This is very serious and I agree. To be fair on Kemi, Farage was also gung-ho about Iran. He just backtracked quickly. Kemi sees this as being decisive. It is not decisive to meekly follow Trump. She messed up big time on this.

And as she’s the party leader of no policies expect to see her mess up big time even more as she goes forward outlining her policies. She clearly isn’t big on research going by the autism debacle and Iran. You kind of want a leader who bothers to do a bit of research before speaking and making decisions. 😳

She absolutely didn't do this. She described the experience of being a middle-class child in Nigeria which involved experiencing and/or witnessing hardships and difficulties that many of us in the UK would struggle with. Why not have a read? You might find her experiences interesting.

I’m pretty sure many in the uk have experienced far more hardships than the child of a doctor and professor working for the elite in Nigeria.

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 05/05/2026 17:27

Working for the elite?

Grin

How very dare they….

Working as well! The bastards.

Absolutely nothing wrong with any of that. Unless you’re trying to play poverty/working class Top Trumps. And have unwisely played your “lived in Africa” card.

For the sake of balance, let’s have your comments on Polanski.

abolish prisions, grow bigger breasts, men are women, women who dont agree "Men are women" are hateful bigots, WTF is the environment, heroin, ketamine, meth and Sharia Law for all Polanski?

What do you mean by 'lived in Africa card?

Agree

Isn't that moniker in response to her approach to and statements on immigration? She is either an economic migrant herself or her mother exploited a loophole to come expressly to give birth in the UK. Which behaviours she claims to stand against.

Kemi Badenoch's identity being Yoruba not Nigerian and her view about the country having underachieved is one I can have some sympathy and perhaps agreement about.

Although I disagree with her politics and never vote Tory, I'd be ok with her as a neighbour instead of the alternative the Tories had, Robert Jenrick.

what is the point of a comment like this?

Race to the bottom? Should we only be considering MP's & PM's from the poorest most oppressed groups now to make sure they are properly deserving of living in #10?

How odd.

Perspective versus Kemi’s ‘transgressions’.

Labour’s errors and omissions are meanwhile on an altogether different level - which is why they are going be punished severely on Thursday.

Yeears ago I wrote to my Tory MP about the gender bollocks,he raised my issues with Kemi & she wrote a personal reply to me as Women & Equalities Minister.

She is the only party leader coming anywhere near to impressing me & I am happy to see her popularity rising.

I've never voted Conservative before but I couldnt bring myself to vote for any of the other lot right now. Lets see how things progress.

She didn’t, they don’t see their correspondence. It was written by a civil servant.

1 in 3 kids live in poverty in the UK - what's she going to do about that. The Scottish govt give a child payment of just under 29 pounds a week per child for people on low incomes and it's rising to 40 pounds in 27/28

I really don't care about personality politics. I care about what a Government is going to do for people who are struggling (and I'm not an SNP fangirl either). Plenty of policies I don't agree with

I don't agree with MPs getting subsidised food and drink either (not on their salaries) or the expenses that some of them have claimed for

What's Kemi going to do for people who are struggling (not just the unemployed either, people in in work poverty and those struggling across the board)?

I don't care if she talks a good talk. Starmer did (I don't vote Labour). It's walking the walk that counts

Definition of child poverty below. Amounts below are after housing costs.

£530 a week I would say might be "tight" to live on but the word "poverty" loses its meaning in my opinion if we use these kinds of definitions.

How much is 60% of median income?

These are calculations of 60% median income (the poverty line) for 2022/23 for types of families, after housing costs. A child is said to be growing up in poverty if their family income is below this poverty line.

For a family of one adult and one child, 60% of median income, after housing costs in 2022/23 was £255 week
For a family of one adult and two children, £390 week
For a family of two adults and one child, £390 week
For a family of two adults and two children, £530 week

What errors and omissions?

Maybe we should draw up a table of Tory, Reform and Labour errors and omissions and compare.

So a lot of professional live in poverty, if 2K is all what's left after the mortgage is paid?
Why noone is trying to save their children?

The current situation in the Strait of Hormuz could slide back into war. It was a severe transgression of Kemi to want to rush after Trump. Nothing could be more serious.

It’s a proxy ballot on Starmer’s leadership.

this is pretty much where I am at the moment - I think there are so may "politcally homeless" in the same postion.

Yes I'm in the same "politically homeless" camp.

Not keen on any of them but feel I ought to vote.

Definitely won't vote Reform or Green though as both seem racist just to different groups.

LesbianNana · 05/05/2026 18:01

EasternStandard · 05/05/2026 14:55

Kemi isn’t ’wheeled out’ she’s leading a party.

And getting higher ratings than all the other men. As much as that annoys some, especially when slurs are used to denigrate.

No, no…hear me out. I think they have a point.

Never trusting a woman or person of color to be in a position of power obviously PROVES they are not-racist and not-misogynistic.

The party who has/had numerous women and persons of color in positions of power are simply proving how racist and misogynistic they are, grrr. Why do they make it so obvious?! 😝Clear as mud!

Are you trying to be deliberately obtuse. You do understand that there are families who live on a lot less than that and don't have mortgages
