Whoever you are voting for today, it's probably not Labour - they might loose 2,000 seats.

How long exactly will it be before he resigns?

Apologies - I meant this bit - "the country is nearly at the point where the bond market will call in the money & we lurch into a financial meltdown."

Apologies, I meant that ALL of this is bullshit, not just that bit.

This. I hate Starmer (have done for years) and I hate Labour but he is better than any of the other treacherous halfwits that could follow him. Hope he stays in until Labour get kicked out completely 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

How long have you hated Starmer for? How many years?

TheLandlordsAreFrowning · 07/05/2026 11:58

RedRiverShore6 · 07/05/2026 11:16

There isn't really anyone to replace him at the moment, Burnham needs a lot of time, my personal choice is Wes Streeting but I'm not sure he's that popular with the party, he also seems to have not got the memo that he is supposed to wear rolled up shirt sleeves and no tie.

Streeting is dodgy as fuck. There are many tweets that could come back to haunt him. Then there is the pet shop thing, which I think is probably untrue, but that makes no difference to the media these days.

Bloozie · 07/05/2026 11:58

The last thing this country needs is ANOTHER prime minister, or ANOTHER government.

I do not like Starmer, at all.

But we need some consistency and stability, to create an environment that businesses can commit to invest in.

It's not like a football club. We can't keeping sacking the manager if he doesn't win the last 3 games.

I despair of people's brainpower.

Still more of these threads pushing the idea of PM change and an early general election? Beats talking about Farage's £5 million bung I guess. Election will be 2029 and we'll see who looks best placed to run the country then.

Keir Starmer shows many qualities of effective leadership, particularly moral purpose and long-term thinking. (Unlike NF)
Leadership and change-management theory suggest that the first leader during a period of change often faces the hardest decisions, balancing quick wins with long-term reform.

People naturally resist change, but he has made a strong start in rebuilding stability and trust.
If there were a future change of Prime Minister, he would likely put country before personal ambition.
The next Labour leader will ultimately benefit from the difficult groundwork already having been done.

And, of course, like all leadership role, working with the public, ‘you can’t please everyone, all of the time’. All you can do is use facts and evidence to direct change and show positive impact, taking decisions using your experience and knowledge.

BambooLampshade · 07/05/2026 11:58

No, he won't resign.

Labour haven't done well in Scotland for a while now. So no "loss" there.

Plaid have been on the cards to do better in Wales for a while, but the Greens might take vote share from them. No reason to resign, either way.

Local elections - there will be a bit of fuss as the Greens and Reforms win some seats, but I don't think it will be terminal.

Maybe a leadership bid is launched, but the 'big guns' are circling each other, waiting to see who goes first. And Burnham still needs to become an actual MP to join in.

It’s fact, not opinion.

HMRC call up and tell you, did they?

Fact, lol.

Bookfishtea · 07/05/2026 11:07

I have voted Labour because I voted for local issues and Labour have a good grasp (and track record) of local issues.
I think he will be out, dont particularly like him but dont think we should be having so many different prime ministers. I hope whoever replaces him (if thats what happens) is in quickly and sits up and listens to the voters in order to reduce the likelihood of a reform government/hung parliament next time.

But that means they will have to take on the policies of Reform surely?

ChaseTheSin · 07/05/2026 12:00

OneTealShaker · 07/05/2026 11:05

He’ll cling on like a bad smell. he won’t be going anywhere. But that could be a good thing because it saves us from Angela Rayner. Imagine that.

This government is even worse than the last one. People love to say ‘oh but Liz Truss’. Our cost of borrowing is higher now than under Liz Truss.

The choice now is between Starmer and Rayner. Thos country is finished. Unless there is a general election very quickly and these clowns ade voted out altogether.

Who would you pick to replace them?

BambooLampshade · 07/05/2026 12:00

Also, Starmer only needs to sit back and watch the Greens and Reform mess up the councils they take charge of. And for them both to come under further scrutiny.

youalright · 07/05/2026 12:00

Not even got a vote in my area

Don't believe either you or @PeachOctopus gave a rationale for why they would 'call in the money' in the first place when you made and then agreed with the initial point. So you first!

