How many people have you slept with?

…and do you lie about it? I’m late 30s, 4 or 5 relationships, most 1-2 years, been married now for 6 years. I’ve slept with around 50 people (I know cos I made a list once!) Only 1 or 2 were ‘true’ one night stands. I know that’s a lot but I refuse to be ashamed of it, I had a lot of fun in my youth. When I was dating before my husband I never admitted it to anyone I was dating. I’d always say less than 10. So how many people have you slept with and do you freely admit it or do you reduce the number a lot if asked by people you’re dating or were dating before if you’re in a relationship? And how do you feel about the number?

2 both became husband's . If anything was to go wrong in my marriage I wouldn't make it a 3 , too old to bother .

8 (I think), met my husband at uni 20 odd years ago. We did have a couple of years apart in our 20's, i think I slept with 3 before I met him and 5 when we were apart. I went traveling and just wasn't into the bed hopping, I was convinced I'd take home some sort of disease, I turned many many a drunken shag down. Funny thing is my husband is the only 1 night stand I've ever had (obviously turned into more), all the others were people I had things with/were boyfriends and I didn't sleep with for at least a few dates, some much longer. There are more people I did "stuff" with but didn't have sex with though 🤣.

I think my number is tiny in today's numbers, there seems to be far more casual dating now than when I was in my 20's, back then dating apps didn't really exist/if they did they had a stigma attached, now everyone is on the apps swiping here there and everywhere!

Depends if you had a sexual experience in bed overnight with, or had intercourse with. First number for me would be 7. Second number would be 4.

You haven’t. If you’re happy with your dh be relieved you didn’t have to wade your way through the poor offerings some (most?) of us have to deal with. I’ve given up completely now, I just can’t find the motivation to have another relationship.

Around 20, simply because I remember counting them when much much younger. Don’t need to lie as it never comes up (I am 53 and no new ones since I was 29). I regret the majority of them, not in a serious way but looking back I wonder what the hell I was thinking. Most were one night stands or short term relationships that I wasn’t even that interested in 🤷‍♀️.

I'm 42. I met DH when I was 21, he was number 7. He's never asked me, but if he did I don't see any reason to lie.

3 - all long term partners. I actually haven't kissed anyone who wasn't one of those three people. However - I don't view this as being a superior or virtuous choice. If anything I sort of wish I'd had a bit more fun and taken a more relaxed view to that type of thing when I was younger.

The first 12 were ONSs over a 6 week span immediately after starting uni. Lucky number 13 then turned out to be my future husband and I've been monogamous in the 20+ years since.

In my defence I was extremely sheltered as a child, no boys had ever showed any interest in me before (also went to an all girls school), and the freedom of university might have gone to my head somewhat.

I was a bit of a late bloomer (thank you Catholic upbringing 🤨). I didn’t tell my first and felt quite proud of the fact he had no idea and I never told him. He would have been quite shocked I think because I had certainly got sick of being the good catholic girl by then 😂

I’m sure it’s not a perfect predictor but I’m inclined to agree with PP that it’s a decent predictor. Having the confidence - especially body confidence - to be sexually free and experimental, and generally having the get-go to pursue what you want in life (even if it’s dick) is most likely correlated with above-average looks in women. My wildest few years coincided with my hottest - I was obsessed with exercise (as I still am) and had my youth. I looked amazing, if I say so myself. 😁 Ageing like a pear now, so nothing lasts forever, kids - get out there and enjoy yourselves. 🥳
