I like the way Kemi has stood up for the Jewish community and called out the antisemitic behaviour on the Pro Palestinian marchers .

Agreed

Good to see finally thousands gathering for a protest against antisemitism, in London yesterday. About time.

Yet when in Govt, she did nothing to limit the pro Palestinian marches.

Antisemitic hate crimes have escalated since then though - all serious politicians are starting to realise it’s time to take a stand against the marches as they appear to be flaming anti Jewish sentiment in the UK.

Upstartled · 11/05/2026 22:16

She regularly criticised the met for their policing of these marches and she supported the government's move to redefine extremism to bar the groups mobilising these protests. And she criticised the BBC for their framing of the marches and how it was fuelling antisemitism. It's not like she was home secretary, there was a limit to what she could achieve in her government roles.

She was Secretary of State for International Trade then Minister for Women and Equalities.

What did you expect her to do?

OpheliaWasntMad · 05/06/2026 23:12

Yes - I think Kemi is brilliant. Head and shoulders above the rest.

Yes.. I hope she will get better and better as the next 3 years drag on painfully, with this shit show in power.

https://www.kemibadenoch.org.uk/news/kemi-badenoch-mp-why-are-they-not-kneeling-now-poor-henry-nowak

'I remember watching Keir Starmer and Angela Rayner take the knee in what is now my office and asking myself: 'What on earth are you doing? Kneeling for an incident that occurred in another country about which you know little?'
Why are they not kneeling now for Henry Nowak?

Starmer and Rayner were not the only ones. The BLM movement exploited the naivety of many foolish politicians, businesses and public institutions who rushed to claim that racism in this country was comparable to what was happening in America.

I showed them the evidence that the police are not – certainly not any more – 'institutionally racist' in Britain. As a junior minister in 2021, I published a government report that proved exactly that. In response, I was called all sorts of names.

One Labour MP shared a post calling me 'white supremacy in blackface'. I didn't care, because I know that once you start giving allowances to ethnic minorities on the basis of 'anti-racism', there will be a backlash that will only fracture the country further.

Notions of 'white privilege' and forcing 'decolonisation' narratives down the throats of children is not how we build a cohesive society.
>>
We also need to stop the idea that racism is something that happens only to ethnic minorities, perpetrated by white people. This seems to have been the belief of officers in the terrible case of Henry Nowak.

Public bodies must understand that anyone can be a victim of racism.
They should also acknowledge that an accusation of 'racism' alone is not evidence and certainly isn't a bigger crime than violence or murder.

These are the principles that the Conservative Party believes in: universalism, equality under the law, not treating people differently based on skin colour, and making sure that we always build faith and trust in our institutions – rather than trying to destroy them.'

Ooh think this might be the thread for me.
I've always liked Kemi since she stood up for women in the trans debate, but I am warming to her more and more now.
I saw her on Pearce Morgan uncensored recently and that has cemented if for me, I will most likely be voting conservative in the next GE for the first time ever.

WaffleBomb · 06/06/2026 09:16

Kemi has been fantastic this week. A PM in waiting.

She's really refreshingly different to all the others, so firm in what she believes, forthright and unapologetic.
She comes across as very honest and I don't believe she just says what she thinks other people want to hear.....unlike Kier who I think only does that. He's such a snake in comparison, no integrity.

CornishDaughteroftheDawn · 10/05/2026 09:31

Yes, she has strong moral principles which Labour and the Greens are lacking.

I think with time she will attract other sane, democracy upholding, high quality colleagues to reinvigorate the Conservatives.

It’s interesting how angry the ‘anti Kemi’s’ in this thread are and how little they have as actual criticism of her.

She is an ableist, ill informed politician with deeply unpleasant views who consistently tries to whip up hate. Her anti women views citing statutory maternity pay as excessive and inaccurate claims re violence against women are concerning. Her ableist, inaccurate and ignorant comments re the autistic community were appalling and also deeply concerning. She has been accused of bullying and traumatising staff and just says what she thinks her far right supporters want to hear with little thought ie Faragelite. I think that’s plenty of pretty weight criticism don’t you. I just wish her PR office would shuffle off and stop trying to create support for her on here with the same old tedious threads.

It's funny, DH and I were talking about her last night because I want him to watch her PM Uncensored interview and I realised it's the first time I've ever felt really enthused about any party leader since I reached voting age.... which is a sad state of affairs because I'm 48 😆.
Also, I think it would be better for Kier to hold on so the GE doesn't come too quickly. I don't want Reform to get in and I think Kemi needs time to win people round, but I think she can do it.

I haven't seen that interview, but will look for it. She is head and shoulders above all other party leaders, as proved this week.

The Guardian is not a news source that can be taken seriously these days. I'm unsurprised they don't like her though.
Interesting you say @Caro7457 that she just says what people want to hear.....I think the total opposite. She often says things that all the others are too afraid to say, which is one of the reasons I like her so much.

itsnotallaboutyouyousee · 06/06/2026 09:35

@Caro7457 ' [Kemi] says what she thinks her far right supporters want to hear with little thought ie Faragelite.'

Oh. dear. Caro. I was half thinking I might take some of your comments seriously then it came to this bit and well, any possible credibility was lost.

PS. Perhaps read some history about what 'far right' means. It'll be beneficial for you I promise.
