How many eggs for an omelette?

I use 2 but I've just seen someone make an omelette for themselves, 1 person, with 6 😶

How many do you use?

Two for me. With mushrooms/onions/peppers in it. And I usually have salad with it too. Or maybe a round or two of toast. I rarely eat an omelette on its own. Two eggs also for DP and DS1. DS2 doesn’t eat omelettes. Weirdo.

One egg serves a family of 7 with a cherry tomato and a mushroom each.

Bit greedy that would last us a week.

AgnesX · 05/05/2026 17:52

I use 6 for 2 of us... DH gets two thirds. He's capable and has used all 6 for himself!

Sgtmajormummy · 05/05/2026 17:54

4 eggs for 3 people but I make mine with courgettes and/or potatoes as well as cheese.

foodyum · 05/05/2026 17:56

For me - none as although I love eggs in many forms I really can't stand omelette. For DS (14 months) I'd do 2 as his appetite is enormous, DD (4) probably also 2 but she'd leave some. For DH 2 or 3 depending on the egg situation at the time.

theworldisadarkplace · 05/05/2026 17:56

2 for me.

DinoLil · 05/05/2026 18:38

I have an omelette cooker thingy so only use one egg because I need space for fillings!

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 05/05/2026 19:18

2

Purplewarrior · 05/05/2026 19:22

3

Favouritefruits · 05/05/2026 19:22

I used to use two eggs but the eggs seem to have gotten a lot smaller so now I use three!

Duckswaddle · 05/05/2026 19:23

Three, obviously 🍳

Error404FucksNotFound · 05/05/2026 19:23

3 plus cheese, ham, etc makes a decent lunch.

Onefairfish · 05/05/2026 19:25

2 for me, 3 for husband, always with cheese.

I know we're so greedy!
Should see us eat one of those family size chocolate bars only lasted us one year. Gluttens

Hollowvoice · 05/05/2026 19:32

Omelette is the only form of eggs I never make for some reason...
But if I did I'd use 2-3 eggs depending on the size and whatever else I was adding. Same as a scramble.

OtherS · 05/05/2026 19:38

Two. Don't love omelettes though really, I'm pretty bored of eating it by the time I'm halfway. Enough for light dinner though, with ham or mushroom.

Edited as apparently 2. turns into a bullet point, no matter how many times you tell it not to.

bugalugs45 · 05/05/2026 19:41

3 for an omelette , but i have an abundance of eggs at the moment ( friend has chickens ) and am currently using eggs over a month old , last night I made scrambled eggs for the foxes that comes to visit my garden with 6 eggs as I had 18 in the fridge still when I was given some more 🤣

ItsJustMeMyself · 05/05/2026 19:42

4-6 for me and 6-8 for DH

Freemont · 05/05/2026 19:42

Three

jen337 · 05/05/2026 19:45

2 is the correct number. If you want 3 then make another one and eat half.

SkinnyOatFlatWhiteForMePlease · 05/05/2026 19:45

3 medium eggs with 130g of ham made with a little butter - filling, under 400 calories and 38g of protein.

Haribitch · 05/05/2026 19:47

Either 1 or 2 depending on if you’re having other stuff with the omelette.

6 is ridiculous.

SparrowFeet · 05/05/2026 19:50

3, with loads of fillings. I have been known to have four. Six is excessive unless you're Gaston.

Squirrelchops1 · 05/05/2026 19:50

2

How many boiled eggs would you eat in one sitting?

Sadcafe · 05/05/2026 19:50

Always three, six, good grief, how big is that omelette
