To want stability in this country and to be fed up of all the witch hunts

So sick of the media and now everyone else constantly wanting political unrest.

Really since David Cameron its been a trend. Let's find dirt and oust the PM. They dont care what party it is, they just like gossip and resignation and arent happy until they get it. Then they start all over again....

I'm not saying i care about any particular one staying in power, i just want stability and honestly why would the good MPs want that job when theyve seen whay happens to you.

I think the media create stories rather than factually report the news.

Whatever the political party, please allow time for change to happen 🤷‍♀️

beguilingeyes · 11/05/2026 18:21

24 hour rolling news has been a disaster. They have to find something to talk about whatever.

Yes.
The media and many biographers are absolute shite and they encourage rumour and hatred in the general public. They positively relish anything salacious and when that is exhausted, publish trivia.

AddictedToTea · 11/05/2026 18:23

Totally agree. Starmer seems a decent bloke. We need to let him serve his term.

PygmyOwl · 11/05/2026 18:24

Totally agree OP. Give people a chance.

PomplaMouse · 11/05/2026 18:26

OP is a DISGRACE and should RESIGN
IMMEDIATELY.

We need a new OP.

It's the WILL OF THE PEOPLE (at this moment in time).

The Daily Mail is the worst- that absurdity of front page after front page about whether Starmer had a beer after a meeting. It went on for week, it was not news it was a hate driven campaign

decorationday · 11/05/2026 18:33

It's like another manifestation of everyone's shortened attention spans. "Oh, the PM hasn't magically fixed problems that were decades in the making and aggravated by global events - let's boot him out and give someone else their 15 minute slot."

The man is not a fucking magician.

acourtofmistandfury · 11/05/2026 18:34

The media want Farage in because the media is owned by the billionaires that he protects. They don’t care about the ordinary people in this country

Yet the media were all defending their right to drink at work when the new Green MP pointed out how awful it is!

SilenceInside · 11/05/2026 18:35

I think all the politicians angling for the PM role are probably arrogant enough to think that they could grab it by the horns and do a brilliant job. Thus missing the point that when you are actually in charge you have a lot more constraints and considerations than it might appear from the outside.

Or. They know it’s always a poisoned chalice but they want their name in the history books and the ex-PM’s allowance. Plus the status for future job opportunities.

ButterYellowFlowers · 11/05/2026 18:36

Agreed. Everyone seems to think that if life isn’t all roses within a year the government should be pulled apart again. People forget things take time and seem to blame the PM for everything in life.

Make politicians boring grown up suits again who get voted in, do their job for half a decade and then leave for the next old suit.

I was a journalist for a decade. There was barely any drinking at work… after work yes but never at work. And I worked across the tabloids.

Its relentless against all other parties apart from Reform but especially against women MPs and slightly left ones .... Daily Mail are just awful at this

Nanda66 · 11/05/2026 18:38

I agree. It’s a witch hunt. I think a lot of people don’t understand how our politics works. Changing the prime minister doesn’t change the government.

xanthomelana · 11/05/2026 18:39

Maybe they could try doing their job without any dodgy dealings and have no dirt for the media to dish up? Just a thought. I think the problem is Starmer sat on the opposition benches holier than thou for a long time when he’s not exactly squeaky clean himself, all his tweets about the conservatives have come back to haunt him.

Orangebadger · 11/05/2026 18:44

Totally agree. It has been a total witch hunt against Starmer and yes he’s fucked up in some areas and is not the biggest personality out there but we seem to forget what happened the last time we did have a PM with a larger than life personality! No one in their right mind would want that job. The media circus just set the masses against you regardless.

Cheesipuff · 11/05/2026 18:45

We had the 2008/9 financial crash when Cameron was pm, then Brexit which caused mayhem, then Covid -it was events, dear boy, events -as much as anything -we now have Trump and wars
but the country deeeeesperately needs changes -and not ones to increase minimum pay and benefits (which Rayner) wants -so if she gets in it will be more changes

I’m talking about MP’s drinking at work. But they criticised Starmer for drinking after a meeting.

ByGraptharsHammer · 11/05/2026 18:48

He should tough it out. His party don’t really have the discipline for governing if they behead him like this. Besides, who is the replacement and why would they be better? No one has an answer to that one.

BeardySchnauzer · 11/05/2026 18:54

I’m not a fan of starmers start and I’m glad he’s picked up on the negativity having been an issue. Not sure he can row it back but I can’t see how yet another leadership election to replace a PM will help. It will just be 6 lame duck months followed by the new PM realising what a shit position the country is in

he needs to get a handle on the economy - sort out the mess they’re making on jobs and stop being so scared to make a difficult decision. Make the difficult decisions early and hopefully people will see the benefits by the next election

they could start by sorting out the tax system so it’s much simpler and efficient without cliff edges and loopholes. Get HMRC and HMT talking and co-operating.

TheDivergentEnigma · 11/05/2026 18:55

They do this with football managers, too, knee-jerk reactions when things go wrong and the desire for quick fixes and results. Neither of which is a reality in life, and it's a pipe dream.

It's not the mistakes that count; we have all been there, but it's how you respond, recover, and put things right. Even more so with complex situations like running a country. It's not going to be plain sailing, and all the best manifestos and intentions come to earth with a bump when reality kicks in; they never end up how they were actually intended.

Consistency, resiliency, and the ability to learn and adapt are very important parts of leadership.

I think we should let Starmer ride the storm.

Time will tell if he can use this chaos and carnage to come out the other side a better PM.

The only problem with that statement is that Starmer doesn’t have the same view…or at least he didn’t in 2022 :)

ByGraptharsHammer · 11/05/2026 19:12

TBH I think the game of “X has happened and you must resign” is getting ridiculous.

It should be “get on with it and don’t resign”. The electorate should sack him if they don’t like him.
