As a proud Northerner i can say 80 per cent of my peer group will vote for Reform in May. Do you think it will be a North v South split?

Farage has not said that about the NHS. Read his policy on it. He wants if free for all but people can pay into an insurance system if they want.

So the same as now?

Labour have just signed a new deal with France to stop the small boats so they are doing something

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Genuine question the people voting reform would you also vote trump if you lived in the U.S

yes

Teddybear23 · 29/04/2026 10:05

Have you not noticed the state of the country!??

The Tories were in power for far longer than Labour have currently been in power.

Though, to be fair, if I had to vote Tory to keep Reform out then I would hold my nose and do it.

Farage has not said that about the NHS. Read his policy on it. He wants if free for all but people can pay into an insurance system if they want.

Is that not the same as the current system - like with BUPA etc (where the monthly premiums can often be subsidised by employers)?

For Most of them immigration is the big issue. They do not want our town to become like certain parts of London and places like Bradford etc.

Everything else is secondary.

These are their views as you asked. Not mine

Are they distinguishing “immigration” from “non-white” (two completely separate categories) when they talk about not wanting their town to look like parts of London and Bradford?

JHound · 29/04/2026 12:13

Tuiy · 26/04/2026 19:36

If we look at the most pessimistic views of the future from both sides. The far left believe reform will sell the nhs and turn the uk into a mini USA. The far right believe labour/greens will allow unlimited immigration until the uk becomes a mini Pakistan.

Unless you are male and Muslim you’d probably prefer to live in the USA.

Again not my views just explaining how many of them seem to think. They are thinking long term but prioritising different things.

This isn’t a poor town we’re far south and most of these people have jobs.

I’m a woman and would not prefer to live in the US under the current crop of US conservatives. “Sons of Jacob” comes to mind.

JHound · 29/04/2026 12:14

Onmytod24 · 28/04/2026 13:59

It’s strange that people who don’t want their town to become like London vote reform but people who actually live in London do not vote reform. Does not make sense at all.

It’s like that survey asking views on London. Those who hated it overwhelmingly were not from London. Those who were more positive actually lived here.

JHound · 29/04/2026 12:15

Tuiy · 26/04/2026 20:08

No? Where did I say that? Literally said rather than Pakistan. Read my last two posts

What does Pakistan have to do with anything? This is the UK.

JHound · 29/04/2026 12:17

Comeonalley · 29/04/2026 00:01

Londoners from all ethnic backgrounds including white Londoners are often more than happy to live in areas which are significantly or predominantly Black, Asian or Latino for example.

They typically don’t want London to become more like the predominantly white towns outside of London that have scarcely any cultural diversity.

The ones who do have a problem usually scarper from London. I remember once in Glasgow this awful guy chatting me up in and saying he recently moved back from London as his area was full of Turkish and other immigrants. I was like ew no you can’t get my number 🤣

Yep. Most rational people I know don’t care about the melanin levels of their neighbours, they just case about the wealth of the neighbourhood, facilities and safety.

You are going to get an almighty shock with that attitude. You have no idea how out of touch you are

Do you think the fact everybody you know shares your pro-Reform views, means that everybody in the north does?

Everybody I know has fairly centre or left-wing views and did not vote for Brexit etc. But I have never been so naive or arrogant as to think that everybody in my area feels the same way.

I think people do but don’t blame Labour for that (yet) as they have barely been in power for two business days.

Next week will show if that feels like two business days or nearly two years to most people. Starmer’s whipping MPs to avoid scrutiny probably won’t help.

What?

I have no idea why you responded to me with that post.

Edit: oh on rereading I see why. I was speaking about the PP specifically but yes - I think a lot (most?) people completely discount the years of Tory government and are insistent the state of the country is down to 24 months of Labour.

Which is hilarious, given that Rishi Sunak was still bleating about the crisis Labour had left the Tories with 12 years afterthe Tories came to power. One rule for them, another for Labour - and certain people on this thread don't want to see the hypocrisy.

One issue for Labour is Starmer manages to irritate more and more people. Whether it’s the hypocrisy of calling for others to face the privileges committee and whipping himself out of it or something else.

In the end the public get a say and just ignoring the impact of his and their approach will be felt in numbers.

I disagree, he irritates more people who are in a position to amplify their irritation.

I don’t think so although Labour tend to lean on this rather than the cause of the issue.

Tunnocks34 · 29/04/2026 18:57

It is confirmation bias - you surround yourself with people who are very similar to you so you believe that your thought train is most common.

I am from Salford but absolutely will not vote reform, no one I know would either and generally think they are dispicable.

I really dislike Keir starmer too but will probably vote Labour. The choice for me would be like cutting off your hand or shooting yourself in the head. Both shite options but one slightly better.

However, we live in a democracy and people are right to disagree and vote for who they will. I’m sure there will be a reform surge this May - definitely in Salford as although my particular friendship group and family are generally left leaning, I’m not ignorant enough to think everyone is.

I think as much as we all like to believe that we don't want to live in an echo chamber, the reality of being surrounded by people with different views can be very hard indeed. This is especially true when we regard other perspectives as morally wrong or as you describe them as 'despicable'. Where does this leave us when it comes to sharing perspectives and understanding each other? We will end up very polarised as a country if we can't stand to bridge this gap.

Please read the Green's policies before you vote, they are not the Green party of the past.

Hello, what's the issue that concerns you?
