I’ve just read Angela’s Raynor’s statement about why Labour did so badly and what they need to do to change….aibu to think SHE STILL DOESNT GET IT!! Nothing mentioned about welfare, nothing mentioned about immigration-these are 2 subjects most talked about as the reasons why people didn’t vote for Labour.
she might not like it-but id they want to stay in power, they MUST tackle these subjects and not just ignore them because they dint fit her narrative.

I can’t see a mention from you of the Brighton gang rape upthread. This is the first I have heard of the Brighton gang rape, and I can’t find any other gang rape cases in the UK news.

I did say this about murders and rapes committed by foreign nationals:

As for murders and raped committed by foreign nationals, these happen but they’re rare, and most of the time, the people committing them are here legally.

I am not selective about the information I absorb, and I do not have the time or money to read everything in the media. Equally, I’m not lying or misrepresenting to suit my agenda. If this is in reference to my point about Shabana Mahmood’s policies, I stand by what I said.

Here you go. I quoted a response to you earlier. I won’t reproduce the whole thing but here’s the bit about gang rapes and raids. Obviously not an exhaustive list but a starting point. I have added in a link to the Brighton gang rape, it was splashed all over the news quite recently. 23rd April. One of them apparently also wanted for murder. The bold bits below are your earlier questions.

Two gang rapes in Bristol, one in Brighton, Leamington Spa in a short timescale.

If you’re referring to gang rapes committed by grooming gangs, these are extremely rare, and the men committing them were British nationals.
No these are not ‘extremely rare’, there are an estimated tens of thousands, likely hundreds of thousands of victims repeatedly raped and abused over years in approx 80 UK towns and cities. And the fact that these men have been given British citizenship does not negate the fact that they are racist and have anti- western ideals.

I’ve not yet seen any reports of terrorist or criminal fugitives entering the U.K. illegally.
Most of the gang rapists I have mentioned came in on the asylum route. The asylum seeker who raped a woman in Hyde Park is a terrorist, I can’t find the article but there were other failed asylum seekers on the run from crimes they committed in Europe who came here on small boats. Just google ‘asylum seeker rape’ and see how many heartbreaking and totally avoidable cases there are where women and girls have had their lives changed forever (or ended) by these men.
Electoral fraud by ‘people with anti-Western views seeking to subvert our democracy’ is a constant threat, as shown by Russia’s increasing attempts to influence our elections, but it’s very well managed.
How is it being well managed if many in power won’t even admit that it’s happening? It’s not just Russia. They seem unbothered that potentially large numbers of Muslims are losing their right to a democratic vote and that postal voting is being abused.

These people worried about their daughters and grand daughters, and yet want to vote Reform who basically don't like women and want to change bills and acts to our detriment. Let's not forget Farage himself thinks Andrew Tate is an important voice for young men.

Make it make sense.

This.

And with a party leader who had an appalling attendance record in the European Parliament and has a poor attendance record in the UK parliament and has never had a proper job in his life. His kids are OK though, his wife is German (the irony) and they have EU passports. No restrictions in visiting the EU for them.

So, we’ve had UKIP, the Brexit party, now Reform, so many name changes, l wonder what they will call themselves next year.

never had a proper job in his life

What exactly do you mean by this? I know several people who work as commodity traders now - do they not have proper jobs?

Where did I say that? This thread is about Angela Rayner - feel free to start one about Farage if you’re that interested.

It's a "compare and contrast" scenario and also an example of the different standards for men. Imagine if Rayner had been pictured with a pint in one hand and a fag in the other. Any woman of any political persuasion would be crucified by the media for this share.google/Hu5AjZwP3E4cjYNgj

However I may take your advice on board and start a thread called "Nigel Farage, a man of the people? Discuss"

It’s not immigration as a whole that bothers people (in my opinion), it’s illegal immigration.

Given Reform are offering to revoke the visas of people with Indefinite Leave to Remain and cutting the number of people coming in on student visas, and Rupert Lowe’s crew are discussing revoking the citizenship of British-born black and Asian people, I don’t think that is actually the case at all.

Although arguably slightly less healthy, as Nigel Farage was standing fully clothed enjoying his pint and his fag - Angela was looking far less dignified floating around in her vest on a dinghy with her vape.

I don’t understand your point about different standard as that is not what happened here. If Angela was standing around fully clothed with a pint and a fag but got slated for it you might have a point but she didn’t.

I’ll look forward to your Farage thread - if the extent of the gripes that people have with him are the often fictional or creative ones being aired on this thread, it will be a pretty positive one.

