. Streeting is talking to Starmer today and saying half want you to go now, half want you to go in six months.

Outcome - either Starmer agrees to a caretaker role and he leaves in six months, allowing Burnham in somehow. OR Starmer says he won't go, and Streeting forces his hand.

A zombie Prime Minister, is what we have now. Thats no good to anyone. Starmer has been mortally wounded by the last 4 days. He cannot limp on like this.

The only question is how many hats are thrown into the ring.

We may well not find out until Thursday, or even later, but the agreement will happen, a plan to damage Labour the least.

I don't think Streeting has the required number of MPs to back him. It's all just delaying the inevitable though. Yesterday's poll showing Labour has slumped even further in the ratings will only have created more unrest.

I think if Starmer fired Rachel from Accounts, he may buy himself some time. A lot of his problems stem from her.

Contrary to your predictions yesterday, Streeting doesn’t have the support he needs. Catherine West went too soon but it’s nice to see Streeting’s buddies have resigned with nothing to show for it.

None of that helps Starmer's position though. Harriet Harman has caused further damage to him this morning and she's only been in her role for a few days. Such a ridiculous debacle.

A few predicted this. There's still time. No doubt Streeting would also go in a reshuffle.

Wes Streeting should have gone to see the PM in number 10 through a different door and kept a low profile.
He has said on numerous occasions that he supports the PM, so clearly another one who isn’t to be trusted.
It all adds to the drama walking in and out 🙄He’ll probably be reshuffled out very soon anyway.
