As a proud Northerner i can say 80 per cent of my peer group will vote for Reform in May. Do you think it will be a North v South split?

Oh give over 😂😂😂 NHS waiting lists down, economy growing, millions of children lifted out of poverty.

Are you having a laugh?? Businesses going under at record rates, record youth unemployment, women scared to walk the streets at night……

It’s seems clear that this ‘don’t patronise us’ ‘stop being superior’ ‘certain people with degrees’ etc etc which is repeated endlessly on this thread is a tactic for undermining any actual criticism of Reform. People keep reverting to it rather than talking about policy in any other way than quite sensationalist in tone.
In its own way it’s just as nasty as actually being patronising. Also worth stating that education is not a bad thing and helps with critical thinking. A useful skill when considering the impact of the decisions you make on yourself and on those more vulnerable.

It was the pp who brought up lower education = ill-informed.

Do you agree people without degrees are ill-informed?

Want to expand on why you're asking me that?

EasternStandard · 24/04/2026 11:13

I don’t think you need a degree to be well informed at all. Doesn’t give you any higher moral ground not to have one though.

Small boat arrivals will continue to happen until politicians agree to introduce safe routes to the UK. Nobody will do that because any party with a possibility of electoral success is trying to out Reform the real Reform. So Mr Farage bears responsibility for the fact that thousands of people each year are being exploited by gang masters and having to make terrifying, often lethal crossings.

I'm not opposed to immigration but, if you're of that mind, remember that Mr Farage has, in fact, done more to increase it and create a need for it than anyone else I can think of.

How did the 10million legal immigrants who have arrived this century get here then if we dont have ‘safe routes’?
How did (high profile) people like Martina Navratilova and Nureyev claim asylum back in the 70s? They flew into a country with their passport and said they wanted to claim political asylum. I think (from memory) Nureyev did this at Orly Airport.

I'm not scared to walk the streets at night.
I regularly have NHS appointments, and I have actually noticed the past year that when I ring up, it's a lot easier to get through and less of a queue, and appointments have had a fewer wait time.
Helping parents (especially mums who it usually affects) get back into work more easily by introducing morning childcare in the form of breakfast clubs so they can get to work on time.
We can all focus on the negativity or positivity I suppose...

Owninterpreter · 24/04/2026 11:16

I think with brexit people were patronising about the problems people were having and dismissing them as not actual issues at all. But now people are trying much harder to say yes this is a problem for some groups but those solutions don't work but people still feel dismissed and dont see it as debate or working to a solution both can agree on.

justmeandthedogs · 24/04/2026 10:18

@DaisyDooleythe first step to sorting the benefits bill is admitting the pensions system is broken.

I agree - but no political party will touch that as it’s pensioners who vote.

If reform are the devil, the greens are going to have open borders and self ID, Labour are useless, as are the Tory’s then who on earth do we vote for??

Ok. Can you explain the safe routes to me? Current ones btw, not those regarding defections half a century ago from countries that no longer exist. Actual safe and legal routes for asylum seekers.

Is this a serious question?

There are safe routes for those with money and a passport. Many people fleeing war and dangerous countries have neither.

Reform would have allowed the USA to use our air bases.
Thats it.
Your precious sons are safe -unlike our daughters.

Daughters are you having a laugh anti abortion calling women gutter sluts, hags and thick tarts changing the equality act which protects maternity pay and that women should focus on mothering instead of careers, ignoring domestic violence.

Open borders is not a Green policy

Namechangefordaughterevasion · 24/04/2026 11:22

Slightly derailing here but I don't understand people being proud of where they were born or brought up. It's a matter completely out of their control so why would they be proud of it?

I have done things in my life I'm proud of. I went to uni aged 50 and earned an MSc, I make an excellent Yorkshire pudding, I've raised 2 wonderful women and I've been reasonably happily married to the same man for 40 years. All these things took hard work, effort, patience and practice and I'm proud of myself for them.

Am I proud that I was born and raised in London? No. I'm happy I live here but I can't take pride in it because I didn't choose it or achieve it. It's just an outcome of decisions adults made before I was even conceived

! also wouldn't be proud of mixing with reform supporters.

.

Why are you scared to walk the streets at night? I mean, I am, but I always have been. I am not more scared now than I previously was. Women have always feared for their safety alone at night, with good reason, though fortunately violent crime rates are lower nowadays iirc

Who’s working for Labour here?
I posted a genuine quote from a Reform spokesman earlier and not a single response - just a reversion to this silly argument of ‘who are you calling not nice’ etc etc.

Reform obviously voters don’t bring up those words so take it up with those who do.

The quote doesn't say about posters "working for Labour" though 😕
It says people who are throwing insults and vote Labour, it clearly isn't working for them.

lovealieinortwo · 24/04/2026 07:45

So what system do you suggest for older generations?

Allowing people to die when they want to die, not keep them alive for the sake of it.

Forthesteps · 24/04/2026 11:29

JustGiveMeReason · 24/04/2026 00:46

No, I don't think there will be a North / South divide.

But people tend to 'hang out' with 'people like them'.

I am pretty sure NONE of my peers are going to vote for a party / Limited Company that wants to:
remove workers rights,
destroy the NHS,
reduce support for people with disabilities,

reduce or completely stop support for humanitarian causes.

That support tax breaks for billionaires and condone British Billionaires being migrants whilst condemning migrants from any other Country.

That stokes up hatred and bigotry amongst people that previously got along fine previously.
That wants to prevent women having autonomy over their own bodies
That wants to withdraw from the EHRC
That wants to completely dismantle any initiatives to promote diversity
That 'doesn't believe' in the disabilities children in school have and that want to remove the already inadequate support that is currently available for children with SEND
That wants to reduce public spending
Whose Leaders has a track record for blatant lying
etc
etc

Then, looking at the Councils where many Reform Councillors were elected last year - 70 have left (resigned or sacked) since being elected last May before you get on to reports of those who have not turned up / attempted to do the job. So many have been exposed as being completely unsuitable, and either not vetted properly or what was uncovered in the vetting completely ignored.

12 have put up Council Tax, despite campaigning on a promise of "cutting waste" and reducing Council Tax.

Quite.

OP quit shilling. How anyone can think of voting for this shower of shite and talk about being proud of anything beats me.

Why don’t you talk about policy not insults though? I personally have backed up WHY I think people aren’t nice with a tangible example to get no response whatsoever?
I would conclude therefore that this is a tactic and people actually don’t want to talk policy - therefore not that impressed with them and revert to thinking they’re not very nice!
