To ask if you had terrible embarrassing lip filler swelling

How long it took to go down to normal again?

I have the most embarrassing bruises and puffiness ever and also an appointment with my psychiatrist on Monday (these two things are not related I just don't want him to think I'm madder than usual)

If you are my psychiatrist and it hasn't died down by Monday I guess this is pretty outing

I head butted the coin slot thing on a trolley and my lips blew up like balloons. I rather liked it once it stopped hurting. @CollectingAllTheACEs yours look gorgeous and I’m sure will again. I think whoever said that close ups are where you see it more is right in some cases but just goes to show the ridge can be natural too. I’m off to stare at my lips for a bit now

CollectingAllTheACEs · 12/05/2026 22:02

@Charlottapannacotta Thank you for believing me!

I agree, Filled lips are obvious — it’s always the upper / outer edge that looks thicker than it would naturally be. In that pic it’s obvious but it’s even more noticeable I’ve found if you knew how the person looked before the filler

Might help if you defined which pic

@CollectingAllTheACEs

your lips are to die for! I think they look so natural! To hell with anyone who thinks otherwise

Sorry — not yours although they are very nice 😂

CurlyhairedAssassin · 12/05/2026 22:44

What happens after the skin has been stretched and you eventually stop having them done? Are you left with wrinkly lips for ever?

theodextrey · 13/05/2026 00:30

Arnicare cream helps reduce bruising

I agree. The fact that most people who have them look so obvious - my DH thinks they’re absolutely ridiculous and he’s right!

Looks great actually

Is this not selection bias: the ones that are overdone are really noticeable so you know that they’ve had it, but you probably don’t realise how many people you walk past every day who have it done and you don’t notice. I have a tiny bit in my top lip. None in my bottom. My top lip is very thin naturally. I really don’t think this looks obvious!

You definitely can tell - before I read the text I assumed this was going to be an example of someone thinking it was subtle and proving it isn’t.

I don’t mean to be offensive, it doesn’t look bad like some do, it just doesn’t look like natural lips at all - it looks like someone with lip filler (which again, you are, so not in an offensive way!!)

Funnywonder · 13/05/2026 00:50

I think one of the most obvious signs of someone having lip fillers is the fact they are constantly licking their lips or just kind of tipping them with their tongue. Several of my mum’s carers had lip fillers, as I discovered when they didn’t have to wear masks anymore after the pandemic. I found myself having a very ‘misophonia’ type visceral reaction when having a conversation with them. The same one I get when I hear someone chewing. Or slurping their tea. Or crunching crisps. It’s like torture.

Hahahaha I was waiting for this one - this is actually the before picture - my lips are 100% natural in that photograph

Sure it is…. Did you get freckles tattooed on at the same time you did the lip fillers (except for the one you got removed)?

YourOnMute · 13/05/2026 01:51

I have a natural top lip shelf or ridge; it's very defined. These threads make me paranoid that people are judging me for having filler: which i don't.
I do have smoker's lines despite never smoking.

What freckles? There’s literally one in that picture which is something I’ve had my whole life. Maybe check your screen if you can see more

CollectingAllTheACEs · 13/05/2026 06:41

@Just3pounds it was a crop of one I already had in my phone - not sure what difference that makes?

@Just3pounds no it's just a selfie I took waiting to go to the pub! (I actually have a football shirt on 😂)

CurdinHenry · 13/05/2026 16:39

Can confirm all is well and they're a subtle improvement. You definitely can't usually tell - people who want the "done" look are aiming for a particular aesthetic. Getting cheeks done next and cannot wait!
