To ask if you had terrible embarrassing lip filler swelling

CurdinHenry · 08/05/2026 14:22

How long it took to go down to normal again?

I have the most embarrassing bruises and puffiness ever and also an appointment with my psychiatrist on Monday (these two things are not related I just don't want him to think I'm madder than usual)

If you are my psychiatrist and it hasn't died down by Monday I guess this is pretty outing

There’s a lot of shit lip filler out there I agree, and you’ll notice the obvious shelf-lips or duck pouts. But done well, you don’t know. So you can’t say that ALL lip fillers are shit and look awful.

I agree...you notice the shit, duck lip ones...but lots of people have really subtle decent filler. My cousin has it done...I can tell but it looks really good and nothing like the awful duck lips look.

Is this not selection bias: the ones that are overdone are really noticeable so you know that they’ve had it, but you probably don’t realise how many people you walk past every day who have it done and you don’t notice. I have a tiny bit in my top lip. None in my bottom. My top lip is very thin naturally. I really don’t think this looks obvious!

I can see it. The slight shelf above the lip line is a dead giveaway. It’s more noticeable from the side.

I would either think filler or swollen

Walkyrie · 11/05/2026 10:06

I hope this ridiculous trend for big lips soon fades off (and I say this as somebody with naturally big lips, not an embittered thin lipped person). Apparently the filler blocks the lymphatic system blockage, why the hell would you risk that? It’s very likely the trend will reverse soon, as they always do anyway.

DoubleShotEspressox · 11/05/2026 10:27

@User33538216 But you would have walked past hundreds of “objectively normal” people and not known they’ve had filler.
We all know that duck pouts look shit, but you will not be able to identify everyone with filler.

Maybe not to walk past in the street but I can absolutely identify everyone with filler after looking at their face for a couple of minutes or after a conversation. Even small amounts are very obvious.

Sorry but this is delusional. Paying money to look ridiculous. Beyond my understanding tbh koi

clearlyy · 11/05/2026 11:15

my last bit of filler gave me awful bruising on my top lip, I looked like I’d been punched for like 3 days! It soon went away. Luckily I could cover it with makeup and wasn’t actually doing anything as was off work. It was awful but soon subsided.

Don't delude yourself that it looks natural and you can't tell. You obviously have filler and it will be even more obvious when you talk and smile.

Thinking nobody can see you’ve had filler is delulu. Looking in the mirror it might look normal-ish but the side profile and the way your mouth moves when you talk is a dead giveaway. And this is from someone who is the least observant person on this planet.

CurdinHenry · 11/05/2026 20:45

User33538216 · 11/05/2026 09:56

NO lips are meant to be filled 😆

I know quite a few people who have had this procedure and it honestly doesn’t look good on anyone, although that’s my own opinion, I guess others think differently otherwise they wouldn’t have it done. If it makes someone feel better, then why not 😂

I hope it’s better today.

Today it's looking pretty good (although I'm told it will reduce further over the next week or so). I probably wouldn't do it again but I had essentially no lips before.

Comedycook · 11/05/2026 20:56

I think they look good

CluelessAboutBiology · 11/05/2026 21:39

Do you get bruising when they use fillers for lip hydration as well as augmentation?

For those who have had lip hydration, do you think it looks noticeable?

OtterlyAstounding · 11/05/2026 22:28

I think with the photos posted, there is an area where the lip filler appears to have spread above the top lip and created a ridge – but perhaps some people naturally have that lip shape? Also, neither photo has wildly full lips, so I don't think people would notice it talking casually to the person – it's more that in a zoomed in photo you're really focusing on the lips.

For some people with very thin lips, I imagine a bit of lip filler wouldn't look noticeable either. But most people seem to go overboard with it.

I hope yours end up looking good, OP!

If you mean the pic I posted then yes I've always had that 'ridge' above my lip - it led people to often think I'd had fillers years ago which was really annoying! My lips now pretty much look like they did before surgical menopause robbed me of them 😂

Why would you care if your psychiatrist noticed @CurdinHenry ?

I think that looks really natural. Im not saying that there wouldn't be tell tale signs if someone knew what they were looking for, but I think even then they wouldn't know for sure, and most people wouldn't study anyone else's face enough to think they weren't natural

If you think that looks natural, then you're sadly mistaken.

@CurdinHenry I think your psychiatrist would be interested in knowing why your self esteem is so low that you want to do this

You do if you have to try and lipread them.

Just try looking for the shape and movement that indicates the difference between p, b and m.

So why would you want them filled if that's the case? Have you got an after picture?