Yes, and this is part of why it makes sense to wait till 2029 for the next GE

nomas · 07/05/2026 12:04

He’s not going, OP.

This is like the eleventy billionth ‘KS is going on Monday’ thread over the past year.

Meadowfinch · 07/05/2026 11:36

Wes Streeting would be a much better choice than Angela Rayner.

Has she paid the extra £40,000 stamp duty yet?

She referred herself to get a final answer on what is a very complex situation. No one made her. It is not yet clear she owes any money at all.

Jane143 · 07/05/2026 12:06

As long as it’s not Reform, bunch of racists

PenelopePinkerton · 07/05/2026 12:06

Motnight · 07/05/2026 11:04

I am voting Labour. Feel politically homeless at the moment with Labour the best of a bad bunch.

Starmer seems to me intent on staying.

(My post may age very badly very quickly!)

I’m a lifelong Labour supporter but I just cannot vote for them again. At a local level, they are awful for our town. I voting green as I can’t vote reform or cons either!

BambooLampshade · 07/05/2026 12:07

I also don't hold out much hope for the Polanski/Ali nexus, once they all have to actually start doing stuff.
The liberal Jew running the party with the strict Moslem were always just a political construct. I don't think it will last.

Starmer just needs to sit back and watch it all happen. Streeting and Rayner may think they have the numbers, but that's notoriously difficult to rely on when the whips come calling.

Here are some examples of a general election being called early in the UK due to a change in prime minister or policy change:

1923: Stanley Baldwin
* Baldwin had only recently become Prime Minister after Bonar Law resigned.
* He inherited a Conservative majority, but had not personally led the party at a general election.
* He called an early election to seek a mandate for tariff reform/protectionism, a major policy shift.
* Result: he lost his majority.

  • 1931: Ramsay MacDonald

    • MacDonald had been Labour Prime Minister, but the Labour government split during the financial crisis.
    • He then formed a National Government with Conservatives and Liberals.
    • This was effectively a new government with a new political basis, so an election was called to seek public approval.
    • Result: the National Government won a landslide.
  • 1951: Clement Attlee

    • Labour had won the 1950 election, but with a tiny majority.
    • Attlee’s government was struggling to function properly in Parliament.
    • He called another election to try to win a clearer working mandate.
    • Result: Labour won more votes, but the Conservatives won more seats and Churchill returned.
  • 1966: Harold Wilson

    • Wilson had become Prime Minister after Labour narrowly won in 1964 with a majority of only 4.
    • He called an early election to get a stronger mandate and make governing easier.
    • Result: Labour won a much larger majority.
  • October 1974: Harold Wilson

    • The February 1974 election had produced a hung parliament.
    • Wilson formed a minority Labour government.
    • He called another election eight months later because he lacked a proper parliamentary mandate.
    • Result: Labour won a small majority.
  • 2017: Theresa May

    • May became Prime Minister after David Cameron resigned following the Brexit referendum.
    • She had not personally led the Conservatives at a general election.
    • She called an early election saying she needed a stronger mandate for Brexit negotiations.
    • Result: she lost her majority and had to rely on the DUP.
  • 2019: Boris Johnson

    • Johnson became Prime Minister after Theresa May resigned.
    • He had not personally led the Conservatives at a general election.
    • His government had no reliable majority and Parliament was deadlocked over Brexit.
    • He pushed for an election to get a mandate to “get Brexit done.”
    • Result: he won a large majority.

Thanks, can you write this in a more academic style and put quotes in?

nam3c4ang3 · 07/05/2026 12:07

Nah he won’t go - he’s insane and will cling on. Mind you - AR is even worse (if that’s even possible!) so perhaps a good thing KS is an idiot who won’t let go… but you know, as per all the Labour voters were saying ages ago… give Labour a chance… they’ll be better… they’re goooood… 😂

These type of threads have been posted almost from day one. IMS was supposed to bail UK out before Easter. Reeves was supposed to go the Monday after the last budget etc.

Starmer will probably go, but not for a few months yet. And certainly not tomorrow or Monday. That is batshit thinking.

Northermcharn · 07/05/2026 12:08

Nah. He's doing a great job of being a place filler atm. Possibly all he Is good at.

Can you explain the similarities between Starmer and Hitler?
