Learn to build healthy boundaries and let go of guilt that you know you should not carry. - This for me has been difficult I have felt/ been made responsible for my mum my whole life. But I am not. It has taken nearly 2 years of therapy but I am feeling free.

Ask for what you want, because of you don't ask the answer is always no.

This is amazing!

Ding ding ding. That little bell ringing in your ears ? It's a warning. Listen to it.
I learned the hard way.

Melarus · Yesterday 22:59

Most people act the way they do out of fear, even if they don't realise it themselves

AInightingale · Yesterday 23:01

I read something along the lines of 'our present is tomorrow's history'. Things that seem bizarre or wrong or misguided in the past were once popularly held beliefs or fashionable theories, socially acceptable or uncontested. It's an interesting way of looking at things, I think. A lot of people in the future will be embarrassed by the views and causes they espoused without questioning them more deeply.

Me too . I would have saved myself so much stress and heartache if I had listened to that dinging bell .

'In a 100 years you and everyone you know will be dead and forgotten, so what are you worried about?'

Helps me put things in perspective when things are tough.

MrsNutkins · Yesterday 23:05

You can turn a negative into a positive. Sometimes it just takes time and patience, but it is definitely possible.

Oh yes, I do this too. Really helps

People will come and go but the right ones will stay .

beasmithwentworth · Yesterday 23:09

My mum says one that used to annoy me but now I say it in my head the whole time and it’s really useful.
If it can’t happen it won’t happen

Ie if I’m thinking about parking on the double yellow lines outside my friend’s house as I’ll only be 30 seconds - that phrase pops into my head and I’ll go and find a proper space.

That’s just one example. It saves me from a multitude of stupid / careless decisions

Always take your own tea bags to Spain

very true that!

Pinknotpurple · Yesterday 23:11

People are rarely as confident as they pretend to be

If what you're worrying about won't matter this time next year it's not worth worrying about

Would you rather be right or effective?

Always take your own tea bags to Spain

Much as I love the wisdom of many of the other suggestions on this thread, by God this one is one to remember and act on! 😁

my ones are:
Shit happens (as in, bad stuff happens, but hey ho, just get on with things).
Decisions are made by those who show up.
Time and the hour run through the roughest day.

Never drink blue drinks.
No bare bums on the sofa.

Take every opportunity you are given. I have only ever regretted those I have declined, never, despite problems, those I have accepted.

No, treat others are they would wish to be treated. I would like to be treated to a big steak. My vegetarian daughter most definitely would not!

It should be treat others a you would wish to be treated in the same situation.

If I were a murderer I would expect to serve my time but be treated humanely. So it's not a free pass to forgive everything absolutely.
