Immigration Detention Centres in Green Constituencies

Reform”s policy of Immigration detention centres in Green constituencies.

Regardless of your political persuasion, this just demonstrates the dismal state of British politics.

What happened to the governing party governing in the interests of everyone, regardless of who they voted for? And what about Reform voters in Green consistencies?

Fucking awful, the lot of them.

Using threats to grab votes is not a good look for grifter Farage.

Yes it’s not lost on me that the people who actually live there don’t like it.

Actually live where?

In immigration detention centres? No, people don't like living there.

OneTealShaker · 05/05/2026 20:04

Sorry but this pretend outrage won’t work. If you vote green and want mass immigration, what is your problem with having detention centres in the area you live?

Or do you not mind mass immigration as long as it’s not in your backyard?

New Labour was trying to help the feckless be better parents etc by ploughing money into health and education and it was the more deprived, Labour voting areas that had issues with this. It was very successful.

I do know loans of Green voters living in leafy areas who never have to worry about a detention centre of young men hanging around leering at their daughters. Why shouldn’t they have lots migrants in their areas if they are so pro migrant. In fact we could save money on the detention centres and ask Green Party members to host them instead.

Detention centres don’t have men leering at anyone because you can’t get out of a detention centre. IRCs are secure, prison-like, and designed to stop people escaping.

Young men in immigration detention centers are not hanging on street corners. They are not free to leave the centre.

At least understand the basics of what you are saying.

I imagine green voters don’t want detention centres anywhere. They aren’t being hypocritical by not wanting them in their area, because they also don’t want them in anyone else’s.

Reform voters are clearly viewed as hypocritical by the party, because they are the ones who want detention centres, but want them somewhere else.

I'm fine with having immigrants as my neighbours. Most of my block are immigrants.

I'm not fine with a political party threatening to build an immigration detention centre here as a way of threatening people to vote for them/not to vote green.

People who are happy with mass immigration want a functioning immigration system that wouldn't necessitate building more immigration detention centres.

My boss is far left and lives in a very affulent area and they do not have migrants hanging about where he lives.

He is far too liberal and accommodating to the masses flooding into the country. Has no idea because it doesnt affect him. Same with those in power, they have no idea.

Its only right that Green areas get what they vote for.

When you say migrants, do you mean illegal immigrants, asylum seekers or immigrants who have come to this country legally?

AbundantFlowers · 05/05/2026 20:10

And it keeps Farage's £5m donation out of the news

Yeah it's all very Trumpian isn't it?

Make lots of noisy unpalatable statements to wear people out so they can't focus on what youre actually up to.

Farage is a conniving little cunt if ever ive seen one.

Exactly. I think Polanski is a complete twat and wouldn’t ever vote for him or his party. But it’s just thick to suggest that being pro immigration must mean that you have no problem with detention centres.

Absolutely. It’s so pathetically transparent. I can’t believe anyone could fall for it.

ElenOfTheWays · 05/05/2026 20:28

So... does he think he's Prime Minister already? Or that he's definitely going to be in 2029? The arrogant sod!

Perhaps he thinks these local elections are the same as a GE?

In any case, this doesn't surprise me. I've always been clear in my mind who and what Farage is. Hopefully more people wil now see it too.

Christmastimemisteloeandwine · 05/05/2026 20:30

I’m still a bit mystified about how young men in a Reform run detention centre are going to be hanging around the streets leering at young women. Aren’t they detained?

I think it's just to try to shock people to not vote Green in the local elections.

They won't actually be able to build these detention centres but it keeps Reform relevant.

Yeah, I mean, that ain’t gonna be why I don’t vote Green.
They’re both massively racist based parties, they just approach it from different angles .

Dexternight · 05/05/2026 20:36

Why does Zia Yusuf from Reform not use his first name 🤔 mohammed?
He knows why.

Because his faithful followers won't like it one bit.

Oh joy. My post has been deleted because I asked if a pp was hard of thinking.

It's weird how MNHQ often allow the most outrageous content to stand while mildly pointing out that truly idiotic posts are a bit stupid apparently isn't allowed.

This makes no sense. Are you confusing temporary housing with detention centres?

Again, there's no reason for anyone not to want an IDC in their area (other than that they're big, fairly ugly buildings). The detainees are locked up. No-one local will ever see one.

Much as it pains me to defend a Reform idiot, virtually all first born sons of Muslim parents are traditionally named Mohamed, but most of them are known by their middle name. He may never have been actually called Mohammed.

What makes you think Green voters (for clarity - I'm not one of them) want detention centres? I thought it was Reform voters that wanted to carry out more deportations?

But beyond that - a potential PM is meant to act as PM for the whole country - not to act only for those constituencies that vote for him, and punish those who do not. It's just a further illustration that Farage does not have the character for the role.
