As a proud Northerner i can say 80 per cent of my peer group will vote for Reform in May. Do you think it will be a North v South split?

You're a bit late to the party mate. She already has responded, and it was helpful.
Any reason why my curiosity about what attracts voters to Reform feels so threatening to you that you feel the need to police other posters responding to me? I'd have thought you'd be pleased to see the message spread. If it's a good one you could win people over.

ok was a bit late here.

I think we might see a Conservative-Reform coalition to try and defeat Labour. Then they’ll get into power, disagree on everything and nothing will get done.

I agree with the pp it’s pointless on mn for any non Labour on these threads and I don’t blame her for avoiding it.

Oh yes, you are the poster who is very black and white, MN is not just pro or anti Labour.

I won't be voting Labour in our local election, nor Reform but I think I made that very clear already.

Reform in our town wants to introduce DOGE to reduce debt but can't say where the savings are going to be made beyond vanity projects and they want to stop house building to avoid people (of all complexions they added) moving to our town.

You are the poster that just said Reform in earlier post because I agreed with pp there’s no point.

Vote for whomever you want. I’m agreeing with @BeAmberZebraon why she’s not answering you.

hedgeknight · 02/05/2026 11:14

I am not sure what the point of a thread is if you don't want to answer questions or explain your reasons

Probably easier to just say 'I love Reform and hate Labour' and leave it at that.

As said you’re a very black and white poster. The pp doesn’t have to explain anything to you, and given how threads go I don’t blame her:

Tell us what policies you like and how they will improve the UK?

They won't because they can't.

I am not, I am just very worried about Reform and the direction it takes us.

Maybe you are ok with Reform and their racism, I am not.

Me too and it’s a lot worse now and our borders are clearly open.

Why are people risking their lives in small boats then? If the borders were open that would be unnecessary.

I’ve read a few threads with the pp and they all go the same way.

As for that kind of approach working for Labour as said earlier it’s not really, they lose voters each week

and yes ik you could vote for someone else.

There would be safe routes, wouldn't there?

The pp is a very active poster, they are capable of speaking up and do so frequently.

I already said I am not voting for Labour in our local elections but would have done so to keep Reform out. I would even vote Conservative to do that.

You vote Reform if you want, you know what you are voting for.

Who is financing Farage and why?

I haven’t said here who I’m voting for but you’ve got it wrong. It’s pretty obvious on other threads if you are interested.

My post was to say I can see why the pp isn’t responding just to get another pile on, it’s pointless.

Where do you think our borders are? It’s the area that surrounds our country. It’s our border not some area where people check passports. If people can come here with no permission then our borders are clearly open. However it’s an interesting viewpoint.

If it’s the area surrounding the country as you suggest, how could it be closed without building a wall round the entire UK coast line?

Hey hedgeknight. I was an active poster and have tried on many occasions to set out why I will vote Reform and defended specific policies although not necessarily all. I tried to use neutral language as best I could on a number of other posts discussing Reform. The vast majority of responses were generally very dispiriting and mostly involved insults and some bad language. Perhaps you are not of this mindset but many are and you will not be the only poster to respond to anything I post so I restricted my comments on this thread but think I am entitled to make whatever comments I like on this site and am not obliged to answer you or justify my comments to you or anyone else. I would have actually liked to have a more in depth debate but it really is pointless on this site but this doesn’t mean I can’t say anything. Mumsnet is quite left wing and not really representative of the country if you accept the polling results delivered by many respected pollsters so it’s not a surprise that the responses are what they are. I’m sorry if you are actually an exception to this approach.

hedgeknight · 02/05/2026 12:43

MN was never quite left wing, it was quite balanced. There has definitely been a push towards Reform since Labour was voted in, on MN and in the media.

But you know what and who you are voting for.

It started even before the election.

Don’t worry the backlash started before the election. Most just avoid it now.

Nellodee · 02/05/2026 16:37

I live in the reform heartlands. My daughter gets bullied at school by Farage loving wankers who tell her she has “that immigrant stench”. She gets told, “I hope your dad gets deported.” When I teach lessons about social media and ask if anyone has any relatives who have “fallen down rabbit holes”, child after child tells me about a racist parents who rant continuously about immigrants.
To all the non-racist reform voters out there - what are you doing to make sure you’re not accidentally voting in a bunch of racist? And why aren’t you worried about this?

pointythings · 02/05/2026 19:37

@Nellodee this started with Brexit. I'm an EU national living in the UK - I've been here literally half my life. My kids were born here. The day after the referendum, they got told to 'fuck off back to where they were born'. Er - that would be Cambridge...

The Brexit referendum let all the racists and xenophobes out of their box, and they've only got bolder since.

That’s horrible. I feel sorry for what children are dealing with now. I grew up in the 90s/00s and racist incidents in my school were few and far between. Now I can imagine it’s really prevalent.

rememberingthem · 24/04/2026 01:23

And here we have the exact issue…the superior attitude and treating anyone who wants to vote for reform as imbeciles who don’t understand what they are voting for. This is EXACTLY what happened with Brexit and look where that got the country!!!

You may not seem to understand that maybe many northerners want to vote for a crypto supporting, racist, liar and chancer who will destroy the country and sell it out wholesale to the US and Russia because they hate the NHS, want massive cuts to benefits to support tax cuts to the rich, want massive cuts to infrastructural spending and education as well as SEN, support deregulation to crypto, banking, big oil, building land like incompetents in charge of local government. Have you thought of that?

Where I live on the edges of London slowly has more and more Union Jack flags creeping on the roads not as a source of pride but as a means of intimidating those that the racists feel should not be in this country. My neighbour who is a lovely Catholic lady from Goa and volunteers in the Vincent De Paul society and is a GP has been spat on in the street and still has a jolly disposition. Recently someone put a Greggs paper bag with dog excrement and bacon through her letterbox (in the misapprehension she was Muslin because of the colour of her skin?). This is the country we have become and I don’t know how anyone can be proud of this.
