A bowl full of mini pastries

Not so much AIBU because I’m doing it anyway. But it’s a public holiday here in South Africa. My husband has gone for the day doing his sport. The weather has turned grey. I’m sitting on the couch eating a freshly airfryed bowl of mini pastries. Cheese puffs are my favourite, I’m going to leave them until last. Sausage rolls my least favourite. I’m going to eat them first.

Can we have a pic of the snacks. Or a diagram to show their relative positions on the table?

I love those kind of snacks.

I would eat the sausage rolls first, because they are best eaten hot.

BarnacleBeasley · 27/04/2026 12:56

YABU OP - what if you get too full to fully enjoy the cheese puffs? I'm not saying you won't eat them anyway, but it would be annoying to have filled up on sausage rolls and then not be hungry any more. The way round this is to eat one of each, in ascending order of preference so that you still end on a cheese puff, but you get to enjoy some as you go along.

Good point. (Putting down sausage roll and picking up said puff)

Mini chicken pie 😋yum!

icouldholditwithacobweb · 27/04/2026 12:59

Voted YABU because obviously you need to eat the best ones first for maximum enjoyment of them!

I’d be the size of a horse if I ate that lot.

I have some room to move. Ran 21km yesterday so it does ease the guilt.

Nothing for dipping?

Oh no. Pastry is not to be dipped. It’s to be enjoyed crispy and flaky (which sadly these ones are a bit short that way, I think they could have done with another few minutes in the air fryer)

Snack envy is a genuine issue 😋

IHopeYouStepOnALegPiece · 27/04/2026 13:06

Oh YUM! Friend lives in Italy and the bakery nearby does the most outstanding selection of mini pastry snack (caciocavallo cheese and prosciutto mini croissants are the absolute highlight, I can and have eaten 12 in one go). My least favourite are the artichoke, they’re too soggy.

Mini pastries are, I believe, unbeatable snacking!

Makes my Woolworths frozen selection sound very basic. But the bowl is empty nonetheless… a bit sad I didn’t pick up a sweet selection to end off on.

There’s a real sadness with an empty snack pastry bowl!

Glitterella · 27/04/2026 13:09

There is also a valuable cleaning tip here. Mini pastries are small enough to fit in your mouth in one go so no risk of pastry flakes falling on the couch (or floor as you make your way to the couch).

Too full! Too fucking full to eat cheese puffs! Don’t be so ridiculous.

wishingonastar101 · 27/04/2026 13:15

I was thinking min pastries like croissants and pain au chocolate! Which would be my preference... don't like sausage rolls.

I didn't say too full to eat them, I said too full to enjoy them. I'd still eat them.

Exactly there is a difference. Wonder if I will regret it?

I think an afternoon nap might even things out.

Will never understand how women don’t want their husbands playing golf, cycling etc… I love him but I also really love an afternoon like this too.

PS. No children either so for anyone sitting on the fence about having kids, mini pastry bowls to yourself are on the pro list.

Was going to say the same! At the very least some ketchup is needed, or chilli sauce!

BillieWiper · 27/04/2026 13:24

Mini chicken pie sounds awesome! I've not actually seen those in UK..not bite sized anyway. Only like a pastie which is bigger.

My fave beige snacks are breaded onion rings and waffle fries! 🤤

I hope you enjoyed them!
