... not to understand the loathing of Keir Starmer?

So many people who haven't voted Labour, whether they used to or not, say they haven't voted Labour in yesterday's elections because of Keir Starmer. Is that shorthand for 'the current state of the Labour Party' or is it genuinely a real dislike of the man himself? He seems very bland and inoffensive to me, and in some ways is doing an OK job - e.g. in keeping us out of Trump's war without rupturing relations with the US. Maybe his blandness is the problem. Can anyone explain why people have this reaction to Starmer?

@Blossomtoes
We have fundamental issues with the economy in that we spend more than we earn and have mountains of debt. Servicing the uk debt is a mega drain on government finances. It’s very close to tanking and has little resilience. It’s awful to load this debt onto young people who already have issues with getting jobs and affording anything. The older people sucking in all the benefits need to think very carefully about this or the Greens will come in and you will be taxed until the pips squeak!

You mean old age pensioners who have worked and paid taxes for 40 years and want dignity in their old age?

There is a bullying streak to the British public and once you are on the wrong end of that, it won't abate until they decide it's more interesting and empowering to reconsider and 'let you off'.

Hence Ringo being the worst drummer ever, and all Sir Paul ever did was the Frog Chorus - until the media then decides Ringo's drumming was always brilliant and they're both national treasures.

Sir Keir is now on the wrong end of bullying and rightly or wrongly I can't see that changing. The Tories and maybe Reform always come across as more authentic because it's a given they're only in it for themselves, it's in their nature. Labour, on the other hand, are meant to be good for everyone but if there's not enough money to go round, they will be seen to fail, so they carry the whiff of failure generally. The standard they're held to are different.

You get Raynor being slated for filling out a form wrong but the Tories looted millions and, yes, they got caught sometimes but...

@Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g I forgot to mention the proposed destruction of court records! I mean - WTAF.

It seems like every week, something hugely dubious comes up.

I'm not one of these people who engages on these threads for an argument - so genuine question, is some of what's been listed here new to you? Because I feel as if it's strange there hasn't been more outcry about some of the things he's done

I find it quite hard to believe that some of these things are all just fine with people.
