If they allow the cruise ship to dock snd passangers travel all over the world.
Symptoms may not show for up to 8 weeks.

I wonder how long it'll take for NannyAndJohn to pop up?

There's a throwback/niche MN reference for you 😂

😂

Wait for it, there’ll be threads soon shouting for masks and lockdown.

When the word “uptick” is mentioned, we’ve all had it.

Or when people prefix assertions with "sadly".

ha noticed that.

Do you think they have left the house yet?
who was the one that was living apart in a normal house away from her family?

I’m in a country that didn’t lock down. Our epidemiologist knew what he was doing.

UK fucked up completely, as your politicians make all the decisions instead of experts.

Completely agree with you. They’re all idiots

Because as far as I’m aware those cases are not confirmed (the flight attendant is one, I’m not sure of the other one?).

Plus, the flight attendant was on the plane with the woman too ill to travel, and who had respiratory and gastrointestinal symptoms, so who knows what sort of contact they had eg did she cough directly into her face, was she sick on/near her, did the flight attendant have to clean up vomit? If so, that wouldn’t really contradict anything that is said about how it is spread through close contact, bodily fluids etc.

The flight attendant has now tested negative on two tests.

I've got my lighters, my emergency civilian MRE rations, some distilled water and penicillin.

Also got some snakes in case our garden is infiltrated.

Can't be too careful.

True. But they say "Tener-eef" rather than the Spanish pronounciation which would be "tener-ee-fay".

Questions, questions.

Here in Yorkshire lots of people pronounce it tene-reefie which always makes me laugh a little.

It isn’t the new Covid OP, chill.

Fancythis · 08/05/2026 06:30

There’s already someone on another thread who thinks their household has had hantavirus this past 10 days because they’ve had all the symptoms. 🤣

WillowTit · 08/05/2026 06:44

two british people have come home already and are NOW isolating
how would you feel if it transpired you shared a flight with them
they keep saying it is NOT the new covid, which seems to be adding flame to the fire

WillowTit · 08/05/2026 06:57

it can be spread by close contact, ie on a plane journey

GarlicMind · 08/05/2026 07:31

As I'm feeling ghoulish today, I may as well share that I'm less scared of being killed by the Andes virus than by Covid 😂 Reason? If it kills you, it apparently does it really quickly the day after breathing difficulties set in. If you manage to get to hospital in time, treatment is much the same as for severe Covid - intubation, ventilator, etc. It's the extended illness that terrifies me about Covid. Getting knocked off within a couple of days of first symptoms would be very inconvenient for everyone else, but I'd neither know nor care!

OK, let's all go back to assuring ourselves it's just a mildly concerning anomaly ...

Oh, and if you do recover from it - current evidence suggests you're then immune for life, so that's also better than bastard C19.

To all the mocking replies...there must be a reason the Spanish gov have been blocking the ship docking in mainland Spain. There is obviously some concern on their part.

Mainland Spain is almost 1000 miles further north and east. On a cruise that would be about 2 days.

How would I feel if I was on a flight two weeks ago with people who are still not showing any symptoms?
I’d feel fine about that.

I saw this posted on another site earlier, it makes an interesting read.

I am telling you now they'll be 100,000 deaths next week, they're already BAKED IN.

Ps: promise I'm not N&J, I just really remember their catchphrase!

it can take 6 or 8 weeks

I am not concerned but it does need to be taken seriously given this strain can be transmitted person to person.

Leaving that aside, it does show yet again that cruises are a really bad idea!!

Might be able to bag a cheap cruise bargain if plenty people follow your thinking. Thanks! Keep
spreading the word!

Yes I know. But you aren’t contagious 2+ weeks before showing symptoms. So I wouldn’t be worried that I flew with them 2 weeks ago and they are still totally fine.

NeedAnyHelpWithThatPaperBag · 08/05/2026 20:47

YANBU as nothing would surprise me nowadays and it has conspiracy theory style slow motion catastrophe written all over it...

Nightclubs and pubs will never reopen, don't you know. And say goodbye to everyone going on holiday again!

PocketSand · 11/05/2026 15:39

@SeekingHappinesss thanks for your posts. It is worrying that human to human transmission is a feature of this strain and that there is r=2+ with minimal contact in the infectious stage but reassuring that the transmission window is small and isolation measures reduce this.

This explains the transmission and measures that have been put in place without scaremongering. The virus may have a high degree of mortality but does not put you on your back immediately and you may feel well enough to socialise whilst in the early stages when you are running a fever and have the potential to be a superspreader infecting multiple people. The good news is that infection is self limiting and identification and disease spread protocols are very effective.
