It’s me by the way and that’s the case for my clothes

OP posts:

Nope not at all

Depends. If you were on a high wage and couldn’t be bothered to spend more, yes. If you couldn’t afford to buy more expensive clothes, no.

What a weird comment

Dexternight · Yesterday 21:30

I wouldn't judge.
I like good quality clothing for me it lasts longer and looks better.
So I don't buy frequently but when I do I try to buy the best quality which i can afford and classic designs.
However I wouldn't judge others.

Lifeomars · Yesterday 21:35

I recently bought a lovely plain bluey green linen shirt from Asda, £14 and very good quality, looks good and I have had compliments. It is designer as far as I am concerned because somebody must have designed it!

Why? It’s not compulsory for high earners to spend lots of money on clothes!

PortSalutPlease · Yesterday 21:36

Even celebrities wear a surprising amount of high street, supermarket and primark.

Just look at Cat Deeley on this morning - she’s worn stuff from Asda, Sainsbury’s and Primark in recent months. And Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis wear clothes from Sainsbury’s and H&M so if they can, I’m sure you can!

YvieYfronts · Yesterday 21:38

No, not in the slightest.

Aiming4Optimistic · Yesterday 21:38

I think this depends on where you work. A job where you meet a lot of very wealthy clients, there would likely be judgement of Primark clothes. I work in the public sector and no one cares - if you are reasonably smart that's good enough. No one cares where it comes from.

Unless you are spending £££ then I don't think Primark etc is worse quality than even expensive high street tbh. I've had supermarket clothes that lasted years, washed well, didn't fade and some more expensive stuff that hasn't!

Bikergran · Yesterday 21:41

No. I might judge you if they're ghastly or badly fitting, but you can dress well from Primark and supermarkets, and not spend telephone number amounts of money on "brands" - many of which are probably made in the same factories, just marked up several thousand percent.

babyproblems · Yesterday 21:41

Primark probably but not because it’s cheap I’m not convinced it is actually cheap cheap like it was, so now it’s just dire quality for the same price as supermarkets, which frankly I think aren’t too bad. I would probably judge you a bit on ethics tbh. Especially for Primark. There is really no way to tell if retailers like this have exploitation in their supply chains, or worse, child labour. My suspicion is that they possibly do; possibly they are not even aware given how complex the manufacturing can be. So I think we should all be a bit cautious of the possibility of that.

MidnightMeltdown · Yesterday 21:42

No. I would only judge if you had poor taste! You can get nice items and ugly items in literally any clothing shop.

Pistachiocake · Yesterday 21:42

No.

I’m on a higher wage and don’t spend more. Not for any reason other than I just don’t care for clothes…

justasmalltownmum · Yesterday 21:45

I wouldn’t judge - I have clothes from there too. But I think you can tell. (Quality, material, shapes and cuts).

Justgorgeous · Yesterday 21:52

I buy mostly Zara and M&S. I have never bought any clothing from a supermarket and I have never been in Primark. I would never judge anyone.

One could argue M&S IS a supermarket

ArtyFartyCrafts · Yesterday 22:01

I bloody love Tesco sports leggings. They last for ageeeeeeees!
And the vest tops they do in the summer too.

Do you have “Asda” on your front and “Primark” on your bum? As that is the only way Inwould know.

This. HTH 💐

LivingTheDreamish · Yesterday 22:05

No of course not! You can get lovely things in places like that. I don't think it's true that the quality is always lower either (than mid-priced brands) if you choose carefully.

Bertiebiscuit · Yesterday 22:06

Me too. Thank goodness for Primark, I'd be really badly dressed without them

Bertiebiscuit · Yesterday 22:10

MandemChickenShop · Yesterday 19:46

Is this an ethical question?

Fast fashion is unsustainable and consumers mindlessly supporting it need to give their heads a wobble.

However, this isn't exactly the same as buying clothes at a supermarket, if you cherish them, are selective of material choice and use them for very many years. But this would be atypical I suppose.

Community Clothing and charity shops only for me.

All good in theory, but no one can buy underwear, bras, socks in charity shops, and Primark and supermarkets are really good for underwear and pyjamas.

PolkaDotPorridge · Yesterday 22:11

I wouldn’t notice. There are people that would notice and that would judge you but they’re dickheads and definitely not worth worrying about.

then you are missing out. I dont know about Tesco but Sainsburys has a far nicer range than M&S and the quality is similar and in some cases, better. But the cost is much less!

TwoBagsOfCompost · Yesterday 22:17

Shopping7777 · Yesterday 19:44

I guess you can tell they are cheap

Sometimes yes but not always. At any rate it wouldn’t even cross my mind to judge. It’s just clothes, as long as they’re clean and appropriate for the occasion/setting then it’s fine. It wouldn’t register as a thing to notice at all!

90sbaby123 · Yesterday 22:17

I love tesco clothing
