People can hardly think of one good thing about Starmer it seems...

There are actually quite a few in that word cloud.

Upstartled · 06/06/2026 10:33

With much smaller writing because they were words seen less often, weak and useless lead that charge and that seems right to me. How about you @Blossomtoes ?

BIossomtoes · 06/06/2026 10:34

How about me?

BIossomtoes · 06/06/2026 10:34

Yes, do you think that weak and useless are his leading attributes?

BIossomtoes · 06/06/2026 10:35

Obviously not.

Upstartled · 06/06/2026 10:39

It's not obvious to me @Blossomtoes. What do you think he's doing well?

So you think statutory maternity pay is excessive then, dont think the evidenced violence against girls in schools is happening, dont believe in multicultural societies, think autism is a mental health condition🤣 and autistic people have unfair societal benefits, that partygate was overblown….

So you think statutory maternity pay is excessive then

No and nor does Kemi as she has clarified many times after a tricky interview where her actual point, (which was about excessive regulation for small businesses) was obscured by an interviewer keen for a story. The desperation with which so many people twist and misrepresent her words is telling.

dont believe in multicultural societies

Try listening to what she actually said about multicultural vs multiracial societies and the conflicts inherent in mixing incompatible cultures, vs multiple races sharing a culture and making a far more coherent society. You might learn something.

You don’t like her, that much is clear, but at least be honest about why, it can’t be about her views because you don’t understand them.

LuckyHazelFox · 06/06/2026 10:44

She's fantastic, a strong, articulate black woman, who wipes the floor with Starmer. She's worked hard and has been patient in building her popularity. I admire her mainly for her balanced thinking which will appeal to the centrist. Let's hope she can turn around the party before the next GE. THAT is what a leader looks like. Come on Kemi.

KTheGrey · 06/06/2026 10:47

ilovesooty · 06/05/2026 21:50

As I said before I'd like the party to provide credible opposition. She's not the sort of politician I want to see leading it.

Not the sort? What an utterly namby pamby non-thing to say. I thought NQOCD was dead.

If what you mean is unsayable it makes me think it’s really bad; please make your arguments explicit.

You’ve argued with enough of my posts to know exactly what I think.

No wonder Labour voters are regressive. Probably explains why Labour won't champion female leaders.

Yep to both posts. Yours and @KTheGrey

Its a good sign that Labour supporters are so rattled by her.
She's obviously doing something right.

Actually no, we often disagree about politics, which is unsurprisingly, as I'm conservative leaning and you are labour leaning. So yes, we won't agree on policy. But I was asking about what you like about Starmer, as a person or a politician?

Desperatelyseekinglazysusan · 06/06/2026 10:59

I also don't like the way she will always attack the Govt, never ever looks at any cross party agreement.
I mean she's leader of the opposition. It's more concerning that the Labour Party has spent most of the last 2 years deciding that the best opposition to the Labour government is the Labour Party. Starmer is weak and indecisive and is about to be toppled because he has been unable to lead his his own party and stop his own backbenchers from undermining him at every turn. Burnham will have the same problem. As someone who has almost always voted Labour ( but won't again) they have demonstrated that they are incapable as a party of being a party of government. Blair did it because he could lead. Any Labour leader will have a doubly hard job because too many Labour members and MPs would rather be in opposition than being in government with a leader who is not absolutely ideologically aligned with them in every way.

For me, her stance on policing and anti-semitism is what this country should lead with. Both topics, she delivered with calm, detailed clarity. She will make things happen not watch what will happen. Starmer is as divisive as Farage. Kemi is a proactive challenger. She's going to come out of the GE as a winner whether as leader or coalition, imo. Would love to see a con Reform coalition with Farage handing the batton to Badenoch.

You weren’t. You were being provocative and I’m not in the mood for indulging you.

Tell me you read the Daily Mail without telling me you read the Daily Mail...

Oh do move on from that worn out trope.

Upstartled · 06/06/2026 11:02

Right, sorry for provocatively asking why you like the leader of your preferred party...I'll try and keep the inflammatory comments down 🤷🏼‍♀️

You wouldn’t need to read the Mail. All you need do is have a look at KB in sessions with Kate Osbourne when the latter claimed she’d disparaged transpeople and then could not produce the quote. KB does not accept unfounded accusations and so far she has not been caught doing anything shady.

I thought that Keir’s Labour would be anti-grift but Ange thinks she should not pay tax (or that she should not employ a tax consultant which is madness if you have a public role) plus Rachel’s farming inheritance tax raids, Tulip’s little embarrassments, Apsana with her £94k income living in a council flat instead of returning it to the list for somebody who needs it … they are a shower of shamefulness really.

Agree. Her stance on both points you highlight has been excellent. Her response to the anti semitic heckler was superb.
I don't fancy a con/ref coalition, although if needs must. Hopefully 3 years will be enough for most people to realise that Kemi is the only viable choice for the next PM.

I couldn't get past that poster's first statement for second hand embarrassment.

And Haigh's mobile phone fraud side hustle. Worth remembering as Burnham fans are hoping for her to take the role of Chancellor of the Exchequer. I'd be amazed if a bank would allow her to be a cashier with that record but Chancellor...they are all for it.

She tied Osbourne up in knots over that. She won't be standing for malignant characterisations. She can robustly represent her corner and every woman should admire her for that. What I don't like is her skin colour being used to cause division. She can fight on her own merits.