He made money, seemingly he got his millions from somewhere (putting aside his £5m “personal” donation for a minute) from playing with other’s money. That is not a proper job. Remember when the bankers crashed the UK economy at no loss to themselves?

People with proper jobs are noticed if they are absent from work, teachers, fire service, doctors, nurses and administrators who keep systems working.

Farage is a big smoker. I am sure he could have been pictured in many scenarios looking less than “politician”. Have you ever wondered why the media presents a working class woman in that way and no one else? Everything you have said suggests it is all about her background too.

It’s about being a teen mum not her class or background trust me I got pregnant with my first at 15 I come from an ok family middle class and the hate and disgust people had for me for being a teen mum was something else.
That and her speech impediment which she can’t help but people mock her for that too.

Plenty of working class and female politicians who no one really comments on but if you left school pregnant people expect you to be a failure. I’m not even a fan of hers but it’s undeniable she gets mocked for things she currently cannot control

I recall that Rachel Reeves was working for HBOS at the time - no doubt you blame her as well.

Urgh. I live in a town that's 30% Muslim and I don't recognise what you're saying at all. Two cultures can exist quite peacefully side by side. It's not either/or.

A lot of the places that are most upset about immigration are the places where they haven't ever experienced it, ie up in Northumberland. They're personally untouched by it and that makes it the scary, unseen bogeyman.

That really isn’t true. Have you ever been to parts of Birmingham , Sparkbrook, Sparkhill.

Gosh all those years I worked in finance. Good to know it wasn’t a ‘proper’ job. If only I’d known I wouldn’t have worked those 12 hours days for years..

Totally agree, there is a massive difference in legal immigration and unvetted criminals, mainly men coming on a boat. The radical left seem to group these two groups together.

EilonwyWithRedGoldHair · 11/05/2026 20:01

ThisDandyWriter · 11/05/2026 08:25

Or listen to what the people of this country actually want? People do not (in general) want more illegal immigrants. They do not want their taxes going up at the same time as welfare spending going up whilst dealing with increased COL themselves.

Labour are not LISTENING.

Most welfare spending - over half - goes on the state pension. What do people want done about that?

We have an aging population, a birthrate far below replacement level and older people vote, so the parties do tend to listen to them and it's why, so far, the state pension has been untouchable and the attempt to cut the WFA failed.

What about high housing costs - an issue that again nobody wants to address because nobody who owns property wants to see prices come down, so instead we give billions to landlords via benefits just so people can keep a roof over their heads.

Reform aren't the answer to those issues. They're climate change deniers - as many on the right seem to be - presumably because they're in the pockets of fossil fuel companies and climate change driven immigration actually benefits them as they can use it to scaremonger to their hearts content.

Playing gambling games with other people’s money and making millions is not “working in finance”. Accountancy is.

FasterMichelin · 11/05/2026 20:09

YABU. I don’t think parties should bend to popular views any sign people don’t like what they say, that’s the whole problem with politics today!

Parties should be fighting for what they consider to be right. People either agree or disagree with them, vote for them or don’t.

Morality shouldn’t be switched on and off according to what mainstream media decide to back - which goes on to influence the public.

Stand by your morals and fight for what’s right - that’s what politics should be about.

Net migration has only got lower in their term because so many British people are LEAVING the country. The number of immigrants entering the country hasn’t actually got much lower at all.

Hope that helps

There is no actual proof of that. There is proof that migrant entry is reducing and that returns are increasing.

Hope that helps.

If someone is claiming they are gay when they are not, or pretending to convert to Christianity when they are not, and they do this to stay here when they would otherwise not be entitled, then yes, they are abusing the system.

There is little proof of that happening though, and even if it does, their applications are reviewed every five years.

Also, as I said, if we don't like the criteria, we should change the system.

You like him, I don't, I think his "man of the people" act is just that an act and I also think that Rayner gets real flack simply because of her accent and her background. I have no particular opinion of her though I appreciate she is hated and a lot of it seems (note I said seems) to be rooted in what is consider unseemly behaviour for a woman. The standads and expectations for women are always higher than they are for men. Thank heavens Farage was fullly clad, have you seen that pic from his Cameo account where he is wearing shorts? I am not sure what Rayner was up to in the dinghy, was she on holiday, official business or filming a Cameo greeting al la Farge or making a Tik Tok. I am guessing it was huge news in the Mail online

Angela Rayner

This was a year ago and she was on holiday and apparently she has now quit vaping. Do you relax on holiday, have a bit of fun and maybe dress down when you aren't at work? Why do photos of someone having some down time cause such ire in people, no wonder many are put off going into public life, you need a hide like a rhino.
