Good job the next general election isn't for three years. (Presuming that when Labour jettison Starmer they don't replace him with a loon who will frogmarch us to bankruptcy)

It is. If it was soon, Farage would likely win the most seats and Badenoch would have to make some very difficult decisions.

I am off to do my civic duty.🤞my vote helps keep the racists out.

according to you, what is there to be commended that Labour have done?

6 cuts in interest rates
Deal with France to return small boat migrants.
5 million more nhs appointments
Brought in investment from China
Tackled fuel poverty
Dealt effectively with trump over tarifs and the Iran fiasco.

Labour had a hard task ahead of them in the aftermath of the Brexit debacle an covid. The economy is actually showing some signs of recovery now. The performance of FTSE 100 is evidence for this.

It probably won’t, help that is. Bit late for Labour lines now.

You might want to rejoice at the rise of the corrupt, racist Reform, I don't.

A false premise.

But for context, your comments on Polanski and the Greens, please.

Yet again dismissing the hate crime suffered by the Muslim community- 45% of all hate crime!!It beggars belief and says a lot about those who belittle it.

I'm not Jewish.

I have absolutely zero concerns that I, or a loved one, may be a victim of a Jewish terrorist attack here in the UK.

There is, of course, a real risk to me and mine of harm by Muslim extremism . A sizeable risk given the number of attacks in recent years.

I have Muslim, Sikh and Hindu neighbours. I am the ethnic minority in our street. They are all lovely people as individuals.

But I don't trust Islam, I fear it and I'd like to stop the rise in the % of the UK population being Muslim.

I'll be voting Conservative.

Monetary policy is about to start tightening - do you want to take credit for IR hikes?
How many illegal migrants have been returned?
Chinese investment - numbers please. And thanks to comment on Starmer greenlighting their embassy.
Fuel poverty? How has he tackled it?
Iran was a function of Starmer’s weakness more than anything deliberate.

I can't believe that anyone would highlight the return deal with France as a success. It's an expensive way to achieve fuck all.

You do have a very inflated sense of your own importance.😂

Right. I really must go and vote now.

Wellll Labour share policies and then completely ignore them and do the opposite of what they promised so swings and roundabouts.

Oh you silly billy. On the contrary. Some of the tax we pay in England goes straight to benefit Scotland. We should have a say in whether we want our taxes spent on Scotland or not.

Funny how none of the English-based parties are shouting for that… 🤔 you should contact your MP to demand a referendum.

It's not a thing I'm that interested in tbh. I was just saying what would be fair, given someone had commented on it.

I am very impressed by her. And I hated the Bullingdon Tories. She is slowly growing in stature, gaining ground, earning respect, winning people over, making the best of her underdog status.

If she keeps this way, she can make the Conservatives an essential part of whatever is gonna happen at the next GE, or better. She has a lot of potential and I think she would do a great job as a PM to get us out of the state we re in.

Next government will have to bring massive changes, fix a lot of messes, find a new way forward for Britain, reconcile people even. And I think a black woman coming from immigration, with real life experience, a no bs approach to things, talking her mind straight and clear, determined enough to make these happen, could re-galvanise this country.

And put a glorious end to the incorrect tropes of the left that your identity matters more than your actions (which is why they cannot see or respect her agency and abilities), and that all people coming from immigration should be inherently progressive or left-leaning (and she doesn’t fit that expectation, which angers them, hence a viciousness especially aimed at her as shown on these threads … because of her skin colour, textbook racism)

I don’t know how today’s elections will play up, I suppose a bit like the current vibe, not going to win, but it won’t be that bad either.

The Greens may do ok today but that won’t last on a national level until the next GE. They maxed out their appeal already. The core leftie brigade is already won over, the Muslim vote too, hence the big noise and some electoral results, putting Labour on its knees, but i don’t think they re going to convince many new ppl outside these demographics. It’s gonna go downhill for them and rightfully so.

As a net total, how many migrants gave been returned?

I wouldnt be 100% convinced about that appt figure. Labour also have a lovely way of massaging nhs figures. I had just started work for the nhs when Labour were last in power, and I remember the way we had to adjust reporting figures or be fined, discharge outpatients before ready to make wait lists look shorter, cut appointment times to increase apparent number - for example a 40 min appt had to go down as 4 x 10 min appointments.

Now we are back to the quick discharge and re referral system to cut apparent wait lists, let's see how many more of the above we are implementing before this Parliament is over?

Tackled fuel poverty? When we are all paying high amounts for petrol, which they could counteract by cutting tax on fuel but they don't.

You have obviously forgotten the revenue from oil and gas that was drained from the Scottish economy to bail out England over many years. The "economic miracle" that Margaret Thatcher claimed credit for was the outcome.

BIossomtoes · 07/05/2026 10:37

The economic miracle that was spaffed away on tax cuts instead of investing in the country. I look at Norway and weep.
